Quotedb997S Could it be a fuel pump or filter issue? It doesn't take a noticeble leak to smell gas. If it is seeping a bit, most of it will evaporate and you wouldn't see a stain on the garage floor. Older cars, the filter used to be the first thing to check with gas odor. No filter switch, it's a 2003 with one of those new fangled "lifetime" filtersby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum

2003 Boxster base, approx 59k I am getting a gasoline smell in the cabin and outside of the vehicle; no apparent leaks; mpg are in the 21/26 range. Any thoughts? Cheersby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum

Quotebigmach the inner door handle seems to work fine, it goes back to the original position when released. However, now I have the issue of the window not going down by half an inch when opening the door. If i want to change the regulator, how difficult of a project is it? any webpages somewhere with pictures of this DIY? Also, any recommendations on websites with good prices on parts? QuotePedro (Weston, FL) What you describe is the typical symptom of the bad regulator. Could the shard of glass be from the original window that was broken and replaced? Happy Boxstering Pedro I couldn't answer whether there had been a previous broken glass. Thanks for the rest, I will look into replacing the regulator. Any opinions on whether using a salvaged regulator would be a good ideaby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
QuotePedro (Weston, FL) You may have had two problems, one of which has been corrected. The mechanism with the micro switch now works. You also have a bad window regulator. This is very common on older Boxsters and Carreras. Happy Boxstering Pedro Thank you, Pedro, as an immediate aside, thank you for maintaining this board. It's existence is invaluable. So, by now you have already probably guessed that the Boxster I purchased is a bit of a project. My current project is the passenger window that did not descent the fraction of an inch when you pull the door handle (interior or exterior). I thought the problem was the door-lock mechanism so, this afternoon, I opened up the door and replaced the mechanism. Well, after putting everything backby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
Trying doing a search for a MOST compatible head unit and you are SOL it seems. I much prefers old CDR22 (or whatever it was). At least that gave you better options.by mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
Quoteouroboros I added a touchscreen DVD/Satnav 2 DIN unit for a while and went into the CDR 23 with a FM modulator. It sounded okay, but then I realized the maps & music on my iPhone were better than any aftermarket 2 din out there (even in the newest OEM car today). You can take an iPhone/iPod via the 3.5mm Becker telephone jack I think. Only Mono, but being as this sound system isn't theby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum

I am sure this topic has been addressed ad nauseam, but what is everyone's opinion re the CDR23 and how to address its shortcomings? Particularly, I think it is a substandard receiver to have with the BOSE package (which my Boxster has) and the inability to use any USB/iPod device is infuriating. So what are some suggestions to address this rather minor issue? I know the Denison Gateway 500by mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
Quotejg atl The first time, I had removed the assembly to work on something (don't remember what). I noticed that the wiring cable was wrapped strangely and I decided to clean things up and untangle it. When I went to re-insert the headlight, I could never get it to seat correctly and only some functions on the headlamp unit worked. QuoteLaz but bad connections and or grounds in the headlight and fender can do some mighty strange things, too. You do have the most obvious problem there. Yeah, looks like I will be making an online order with DCAutomotive lol As an aside, the "bolts" I appear to be missing are, to the best of my knowledge, "Headlight Adjusters." QuoteGuenter in Ontario I'm not an expert in this area, but it seems that you've made no other changes. I'm wondering if it's the switch that is going as Laz suggested earlier. QuoteLaz With my 2001 Litronic equipped car the whole headlamp assembly seemed to act as an essential part of the grounding, even though there's a wire harness plugged in. (Actually that's something to check: is it properly seated?) But back to the grounding. I noticed with mine if the headlight assembly wasn't completely "home" the lighting wouldn't operate. The only work that has been done is that recently replaced the parking bulb. Now here is the tricky part since I know you will ask next: no, I did not notice if I had the problem prior to replacing the bulb because - and I admit this with much embarrassment - I did not know I had fog lights until last night lol (my previous Boxster was a 99 without fog lights and I just got this 2003 recently).by mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
QuoteLaz The rotary light switch has icons with detents at about the 10 to 11 o'clock position. You may see the associated rear taillight also on, so the car is illuminated for approaching traffic in both directions. I think they're gotten to by partly pulling the switch out, but not necessarily to where the fog light detent is. By the way, all the way out lights the rear fog, which is only on thby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum

Ok guys, a little update. I have been driving the vehicle occasionally and am loving every minute of it. I have done some research on my various issues and have a few questions (updates): 1) As to the poster that asked where the vibrations were coming from, it is exclusively in the "seat of my pants" as you put it ... i.e. it seems to come from behind, any suggestions? 2) as to the CEL P0430by mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum

Hey guys, thank you so much for all your help! As for the path I have taken, I am leaning along the lines of MarkW. Point in fact, the car drives great and there only appears to be one error code (the aforementioned). The odor is still there but its not too bad. I do have a question, should I drive it further, and lets say another problem does come come-up (i.e. another error code) will tby mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
Yeah, the CEL is not flashing and the temp doesn't read higher than about 180 or so. Also, Oil is within acceptable levels. I haven't noticed any leaks, what should i look for?by mnchstrcityblues79 - Main Forum
Thank you so much for all your suggestions, guys Long and short of it, I have some tinkering and then some mechanic scheduling to do ... Unfortunately I travel a lot so I am not sure when that will happen. Now the important question: "Is it safe to drive especially with the potential cat problem? Will I harm the vehicle?"
