There are several grades of hot glue.
I use Industrial Grade which is the most aggressive.
It's also a good idea to first wipe both (plastic) surfaces with acetone to promote adhesion.
You can also score (scratch) the surfaces to give the glue a better chance to adhere.
Finally you can glue several strips of plastic transversally to the back of the assembly to strengthen the bond.
