Pedro, In the PCA Tech Q&A section, on 02/03/20, you said that the "PDK normally starts in 2d gear when in Normal or Sports Modes. It starts in 1st gear when in Sport Plus Mode." Is that true for all model Porsches or only some? After I could not find that information in my service manual I shared your post with my (981CS) service advisor, who said it was news to him. To the best of my kby j.davis - Main Forum
Never mind. I found that Pedro previously answered my question in the PCA tech q&a section in December of last year. jDby j.davis - Main Forum
The Bently Publishers website doesn't list a 981 service manual. Heck, they didn't even make one for my 987CS. jDby j.davis - Main Forum
Years ago, I bought an emergency key from (or through) my local Porsche dealership. At the time, it was PN #955-538-916-00. I can unlock and start my 987.1 Cayman S with only the emergency key, even if my battery powered keys are nowhere near the car. The key does not contain a battery. My questions are: "Does the key contain an immobilizer (RFID) pill?" and "How does the car recognize theby j.davis - Main Forum
Now I know why the tech who installed my new brake pads would not let me accompany him while he broke them in.by j.davis - Main Forum
After another person pointed out the very large puddle of coolant under my car at a gas station where I was filling up, I added a gallon of distilled water just to get to my home. The next morning I had to add even more to get it to the minimum level it before I drove to my dealer. The dealer told me it was the cap on the motor under the engine cover that had failed. The warning light on theby j.davis - Main Forum
My 987.1 recently had a massive coolant leak when the "closure cap" on the engine failed. In spite of the loss of coolant, the needle of my temperature gauge remained fixed at 175 deg. F. Is there something that can be installed that would give an accurate temperature reading? A different sensor perhaps? I'd rather not try to add a second or a different gauge. Thanks in advance. jDby j.davis - Main Forum
Thanks Pedro. I think it must have been some kind of anomaly. Last night the CD continued to play without the key in the ignition for about 10 minutes--until I turned off the OEM radio/CD player. This morning, it'd play for only about 5 seconds after I removed the key.by j.davis - Main Forum
I backed my 987.1 Cayman S out of my garage today to sweep while the CD player was playing and removed the key from the ignition switch. I then noticed that the CD continued to be played. I've never observed this behavior before. Is this normal, and I just never noticed it? Or is something amiss with my player or ignition switch? The CD was in the cabin CD slot, not in the frunk. My P dealer sent me a notice of a $199 AC checkup special. It says they'll evacuate freon, recharge to correct freon level, check refrigerant pressures, inspect compressor belt, and inspect hoses for leaks. The deal does not include tax or shop supplies. I'm in Texas and the summer heat can get pretty brutal. Does this sound like a good deal? Is freon a shop supply? Thanks in advance. jDby j.davis - Main Forum
From the owner's manual: Oil level measurement during refueling The oil level is automatically measured during refueling. Preconditions 1. Ignition is switched off. 2. If the engine is at operating temperature, at least 5 minutes must elapse between parking the vehicle and starting the engine. 3. Refueling completed within 15 minutes. When the ignition is switched on, the engine oil level is shoby j.davis - Main Forum
My post was intended to prevent people from looking futilely for brake fluid that you recommended--O.K., in the past--but is no longer available in the USA (or the EU as I now understand it). jDby j.davis - Main Forum
But blue brake fluid is no longer DOT approved or legal for use or sale in the USA. jDby j.davis - Main Forum
Thanks for looking. jDby j.davis - Parts for Sale
When I did autocrossing, I would remove the passenger seat in my Nissan 300ZX and use that space to hold two wheels/tires.by j.davis - Main Forum
Boxstoberfest is a low-key weekend filled with fun Porsche events in a great location. The 18th annual Boxstoberfest is scheduled for the weekend of September 7 - 9, 2018. While originally focused towards owners of the Porsche Boxster, Boxstoberfest has evolved to welcome all Porsche models.by j.davis - Boxstoberfest
Not meaning to sound pedantic, but Memorial Day is a solemn day of remembrance for everyone who has died serving in the American armed forces, as two uncles of mine did. It's not a celebration and there's nothing happy about it. jDby j.davis - Main Forum

I'd like to install a digital volt-meter on my fusebox cover, as you did. Is there a technical article on selecting and installing the meter? Thanks in advance. jDby j.davis - Main Forum
