I enjoyed this post so much that I shared it on the Maserati Life board.

Yes, I joined that board when I was thinking about selling my '01 Boxster S in order to purchase a 2004-2005 Maserati Spyder because I nice one can be purcahsed in the mid-$30k range. When I saw how trouble-ridden the Spyder can be with their F1 transmission and pump, and how expensive the maintenance is, I balked. My opion-laden (green) Boxster has 71k miles on it, I have a killer customer stereo, a new top with glass window, a short shift kit with a 911 shift knob and a Dansk exhaust. My 2nd clutch is holding up fine, I have no IMS issues and the RMS weep is so minimal that I don't care about it. The Spyder is a beautiful and very powerful car, but I decided don't need the potential headaches or financial crisis.
A: He's a smug elitist at a fancy cocktail party, and the car he drives implies his position in society.
B: A big component of his self-identity is with the marque he drives, like many of us Porschephiles.

By the way, the Maserati I'd own if I could have just one: the Bora.
