'09S with 27K, driver's seat belt mechanism works like new. Sorry you're having trouble. For years I was complaining about the seat belt on my '99 RX300. Then, finally, a guy at the Lexus service dept. pointed out that a guide that the belt passes through was all crusty, and scraping it out a bit with something sharp would free the belt to move easier. I felt pretty stupid for not having figby Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
QuoteAS2003 you would think testing a car with those fake panels would be difficult. How do you know if the car is going to whistle or do something else odd without testing the car in production form in the real world? Test it at night?by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
As a former owner of two Mr. 2's (1988 base, '91 Turbo), I'm not at all averse to the analogy. That '91 Turbo was damn close to the Boxster in terms of exhilaration factor. BTW, did anyone notice the additional "homage" that would be represented by the turbo 4 treatment?by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
Here are a few links to product descriptions: I'm intrigued by the idea...$100 isn't much to spend for even a 5-10% fuel savings, and they claim around twice that. I don't want/need more power (the '09S has plenty), but I'm always interested in saving fuel. Just wondering if anyone's tried one of these on any vehicle, and what sort of real results might be expected... Thanks!by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
First of all, congrats on the new stable-mate. It certainly won't be lonely in that garage... I know what you mean about "feeling" the PDK is less responsive than you may have expected...I had sort of the same first impression on mine, but I've come to the conclusion it is entirely psychological. After all, when you shift manually, you know exactly when to expect the power to be applied to the rby Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum

OMG, that reminds me of the kid who bought my 9yo '97 Prelude SH when I swapped it for my first Boxster. The 'Lude was a 5-speed 200hp 4-banger... about six months after selling him the car, I got a call from the guy; he asked if I could recommend anyone to do some engine work because the car "didn't seem to have the power it was supposed to have". I asked for more information, and he told me tby Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum

I follow this guy's blogs, and saw him speak in NY a few months back. He's a trip. Especially recommended is his piece on how he screwed Yasser Arafat out of $2M and lost $100M in the process, elsewhere on his blog...by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum

This is just too funny. The author writes: "....Porsche cup holders force a coffee cup to travel through an exaggerated arc of motion as the car pitches and rolls." Actually, I had the same problem the first few days I had my new Boxster. It was really annoying how the cup-holder wouldn't stay put. Again, my service manager stated that it was due to the lower exhaust temperature from the DFI engine that the soot was prone to stick to the pipe. I don't personally understand the physics, but that's what he said...by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
QuoteBoxsterra Now, that I have to disagree with. The repair costs of an 84 Alfa Spider as a percentage of car cost far exceed that of the Boxster in pretty much every case. I think that's exactly what dghii was trying to say...by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
My '09S had about 800 miles on it put on by the sales manager (which got me a bit off the price). I noticed the soot in the showroom and I asked them to make sure it got cleaned before I took delivery, not realizing how easily it always just wipes off. Of course, they didn't clean it Anyway, I get it on my pipes after just a few days of driving. When I asked Chris Martikke, the service managerby Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
The only thing that comes close to an engine/tranny problem (again, this is the PDK) that I've had in almost two years is that once in a great while I'll start up the car and the tranny basically stays in neutral even after I shift it to drive, with the rather ominous diagnostic message "Emergency Transmission Run" appearing on the console. The only way to ameliorate the problem has been to turnby Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum

...securing each insert to the roll bar. I've had a little wire loop connected to each one ever since at about month 2 of ownership of my first Boxster, my son reclined his seat a bit too far while we were out driving around. ...could be achieved for the most part with a 6-speed utilizing an even taller 6th gear ratio. As has been pointed out, most "spirited" driving occurs in NOT the top gear; thus, if the pattern basically went from 5th to "7th" in one step, then aside from the tiny bit of lugging as we settle into the top gear, the long-haul highway efficiency would be basically the same as with the full-blown 7-spby Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum

My first Porsche was also an '03 Boxster, an S with 20K miles on it that I bought in late '06. It was perfect. Was able to afford a new '09S three years later, and that's even more perfect, lol. Drive safe and have fun!by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
...and, unbeknownst to me, knocked his insert out in the process (never to be seen again), I've secured each of them with a little wire loop through a hole in the insert and around the roll bar. Now you can punch them out and they remain attached to the car... I was just reading the latest PCA email newsletter and there's a Lloyd's ad that says "PCA discount offered". Wish I knew that when I bought my last two sets, lol. Not sure how much you save, though. Didn't see the info on the page they link to.by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
Aha, I thought that might have been the case. See MarkinMD's post, that pretty much nails it. I was speaking with my IRA Porsche service manager about it (Chris Martikke, he's really fun to talk to) and Chris told me that it's the 911's where the PASM is softer in normal mode than the standard Boxster suspension is, but on the 987's you can basically only stiffen with the PASM, not soften (presuby Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
...discovered after two blocks that there were no mats at all! Turned around, let them restore the mats they had taken out to do the final detailing. They were total POS's. (Well, maybe not TOTAL, because I found a board member willing to pay for shipping to have me ship them out to him, but definitely not up to my standards.) Lloyd's are the way to go.by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
Lloyd's mats come with a snap-together "belt buckle" system. The mat has two female plastic receptacles stitched to the underside nearest the driver/passenger. The pieces that plug into them are installed by sliding a clip along the floor of the cabin beneath the seats until they snap into place under there somehow (I don't remember what they attach to, but I've never had any problem, and I've doby Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
...why do you want the PASM? I only ask because I originally wanted my 987.2 with PASM, couldn't find it, and settled for a specimen without it. But the reason I wanted the PASM was to soften the ride over bumpy/pothole-infested roads, and later I was told that I wouldn't have gotten what I wanted from the Boxster PASM, as it stiffens the ride for the track rather than loosens it up for bumps.by Leor ('09S, North of Boston) - Main Forum
