... Porsche sweeps the GT Class and Andy Lally does it again!
Ford also sweeps the Prototypes. One of my friends finished 2nd overall. Congratulations, Enzo.
Great 50th Anniversary.
Hope to see many of the Porsche teams and drivers at the 49 Hours at Sebring next weekend.
Happy Porscheing

I watched a good part of the race on TV. What a thriller!!!!!!!!!

Really amazing that after 24 hours the top cars in each catergory where so close on the same lap. Racing at its best. That's for sure.
.....and Ford sweeps overallwinking smiley

Just got back to the hotel room from the race!
Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Sunday, 29 January, 2012, at 5:26:19 pm
What a wonderful four days. Sorry - the Lizard broke - you probably know better than I do what happened. It was off track for awhile and then came back with a good deal of its rear body work missing. After that, lap times were abysmal. OTOH, it was a sweep for Porsche! Both the prototype and GT races were great with the winning margins measured in seconds after 24 hours. I was really rooting for a caution near the end so the Brumos 59 could get another shot.

Almost as much fun as the race, they had a short vintage race on Saturday morning with the winners of previous Daytona races. It was a thrill to see the old 907, 917, 962 etc race alongside the Ford GT and even a Dodge Viper. Can't say I am much of a fan of the looks of the Rileys though. Kept asking myself what the 917 would do if they really would let it out on the Daytona tri-oval.

I'll post a few pics when I get back home in a couple of days.

One more thing - the hospitality by the Florida PCA club was incredible. ALso a real treat to see over 200 Porsches in the Porsche Corral - some of them quite nice and/or unique.
