Mike, Do you know any (good) lawyers? Billby whall - Main Forum
Reminds me.....kinda.....of my distilling days in Saudi Arabia. I wish I had known about these guys: We used sugar for our mash. I have forgotten the name of the British sugar manufacturer who provided the sugar. But I do know that when it wanted to highlight the incredible amount of sugar sales through our company's commissary, there was a lot of tap dancing and throat clearing done to convinby whall - Main Forum
Bruce, I share your pain......although I can still (barely) get HER travel bags in the two trunks if I pack in one small soft gym bag. Ol' Lead Foot always looks good while I always look like the rag-a-muffin I am. Billby whall - Main Forum
Before you try to replace anything, first check to ensure the wire connectors are clean (corrosion and oil free) and securely attached to the oil pressure transmitter. If you have any handy, you might also spray the connector with an electrical contact spray. Here's a link to a oil pressure transmitter replacement thread for a 996: If you are not a RennList member, you'll have to register.by whall - Main Forum
Are you driving a Carrera? Or, a Boxster with a Carrera instrument cluster? If either is the case, plus the On Board Computer (OBC) is the origin of your "failure indicator" message and the oil pressure "idiot light" is not illuminated, I would suggest that the indicator part of the oil pressure transmitter has failed (the idiot light part is still functioning). The Carrera Owner's Manual says "Oby whall - Main Forum

My dealer recently sold his Porsche/Audi/VW franchises to another dealership. As a result of the sale, the parts folks cleaned out their back room shelves of leftover (read: “ new parts removed from customer cars when Tequipment accessories were installed”) parts. Being at the right place at the right time, and having purchased three cars plus service, I was given the parts listed below. I haby whall - Parts for Sale
John, I had a slowly dying alternator recently. As the alternator got warmer, the voltage dropped....to a point where t was developing around 10 volts. Rather than replace the alternator, I had the voltage regulator replaced at an automotive electrical shop, $80. I had the alternator R and R'ed by my dealer, $200. I recognize that the job could have been done cheaper had I R and R'ed the alternaby whall - Main Forum
Thanks for the Amazon link. It's exactly what I was looking for. patrick's comment about folks born during the 80's and after is spot on. To people who have never owned a record the thought of someone needing equipment to clean a record is indeed foreign. BTW, some of my LP's are monaural! Billby whall - Main Forum
I remember seeing a Ferrari 250 GTO for sale in the back of a Road and Track magazine (late 60's-early 70's). The seller was asking $10,000! In 1968, I paid $4,500 for a 1967 Jaguar XK-E. Likewise, I remember seeing stock P-51 Mustangs for sale in Trade-Plane (again late 60's-early 70's) where the asking prices were (again) $10,000. In 1972, I paid $5500 for a 1948 Temco-built Globe Swift. Nowby whall - Main Forum
record (LP/gasp! 45 RPM) cleaning material? I'm no longer a fanatic about crystal clear sound after a career around jet engines, but I'd like to at least clean the disks before committing them to being uploaded to my computer. Thanks, Billby whall - Main Forum
My experience was with my MY03 Boxster. Because I have a Carrera instrument cluster, I have the voltmeter. For the past week or so, I noticed the voltage dropping - sometimes as low as 10.5 volts indicated - as I drove along. At the point that the maximum voltage (after the car sat overnight and following a start) never exceeded 12 volts, I measured alternator voltage with a digital voltmeter. Thby whall - Main Forum

Neil, Ol' Lead Foot (Karen) and I went on a Fast Lane Travel "Fall Treffin" in Sept-Oct 2007. We had a wonderful time. Peter Sontag is the master of ceremonies "par excellence". There were about 25 couples in our group, people you would expect to find at the BRBS....immediate friends. Yes, the event was programmed, with Austro-Germanic precision. And, yes, it was expensive - compared to what anby whall - Main Forum
There is a town in Georgia, Ludowici, Georgia located just South of Fort Stewart, that had such a bad reputation for being a speed trap that the governor of Georgia (Lester Maddox!) had signs erected just outside the city limits to warn drivers. Apparently, the local cops not only wrote the tickets but were "authorized" to collect cash on the spot....if you didn't want to spend time in the localby whall - Main Forum

Tony, Here's the gospel from Saint Owner's Manual: "Only tires with the same make and with the same specification code (e.g. "NO", "Nl"...) can be mounted. Before mounting new tires, check with your Porsche dealer about the current release status. Use tires with "ZR" quality standards. There are currently no standards concerning tire strength at speeds above 150 mph (240 kmjhJ. Tires shouldby whall - Main Forum
Bob, I sent "ol' Lead Foot" (my wife) to the two day school a couple of years ago and have the following observations: 1. The school, equipment and instruction is FIRST CLASS. 2. The course starts off both mornings (two day course) with class room instruction. 3. Boxsters were used in the autocross training session; Carreras were used (with/without PSM) in the skidpad training session, Caymaby whall - Main Forum
A couple of years ago I sent my wife to the Porsche Drivers School at the Barber Motorsport Park in Birmingham AL. Hurley Haywood was (is still?) the chief instructor at the school. I was afforded the opportunity to sit through the classroom sessions and to ride with the instructor(s) as an observer....for the fee of $125. One of the instructors was Hurley. Somehow the following dealer statement doesn't give me much peace of mind: "At Porter Chevrolet we have nothing to hide, no number games to play, only a professional sales team striving to exceed your automotive expectations while providing a pleasant and hassle-free experience." Saying it doesn't make it so. In fact, the opposite is more likely. Billby whall - Main Forum
My second Jaguar, July 1968, Corpus Christi, TX. Nothing says Student Naval Aviator like a 1967 XK-E, with a 265 HP 4.2 liter engine, four speed transmission, desert beige/natural leather and triple laced chromed wire wheels. Neither the XK-E or my earlier 1960 XK-150 suffered from the tender mercies of the Prince of Darkness, John Lucas. Neither did either leak oil. But, they both suffered fby whall - Main Forum
