I use the Porsche wash and top protectant every two years. Doing that with my 1999, the top looked like new in 2009 when I sold it. I am about to treat my 2008's top. Folks here have highly recommended Ragtop. Apparently you spray it on with no worries about getting any on other surfaces and it does a fine job. For folks not familiar with the Porsche treatment, you first wash the top with a special Porsche soap (that removes any wax that is on painted surfaces, so re-waxing is required). You then have to cover and tape all surfaces other than the top fabric that will be spayed with the Porsche top treatment product because if spay gets on a painted surface it pretty much can not be removed w/o a belt sander.
So, there is Ragtop - easy to use, and the Porsche treatment which takes a bit of time and effort. My question is, Is there any disadvantage in using Ragtop? Has anyone used it for 10 years or so and seen any deterioration in the quality of the top? Or, put an other way, is there absolutely no advantage in using the Porsche treatment?
Thanks in advance for any input,
Bob
