Marc, my sincere condolences o the passing of your dad, and so sorry to hear about all the other problems you're going through. I know it's hard, but keep your chin up...this too shall pass.by Tino - Main Forum
Quotediegotola That's a great idea. Maybe I can even get the shop to help broker a deal. I assume I would have to send a cashier check and then the shop can ship the car to me. The car I saw was in Bedford, New Jersey. Know any good shops there? Thanks for all your responses. I used to have an 2004 boxster s on lease and I returned it. Later I got an 05 boxster a and drove it for a while. It waby Tino - Main Forum
Where in NJ is the car? It's a small state, but it can still take several hours to get from one place to another depending on the exact location, traffic, etc. One suggestion would be to hire a local independent shop to do a PPI for you before you finalize the deal. Another option is to have one of us locals do a private inspection for you, but of course you are then relying on the expertise of tby Tino - Main Forum
Sorry to hear about your engine. The IMS went away with the 2009 models.by Tino - Main Forum
For whatever is worth, my car came with PZero Rosso's when I bought it. As the tires wore, they became very noisy and hard as a brick. I switched to Michelin Pilot Sports and then Super Sports. No comparison - the Michelins have been far better.by Tino - Main Forum
Someone at the paper forgot a small detail: the first 50 Porsches were built entirely in Austria.by Tino - Main Forum
Thank you for the trip report, Mike. It really sounds like a wonderful vacation. Cathy and I were fortunate to have spent 8 years in Europe as expats, living in France and Italy, so we can relate to your comments about the beauty of the areas you visited, and the driving! We also spent one evening at the Stuttgart Canstatterfest (Oktoberfest) and remember it fondly. I got a kick out of the localsby Tino - Main Forum
Enjoy! Many years ago, my wife and I went on one of these trips, and it is a memory that will last a lifetime. We were driving 993's back then, just to give you a sense of the "epoch". On that trip, Pete Sonntag had a photographer tag along, taking pictures of all the participants, and at the end of the trip we were given a chance to order a photo album, somewhat customized for each of us. Are you doing a PorscheFest tour?by Tino - Main Forum
Hope your sister continues to do well, Marc, and best wishes to you while going through all this.by Tino - Main Forum
Congrats on the doggie and the car, Dennis. They both look very good. Considering the dog, I like your designation of the car as a "DGS". By the way, does the car come in awd or 4wd?by Tino - Main Forum
Wow, from Berlin and LA to Iowa! There must be quite a story there. Good luck with the change and the move, and of course, the car. Let us know what you do and how you make out.by Tino - Main Forum
Saw an interesting sign in the California desert, on a little-used side street that lets out onto the main road through the area: And they say that personal freedom is disappearing...by Tino - Main Forum
Wow, that must have been some household accident! Let me add my best wishes for recovery to all those that were already posted. Take it easy, stay safe, and good health (again) to you.by Tino - Main Forum
QuoteGuenter in Ontario The "blip" would have to be before the lower gear is engaged. The idea of the "blip" is to match the engine speed to where it should be in the lower gear it's shifting to. Also, I don't see how you could "blip" the engine if any gear is engaged. Guenter, the transmission simply matches engine speed for the gear, something that all transmissions do, except that in some caby Tino - Main Forum
Quotefrogster at 4:44 i noticed a little throttle blip in what appears to have been a slowing down for a curve. it seemed very human, not something i thought a PDK box would do. anyone with a PDK care to comment?[/quot From driving a 2012 Boxster with PDK, I know that the transmission downshifts by itself when you are decelerating from high speeds, and not just when the car reaches the lower geaby Tino - Main Forum

Thank you, Frogster. For the last couple of days I've been having a running discussion with my wife about the correct way to say "Bayer". You gave me ammunition. BTW, she does know how to pronounce Porsche.by Tino - Main Forum
Another vote for a 2009 or newer, for two reasons: no IMS and updated PCM. You also have a choice of DFI engine (the S model) or non-DFI (the base car). I have had a '97. an '01, and now a '12, and I have to say that the '12 is the "sportier" feeling Boxster by a good margin. To each his own, so as others have said, drive the cars and take your pick.by Tino - Main Forum
Somewhere I read that the new engine does not have a hot wire sensor anymore; it uses manifold pressure instead to calculate air flow.by Tino - Main Forum
OK, I have been here for two years and I haven't run across that car yet. I guess I've been lucky. Welcome back to the desert, Dennis.by Tino - Main Forum
We have ventilated seats in the Boxster. My wife fell in love with them as soon as she tried them. You do feel a difference, with your torso and back getting noticeably cooler almost immediately when you turn them on, top up or top down. They work independently of the AC, I believe. As for noise, if you listen for it, you'll hear the fans. If you are not paying particular attention to them, youby Tino - Main Forum
Thanks for the good wishes, and the same back to you and your families. Dennisafrompa, if you come out west this (next) year, let me know.by Tino - Main Forum
OK, with apologies to those up North, these pictures were taken a few months ago, but the view will not change very much in the months to come:by Tino - Main Forum
Nice pictures, but if it was 22 oC, it seems awfully early to be going into hibernation. Why not drive it until it gets to about 10 or 5 oC on a consistent basis? In any case, thanks for the nice views.by Tino - Main Forum
It's great to see the fall colors again. I know that they precede winter, but driving around in a nice car in the fall "almost" makes it worthwhile. Enjoy it while it lasts!by Tino - Main Forum
No rain at all, either there or on the way there and back. It was just about a perfect day weather-wise. I know what you mean about the band: I am a big fan of German Volksmusik (although not necessarily oompah music) and I actually had some in the iPod in the car. It was fun listening to it on the way back after the Oktoberfest at the lake.by Tino - Main Forum
Unfortunately I do not remember the specific name of the paint on the car, but it was a light silver color, which from memory I would say is close to the modern-day arctic silver. I don't know if they had such a name back in '73.by Tino - Main Forum
My wife and I went to the Lake Arrowhead "Timeline" Show yesterday. The show is put on by the Riverside Region of PCA, and no, it does not have anything to do with Facebook. The idea is similar, though: show examples of Porsche cars from the beginning up to modern times, arranged more or less chronologically in a nice location. The cars were parked all over the "village" section of the town and bby Tino - Main Forum
