Hang or support the suspension...?
primo4 - Wednesday, 27 April, 2011, at 10:35:07 am
All,

Getting ready to do a manual transmission fluid change (Mobile Delvac).

Does it make a diff whether the car is supported on jacks or a ramp when pulling and re-installing the undercarriage steel to gain access.

I thought I'd read a reference to this on the old board, but couldn't find it.

Thanks

Yes, support the car from the jack points and let the suspension hang. Otherwise, you'll alter the settings. Don't quote me, but I believe the torque spec for the cross members was 48 ft lbs. It is also worth checking to see if the car is level, so the amount of fluid in the gearbox is correct. The base gearbox gets set a a certain amount (11mm) below the fill port.
