I repllaced mine a year ago. I got a great price thanks to Spec Racing discards. It is straight froward, you have to remove some braces and the windshield wipers, but definitely DIY worthy. Burping the coolant system is required.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I replaced the heater core a few thousand miles back, but now when I turn on the AC, I smell fertilizer, my wife (with a far more refined olfactory sense says, electrical). The car is a '99 with 118k well enjoyed miles. Everything is running great, daily driver, no CEL, but looking for input on the new stank. Bobby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
There is a device that Porshce sells for use with a child seat that deactivates the air bag. My dog Cayman likes to ride in the Boxster too.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Your story is exactly why I am concerned about trading in my "well used" 1999 with 118,000 miles. When I first got her, I was so concerned with where I parked, every blemis and swirl mark. Now after 11 years together (I bought her on '02 with 20k miles) we have been though a lot. She was stolen by bank robbers in '04 and has spent most of her life without a garage over her top, but is still my daby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I picked up a 6' ladder in my Boxster the other day, it fit just fine with the top down.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I did teach my daughter to drive a stick with the Boxster, but only under my supervision. She's happy with her Beetle convertible.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Actually the driver, it was definitely love at first sight. As we raised kids, the 914 sat in need of major renovation. It was Joanie that convinced we to buy the Boxster. At 119k she's running as well as our marriage. We've made so many friends as a result of the car. Attending a BRBS is definitely on the bucket list. I've been spending too much time in Chuck's backyard in NC, but hope to spendby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
When I met my wife, she was driving her 914. I'm not saying that was a deal sealer, but we'll be celebrating our 25th in July!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I had just detailed the car for a drive down to Palm Springs and was setting the Cruise Control on Highway 5 (I won't mention what I set it at ) and hit the headight washer by mistake. Not only did it spray the car, the hose came loose and drained the resevoir!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I was on the fence, my wife talked me into the Boxster and we've NEVER regretted it!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum

I too have switched to a 5k oil change interval, when you buy the oil at WallyWorld and DIY, it's too cheap not to do it more frequently.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum

Please send some of your snow to California, we'll gladly accept it. The Ski Season is a disaster and we are sitting at 30% of normal precipitation. While you're at it, Texas will take some off your hands, they are now delivering water in trucks to some drought stricken towns.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum

Sorry to hear of your loss, hopefully the new pup will help ease the loss. Dogs should live much longer. It seems like only yesterday we were taking Cayman as a pup to Mavericks to watch the surfers.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
We have two 90 lb shepherds (Cayman & Cayenne) and I have to be careful with road dips when I have 100 pounds of dog food (ballast) in the front truck. Here's Cayman out for a ride in the Boxster:by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
When you replaced your AOS, had it failed completely? You mentioned you cleaned the throttle body and replaced the MAF at the same time, however if oil entered the intake system, there could be residual oil that fouled the MAF after it was replaced. When my '99 had about 30k miles, I had the same problem, cutting out at ~5500 rpm, as if it hit a rev limiter. I replaced the MAF and never looked baby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
The average motorist would be no better off if any of these are displayed. Most of them can be the result of multiple problems. Solid light means have it looked at, flashing light means pull over. Heck, I haul lumber in my Boxster, not a pallet of plywood, but a few 2 x 4s or trim pieces on occasion. Your comment made me think a Dodge Caravan commercial that running now... Dodge Caravan - "right tool for the job"by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum

The average person would never be able to interpret what the CEL is indicating. It reports issues that aid a mechanic, i.e. P0###, identifying some emission issue. This could indicate bad gasoline, a faulty O2 sensor, a vacuum leak or just a lose gas cap. The ECU can only report the fault, it requires someone with knowledge of cars to determine the real problem, so I'm not sure how anything otherby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
