Marc, I just did two DE days, so that should have sloshed the gas around a bit. I did some playing with the PST2 the other day. If I remember correctly, on a scale of 0-18 the chart was about 14 gallons. Tank holds 16.9. I'll try the PST2 again. The car is in storage all winter, almost 6 months. I do put Stabil in the tank. I'll try some Techron before I start taking things apart. Thanks, Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Thanks all. My "local" Bosch Master Tech can reset readiness codes on some vehicles. My "local' Porsche dealer doesn't know the reset cycle. Marc, I've driven it, ('04 GT3), several cycles similar to what you describe. Today, some idle from cold, some town, 50+ miles of Interstate, some city and a little idle, to the Bosch Tech. Still failed the state test. He couldn't reset the GT3 readinessby Ed B - Main Forum
Anyone know the cycle to reset the readiness codes on an '04? Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
I was trying to avoid that. I don't have enough gas cans. I suppose I can put the gas in my other cars. I have a PST2. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Hi all, New problem. Gas gage only reads 3/4 full when full. Filled up after DE and gage read 3/4. Figured it was me or the pump. Topped it off at home, still 3/4. Didn't take much. No PST2 codes. Sending unit? Any ideas? Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Right. They are brass. Not a good application for brass. It stress cracks, too. I did a temporary fix with well-nuts and will replace them with nutserts as soon as I get the kit from a local PCAer. Thanks to all for your suggestions and help. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
A perfect weekend at NCR-PCA's Make-A-Wish DE. Temps in the high 70's and no rain. (And no incidents) Charity laps and rides for 60 MAW and Dreamcatcher kids. And a silent art auction benefiting MAW. $6000 raised for MAW and a lot of happy kids. Drove home with the top down on the Boxster. On Monday, Changed back to street trim, (Removed race seat, 5 point belts, swapped track wheels for street oby Ed B - Main Forum

Pedro, hope you heal soon. Get some PT as soon as you can. Injuries can come back to haunt you many years later. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Tom, I'm well aware of it's potential. Since I'm Safety Chair for NCR-PCA and Chief Steward I'll have to be careful. I've learned a little as I've gotten older. I'm also a PCA DE National Instructor and held an SCCA National competition license for about 10 years, racing 550A-RS and an Elva BMW Mk 8. My wife won't let me track it, so I'm safe there. Should be great for passing slow traffic. (Perby Ed B - Main Forum

The Boxster is speechless. It's lightly optioned. Standard radio, floor mats, A/C, ceramic brakes and Xenon lights. It's really quick. Blink and you will be going 20mph faster. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum

My '00 Boxster S was lonesome for some one closer to his age. I promised him some upgrades and would try to find him a new friend. His new friend arrived last Thursday. ('04, 3600 miles, never registered) Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum

Me too. Same symptoms. Definitely the battery. I had a battery maintainer on it, but it may have become disconnected. Battery was completely dead. It's only a couple of years old. Did a long slow charge with a regular charger and it came back. Ed B (2000S)by Ed B - Main Forum
I posted those photos since someone was interested in how the IMS was mounted in the case. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Here are a couple of pictures showing an IMS in a case half. I hope! Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Higher speeds do seem to help the life of the IMS bearing. The additional oil spray can't hurt either. Bearing life can be predicted statistically based on degree of risk. Tolerances, finishes, hardness, lubrication, etc. All have an effect on life. While the IMS bearing is not a high speed bearing, centrifugal force on the balls will take some of the load off the inner ring, which is the moreby Ed B - Main Forum
Hydrogen in the bearing exploding and damaging the seal? I think not. Hydrogen is very reactive and would combine with the oil/grease. Bearing seals have a steel insert and do not come out of a bearing easily. As for high pressure in the crankcase, modern engine crankcases are designed to have a small vacuum. Think air-oil separator. If you have a pressurized crankcase you have other problems. Noby Ed B - Main Forum

Time to put the Boxster to sleep for the winter. A foot of snow last night in NH! New all time record. Guess I'll have to plow. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
There is a situation that can result in loss of braking, particularly with track tires. With very hard braking, the ABS system thinks the car is on ice and reduces pressure to the calipers to about 25%. Not good at the end of a long straight. For more go to the Rennlist 996 forum and search ABS ICE mode. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Ollie, The early Boxsters had smaller wheel bearings than the "S" and later models. And you are using Hoosiers. I'll analyze the bearings if you want. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
Yes, with modern low profile tires. With older narrow profile (ie 165 x 15) the opposite is true. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
The design of modern wide tires, (30,40, 50, etc. series) requires proper (more) air pressure to push out the side walls to flatten the center of the tread. Low pressure will cause wear in the center. This is the opposite of older, narrow tires, (78, 80 series) where higher pressures will cause the tread to wear in the center. My Boxster with a lots of negative camber has more wear on the insideby Ed B - Main Forum
I believe I do. What do you need? I think I fixed the CASE. Some feed back through the instrument cluster. I cleaned all the connections and the problem is solved, I hope. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
We did OK here in central NH, 4" of rain and some strong winds. A few washed out roads and bridges, power outages and flooded basements. We were kept busy at the FD supplying generators and pumps and helping the DPW and police with closing roads and welfare checks. There were two fires, a generator and a garage with some damage to the house. Ed Bby Ed B - Main Forum
