QuoteGuenter in Ontario Where does this guy live? I just want to know which neighbourhood to avoid in my travels. the license plate frame on the rear said Houston so i don't think you have to worry too much g-man!by frogster - Main Forum
i rented one years ago and drove to the south of france and onwards to barcelona for a week or 10 days (i don't remember exactly) this was just before i bought my 2000 Boxster S so it was probably 1999 and thus the first generation SLK. The difference between the two could not be more extreme. The driver is anesthetized from any road feel. zero feedback from the steering wheel. the trunk was smalby frogster - Main Forum
how many children do you have? i seem to remember seeing pictures of new born grandchildren a while back. i guess there will be more coming soon!by frogster - Main Forum
that's interesting. i wasn't aware of this type of manufacturing. i guess i haven't torn an engine down for 30 years. thanks for explaining.by frogster - Main Forum
grant, what exactly do you mean by cracked rods? i would take it at literal value, meaning that there are cracks in the rods, but after reading marc's comments, i'm left wondering if that's right. why would you put broken rods back together?by frogster - Main Forum
All the best wishes for a very happy 2017 to all. And thanks again Pedro for keeping this group together here on this board.by frogster - Main Forum
best wishes to everyone on this board. it's great that we're still here.by frogster - Main Forum
…to fix a rotting rubber gasket. How very "Porsche." This kind of gouging makes me loathe this company.by frogster - Main Forum
I read that in today's news as well. Ughhh. It's finished guys, it's finished.by frogster - Main Forum
I didn't watch the video earlier but wow, what a sound! Guenter, you hit the nail squarely on the head. I just realized that my post could have been interpreted meaning that old exhaust sounds don't matter. Far from it, they are the only ones that matter. It's the new ones that don't matter. That video inspired me to go find an old 911 and make it sound like the one on the video.by frogster - Main Forum
After reading the replies, I'm not entirely sure that my post was interpreted in the way I intended it to be. I love the sound of a nice exhaust. I really loved the sound of a nice exhaust when they were "hand made" and expressed individuality as opposed to the "go out and buy a car with a cool sounding exhaust" of today. Like everything else, instant gratification with zero effort or creativeby frogster - Main Forum
I seem to remember that in the days of hot rods, everyone's car sounded different. You didn't just go buy a car that sounded great. I'm sure someone here will correct me but that's my recollection. One would actually piece together their own idea of perfection and with that came individuality. I think the same was true for rock and pop music. Bands sounded like they did because they would put toby frogster - Main Forum
Something that I always wanted to do and something I highly recommend doing. I don't think that one can even come close to imagining the sheer scale of the operation without seeing it first hand. The German defenses that the British, Canadian, and American troops faced and the losses they endured to succeed are unthinkable. It is truly awe inspiring.by frogster - Main Forum
I remember you too. I think there are still quite a few old timers here. Maybe we don't post as often as we used to though. It has been seven years since i sold my boxster. Feels like a lifetime. I still peek in here once in a while. Back on topic, I didn't know that people were getting discoloration with the factory bulbs. That's not okay. I thought it was only happening when people put in higby frogster - Main Forum
Pedro, are the stock bulbs from the factory not halogen?by frogster - Main Forum
If your low beams were almost non existent then I'm guessing that your bulbs were probably burnt out and what you saw was the light from the parking lights inside the headlight housing. These are 5W bulbs. Very different from non-German cars. The bulbs that you mention are 55W and would be the same wattage as the standard bulbs that come with the car. I believe all headlight bulbs for this applby frogster - Main Forum
Quotegrant. By the way, his own story about himself on the track indicated that he's either careless or a bit clueless on this topic. Two spin on the first lap? really? And he doesnt know why? Grant I got the impression that he didn't know why when it happened but that event taught him the lesson and he learned about tires afterwards. Now he's sharing what he has learned. Interesting point of view. Also makes me think about the various threads about what mods to do to get more power while ignoring tires, brakes, and suspension.by frogster - Main Forum
if you zoom in, you'll see the "N" sticker in the rear window just behind the driver's seat/headrest. is it normal that a new driver should be driving a mclaren?by frogster - Main Forum
it is so common to see expensive cars, some of them very expensive like lambos and ferraris with the "N" on back for "new driver." wow, a new driver with 500 or more HP under their right foot. there was another case of this a few weeks ago when a kid took his dad's mercedes and was doing well over 200kph (120mph for the metrically challenged) ON A CITY STREET for crying out loud. he wiped out andby frogster - Main Forum

whoops. didn't see that thread. sorry!!by frogster - Main Forum
if this imposter, "new 718," only sounded half-as-good as the real one. enjoy this marketing schlock but try not to barf at the corny ending. i don't care how much of this marketing BS porsche tries to shove down our throats, the boxster is not a 718 "Living Legacy." How can they blaspheme the original like that?by frogster - Main Forum
the belgians are notorious in europe for their lack of driving skills. it used to be that all do did was apply for one and it was given to you. no test. i think it was like that until some time in the 70s but i'm not sure. there is a joke in switzerland that if you fail your driver's license test three times they give you belgian license plates.by frogster - Main Forum
i was doing a course with the boxster on a track designed for teaching safety. The track had simulated ice (resin coated road with water), wet areas, skid pads, etc. there was some training going on there that involved some big articulated buses, the kind with the two cabins, three axles, and an accordion section in the middle, skidding on water. THAT was impressive.by frogster - Main Forum
"These things are retirement-village Lamborghinis." "The Cascada comes off the line like an arthritic bloodhound comes off the couch when called—painfully, noisily, yet eager to please." i have never heard of nor seen this car either. in the photos it doesn't look too bad. maybe i can pick one up used in a few years. i've always wanted a lamborghini.by frogster - Main Forum
