Thank you for the suggestions. I may just live with it. Neilby Wyominguy - Main Forum
All, I have a very minor question about my 2001 Boxster S. When I raise or lower both windows at the same time the passenger and driver’s windows arrive at the top and the bottom about .5 seconds apart. Is there a way to adjust this so the hit the top and bottom at the same time? Thanks, Neilby Wyominguy - Main Forum
Mine broke on my previous 2001 986S when it had maybe 30,000 miles on it. I replaced it myself and it worked fine. Neilby Wyominguy - Main Forum
All, I swore I was going to drive my 2001 Boxster S forever that I first found on this board back in 2005 but I could not pass up the chance to buy another 2001 S here in Iowa with only 18,000 miles on it. I just listed my "old" one for sale here and on other sites in my local area. Has anyone else purchased a 20 year-old car with that low of mileage? Boxsterra, I believe you are correct. I checked the reservoir yesterday and found nothing on the dipstick. I added some to it. I am glad that NAPA carries the correct fluid. Thanks, Neilby Wyominguy - Main Forum
Frogster, I see that. Thank you, Neilby Wyominguy - Main Forum

All, I recently changed the serpentine belt on my 2001 Boxster S for the second time at 109,000 miles. When I finished I noticed what appears to be a fluid leak of some kind in the engine compartment directly behind the drivers seat. This photo was taken before I reinstalled the front engine cover. Is this normal wear or is it indicative of something I need to repair? Thanks, Neilby Wyominguy - Main Forum
I wanted to post a photo in asking a question and checked out how to post photos. Tinypic is out of business and the other one requires a fee now. Is there another way to post a photo here? Neilby Wyominguy - Main Forum
Pedro, The guy moving was a car guy writer. It was his friend who was briefly shown talking to at a lunch that I thought looked like you. Regardless, thank you for what you do with this website. Neilby Wyominguy - Main Forum
Pedro, Did I catch a brief glimpse of you on an episode of House Hunters where a car guy writer was moving to somewhere like Scotland or Ireland? Neilby Wyominguy - Main Forum
All, Thanks for all the comments and suggestions posted here. I was out of state last week but had taken the Boxster into my mechanic while I was out of town. I shared all the comments here. Bottom line: they found the same codes I had and finally found it was an intake vacuum leak. The leaking hose was reattached and tested and everything works perfectly. It was a little pricey at well over $30by Wyominguy - Main Forum
Boxterra, My mechanic got back to me today and he wanted to start with the spark plugs (I replaced them on schedule a few years ago and will likely have him do it as I am not that ambitious anymore!) and then move the coils around to isolate the problem before replacing them. Marc, The AOS was replaced about four years ago at 89,000 miles. It sounds like I will print out all of the suggestions here and take it to my mechanic. If he is not comfortable I will need to take it a couple of hours away to the dealer. Thanks, Neilby Wyominguy - Main Forum
All, I have begun to have multiple fault codes on my 2001 Boxster S with 107,000 miles on it. I have cleared them twice and cleaned the MAF (which was replaced at 63,000 miles) but they keep showing up plus when the check engine light comes on the car runs about 10-15 degrees hotter. Here are the codes listed: PO300 - Porsche fault code 62 misfire damaging to cat converter PO306 - Porsche fauby Wyominguy - Main Forum

All, Well I finally got my new key head from Sunset Porsche and drove to Omaha Porsche to have it programmed. I am happy to report that everything now works great with that key. My other one would need replaced also if I was planning on using it much since it barely operates the remote functions (only occasionally and only when next to vehicle). BTW, Omaha Porsche was great! I wish there were stby Wyominguy - Main Forum
Both keys were acting the same last fall when the problem first appeared. The key I have always used most has now given up the ghost (no visible light when pressing) and it feels like nothing is happening when I press it. I am waiting for a replacement key head that is on its way from Sunset Porsche so I will check it out after getting it programmed. I will check the codes again tomorrow to see iby Wyominguy - Main Forum
All, I have searched the archives for a solution to this problem but have not been successful. Late last fall my 2001 Boxster S began to fail to allow me to use my key to remotely lock and unlock the car including opening either trunk. On occasion it would work if I was really close to the door. Of course I tried replacing the batteries in both key fobs more than once to no avail. I just decidedby Wyominguy - Main Forum
Thanks to Mark W and Boxsterra for the reply. The problem was when I replace the forward cross tube the small vacuum line did not get put on securely enough to stay on. When I took the tube off I found that line was not connected. Everything with the AOS was great. I can't speak highly enough of this community and the help they have provided to me over the past 8 years of Boxster ownership.by Wyominguy - Main Forum
All, I spent a few hours changing out the AOS today (thanks Pedro for the instructions you have posted online). But when I start the car it fires up and then immediately begins to backfire and then dies. I checked for codes with the Durametric but there are none that it is throwing out. Any ideas all? Had the windshield in my 2001 Boxster S replaced last year at the dealer and they used Safelite. It turned out great! Could not believe how much easier to see out the window. Windshields can be damaged and will crack while sitting if the weather changes. Just happened to my 2013 Audi S4 last week. Got a rock tossed at us on Tuesday while on a trip and went out to the car on Thursday and noticed aby Wyominguy - Main Forum

My other ride is a 2013 Audi S4. Much faster, quieter, and comfortable than the Boxster. This is our retirement car for taking trips to see the kids, travel, etc. But nothing beats the Boxster for driving here in on the twisty roads in Yellowstone Country. I did not buy this car to drive in the snow or scrape ice from it. So it stays in its bedroom with the electric blanket on from November until late March. Neil 2001 Boxster Sby Wyominguy - Main Forum
