Selling a set of wheels with winter tires, $800 plus shipping costs. Bought wheels in 2012 from another person on here, bought tires in 2013. Used the tires for one and half Iowa winters, and have stored dry in tied plastic bags when not in use. Tires are Pirelli Winter Sottozero: Rear 235/50R-17 and, Front 205/55R-17. Wheels are original porsche, 17" in a style that I believe was optionalby Steve (Morro Bay) - Parts for Sale
Probably not the ultimate comparison, but fun to watch.by Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
Maybe the amount of residual charge needed to get push-aided ignition to work is also enough for the car to do the RFID thing (or whatever it does) to recognize the key.by Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum

has anyone here ever push-started their boxster? I mean, getting the car to start by pushing it up to some small speed and then popping the clutch. I was stuck with a dead battery a few nights ago and wondered about it while waiting for the tow truck to come give me a proper electrical jump. I used to push-start my first car all the time. That was a 1987 carbureted pickup. Is there anythingby Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum

I've taken my 03 for one or two 2k mile trips. Each was a joy. I envy your chance.by Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
here's what i used. Oh and yes, I took the wheels off. That might not be necessary, but it makes it easier to see what's what. grease gun: grease: (this is a lifetime supply, way more than is needed) injector needle: (frighteningly sharp) silicone sealant: (didn't really use)by Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
Noises seem to have stopped after about the first 20 miles or so of driving, when I guess the grease was working into things. Thrilled to have this sorted. For anyone else trying, I'd suggest going easy on the amount of grease. I put too much at first and a fair amount squished back out of the hole I'd made. It was easy to clean it up, but I was then reluctant to seal the hole since I didn'by Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
So far so good, but it'll be a while before I'm confident that I have or haven't fixed it. If this works, it's an awesome fix for costing just $40 worth of interesting new additions to the toolbox.by Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
For the two years that I was in Iowa, I found the Porsche resources pretty scarce. Luckily, I didn't have any major issues while there.by Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
I replaced it, twice now. I believe that the switch malfunctions, and the car can tell, thus the computer doesn't know whether or not the pedal is depressed. That makes computerized braking features unable to work. So they shut down, hence the warning lights. It really isn't a very expensive part (10 bucks). If you like DIY things, and if you are good at yoga, I recommend trying that beforeby Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
The guy does the WD40 fix that you describe, and it seems to work. I'm going to try the grease injection instead. Hope it lasts longer.by Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
Thanks all, for the helpful tips. It's become loud enough now that I'm going to switch to my backup car (boxster!) until I fix it, either myself or at my local indy.by Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
I've developed a creak in the front suspension of my 07 cayman. If I just stand next to it and push on the front end, it's plenty audible, especially when hot or warm. I read somewhere that it could be the sway bar bushings. Anyone have experience with that? Can I just spray some lubricant on them, or do I need to replace them, or the whole bar? Thanks for ideas... I have to replace my tire pressure monitoring sensors, and I'm curious if anyone has been adventurous with brand. Pelican and Autohausaz have them for (unless I'm misreading the sites) about $120 for a single sensor. Does that sound about right? For about the same price on ebay, I found what looks to be a set of all four sensors as well as valve stems and a remote screen (presumably for peopleby Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum

Sounds like my local indy shop can do it then. It's a bit of a bummer that Porsche has built it this way. Seems like a somewhat dirty trick, but maybe all car makers do the same dirty trick. Oh well.by Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
After a countdown of "service in X days" warnings, my 2007 cayman has been telling me to "service now" for a while now. Does anyone know if I can get it to stop telling me that without going to a dealer? I do almost all of the car's maintenance myself, and don't want to go to a dealer just to shut off the little announcement. I tried disconnecting the battery with no luck. I didn't leave it dby Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
I hadn't realized that it could be done without removing the tire from the wheel. If so, I'll certainly be doing this myself soon.by Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
I don't have an IOS device, so can't try it. It looks interesting, as though you can pick among a bunch of nice driving roads, and then ride along the route recorded from in a boxster? That's what it looks like anyway. Here's the link for it at the itunes store, . I'd be interested to hear how it is.by Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
Thanks Guenter. It was a little post dusk. Several things contribute to the lighting and halo effects. It's an HDR photo (which I think uses several shots instead of one, in order to better resolve things in bad lighting) and it's also a portion of a spherical panorama (something on some some android phones, using an algorithm similar to google's street view to stitch together different panelsby Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
It's nice to do it by garage light. I took this the night after returning to Iowa from a short work trip to a very toasty san luis obispo, which felt like a different planet.by Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
Maybe I'm a better person for the seams failing. As a direct result, I now own a sewing machine that I can actually operate!by Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
It too fell apart at the seams. I have re-sewn some of the torn parts, but I expect that the whole thing needs will ultimately need to be re-sewn. Maybe they switched to a thread which is especially damaged by UV light.by Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
Right, that's what I understood as well. The porsche description does say that it can cut throttle if needed. Maybe the indicator on the dash only pops up when it does that, and it could be engaging at other times just without my knowing it. Still, I think a lot more donut-like maneuvers in the local big box parking lots are in order for me to properly understand it. My girlfriend has a mercby Steve (Morro Bay) - Main Forum
