Well Pedro, I wish I had done that. It got worse today. A quart of fluid wasn't quite enough and it was getting late Sunday so I decided to flush the clutch later. Tonight, I put the Motive in a bucket in the front trunk, pumped it up, got my assistant, and crawled under the rear end. By the time I got the line on the nipple and loosened it up, no flow. I crawled out and when I went around fby Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
I went to get mine out yesterday to flush my brakes and discovered the hose from the bottle had gotten brittle and disintegrated. The fluid left in the hose ran out and saturated the box, peeling the paint on the top of the tool cabinet where it was stored. If you have one, I suggest you store it in a container that can withstand brake fluid between uses and you may want to have some spare hoseby Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
Pedro, Sorry to hear of your accident. You may recall I came to BRBS two years ago with a herniated disk and L4/L5 nerve root damage. I don't recommend it. Missy had to do all the driving - up, there, and back. Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.by Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
I'm running 17" ps2's on a 2002 base. I had to go with the S size front ( less stagger) because they didn't make the size i needed when i bought them. I think they do now (in the ps2) but will need new tires soon.by Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
Hi John, A good source for stuff like miniature switches is digikey.com. They have pictures of most items, and they have no minimum and process and ship really fast. But Pedro is right, you will need a reaally fine tip iron, and watch out for static electricity. Alby Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
Thanks to everyone for the contributions. I have a manual but didn't think to look there. I was fixated on finding the list I had seen before that had a picture of each switch along with its part number and connection diagram. This should do it for Andrew. Andrew, I have some pictures ready to send you but I can't get picture editor to let go of the full resolution version so they won't attby Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
Trying to help Andy in NYC with the garage door opener hack andf I can't find my list of Porsche switches. I thought I copied it, but I can't find it. I have googled til my eyes hurt, but I can't find the original list. Can anyone point me to the really nice list someone had accumulated of all the Porsche switches and their wiring diagrams? Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to the PB team and all the members here. Looking forward to another great year.by Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
I have a 2002. Almost a year ago I bought a 2003 top from a junkyard for $800 shipped and put it on myself with a lot of help from Maurice and his writeups. Best thing I ever did to the car. The visibility out of the four-bow factory glass window top is not (imo) substantially less than the original top. I did not like the appearance or the visibility of the GAHH replacement top that fits onby Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
Thanks for the contrasting inputs. Maybe PCA Sebring and Petit Lemans.....Hmmmm.by Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
Well, the soldering is not exactly a body kind of job. More like an AV installer. A good stereo shop could do it. If you do it like I did, you'll be able to remove it fairly easily. Keep the dummy switch you take out of the panel. The targa switch has two sets of contacts, one for open, one for close. You can use them for the two switches on your opener. That is exactly what I did. You neby Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
I hate to admit it, but I've never been to Sebring. I'm seriously considering going for the 12 hours next year. I probably won't be able to take advantage of a 4-day superticket, so I guess I'd come down on Friday or very early Saturday. What does the schedule typically look like? Do attendees get hotels and come and go at the track, or stay there most of the time? I see they have RV parkingby Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
I did the same. My opener remote used a 12V battery so wiring it in was easy. There is a connector in the console near the gearshift for the porsche phone that has 12V on it,both switched and unswitched. If your remote uses a different battery voltage it may be a little harder, but not impossible. I soldered wires for power and the switches, wrappped the unit in bubble wrap and put it behindby Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
Another advantage to the bolt-on approach in addition to the substantially simpler install is the 4-bow frame and its larger rear window.by Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
I found a 2003 top that looked new in a yard in NJ for $600 plus $200 shipping. Due to size and maybe also weight it had to be shipped freight. But a like new top with glass window (you can't appreciate it until you have one) for$800 seemed pretty good so I jumped on it.by Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
With a lot of help from Maurice I put a 2003 glass window top on my 2002. Pretty straightforward. Hardest part was getting a wrench on the forward frame bolts, IIRC. Maurice and his DIY writeups were a huge help.by Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum

I guess it is possible that I just didn't notice the spoiler was up, either when I got out of the car this morning or when I came back from lunch, and I do remember feeling like my foot hit something, but it sure was obvious tonight, both when coming up to the car from the rear and when looking at it from standing at the drivers door. I guess this is just one of life's little mysteries. The scrby Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
I came out from work this afternoon in kind of a hurry to get to an appointment, and as I walked to the car I noticed the spoiler was up. My recent driving has been at around 45 mph, maximum, so I thought it was curious, but I had pulled the fuse panel cover chasing another problem, so I assumed my foot pressed the spoiler switch while driving. At least until I came out from my appointment andby Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
I'm not an expert, and I don't know what you mean by "linear" but it is hard to imagine that as the failure progresses and the bearing wobbles more and more that the damage wouldn't accelerate. My seal was visibly undamaged at around 50k, but the lube was gone. The wobble was barely noticeable and there were no metal particles in my filter. Since the failure consists of multiple phases, I.e. sby Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
Stefan, I have had this for over a year. I have tapped and wiggled the exhaust heat shields but they don't seem loose. What should I look for and where? Thanks, Alby Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
I love mine, purchased indirectly from Eric via Bill Hall, and installed at BRBS with a lot of help. My experience is the same as Guenter's, much more precise shifting, shorter travel, and only slightly more effort.by Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
I had the same luck with your link I did with my searches. I googled and searched through results for over an hour. I found several people talking about the hack, but could not find the hack itself. Maybe searching on Rennlist would turn it up, but thanks to Pedro, I have the information I needed. Actually, I just wanted to find out how to remove the windshield trim - remove the sunvisor. I've been looking and can't find the information on improving the AM reception anywhere. Can anyone provide a link? Thanks, Alby Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
Another common leak that can put oil on the exhaust and cats is the cam cover. The sealant used by porsche for a while was causing problems per my dealer tech. I had to have my passenger side cover resealed. Also had one or two spark plug tubes leaking.by Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
I have had extremely good luck and coverage with Intercontinental. I have purchased warranties from them for two cars, a jeep grand cherokee and my 2002 boxster and i came out ahead ( admittedly using more expensive dealer service, but probably would have still been ahead using an indy shop). They sell (only, i think) through credit unions. If you belong to one, or can join one, it might be an opby Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
At first blush, my OE IMS bearing seemed fine. It felt tight like you described yours. But then I tried a couple of things. Hold the outer race and try to move the inner race in a wobbling motion, as if the supported shaft were moving in a conical motion. Mine had some play. Next, pull the seals and see if there is any grease in the bearing. Mine had none; and there was engine oil inside thby Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
I had a similar problem (but it shut off after about a pint of flow) and it was a fuse. It is the same fuse as the cigarette lighter in a 2002.by Al in Melbourne Beach - Main Forum
