This is on a MY2000 base boxster with 103k miles. So put the top down the other day with no issue or drama, everything appeared normal, but at the end of the procedure noticed that the top idiot light in the front dash is still lit, and stays lit as I am driving the car. That's not normal, I thought to myself, and sure enough when I get back home and go to raise the top nothing happens when I pby scott in socal - Main Forum
Remember back in the day folks were "de-ambering", going with clears lenses but putting some paint on the bulb inside so it would still flash amber. What is that paint? Thanks.by scott in socal - Main Forum
I have a MY2000 base also and I had to replace that part at around your same mileage. Car would start fine when cold, but not after driving a while and stopping and trying to restart.by scott in socal - Main Forum
Then local indy installed it for about $250. Been good for over two years now, no issues.by scott in socal - Main Forum

Just to follow up. I finally had some time to check this out and it was indeed a fuse. A-3 to be exact. Thanks Guenter!!by scott in socal - Main Forum
By running lights, I mean the lights that are supposed to come on when you click the headlight switch one to the right. So the lights that are out are one in the front headlight assembly, the front side marker, and what looks like a couple of bulbs in the rear taillight assembly. I replaced the bulbs in the rear assembly to no affect, then noticed the front lights were out too. Any ideas as to whby scott in socal - Main Forum

Still looking for a good garage door lubricant. Seems like no matter what I try within about a month the squeaking returns.by scott in socal - Main Forum
They have improved their product dramatically in the last few years, and you can't beat a 10 year/100,000 warranty. I got a Kia Soul a couple of years ago for a daily driver and couldn't be happier. It has all the technology of cars costing twice as much or more for less than $20k. If you want more of a sedan look at the Optima.by scott in socal - Main Forum
If it happens again next time you fill up, you will know for sure.by scott in socal - Main Forum
that was taken off a late model boxster, and my local indie installed it for me for a couple hours labor. Total cost just under $300.by scott in socal - Main Forum
I think it's been about 10 years now since I had it done. Oh I would absolutely recommend it! Not having to wear glasses/contacts has been a godsend, especially for an active sort like me and someone who could not really wear contacts. At least go and get a free consultation to see if you're a candidate. I think at this point they've been doing it long enough and have fine tuned it so thatby scott in socal - Main Forum

Yes that is the part I replaced, commonly called the Crank Position Sensor. Seems to have fixed the problem. Vertex Auto has it now for $134, I got mine new on ebay for $129 no tax and free shipping, so I guess I did okay.by scott in socal - Main Forum
Are these two the same thing? I see there are two camshaft position sensors per engine - is this what you are referring to? Or is the crank position sensor something different? If so, where is it located? And is it easy to replace? Thanks.by scott in socal - Main Forum
So a couple months ago car wouldn't start after about a 1/2 hour drive. Cranked fine and everything, but just would not start. Finally got out and removed the gas cap and put it back on (the only thing I could think to try) and it started right up. Fast forward to today, and again it failed to start after a short drive. Of course the first thing I do is the gas cap trick, only this time it doby scott in socal - Main Forum

Well the clutch interlock switch may be a safety feature but it's also a feature that prevents the car from starting on occasion! lol I happen to think the pluses far outweigh the negatives in doing this free hack. The only other person who *might* drive my car would be a valet, in which case he would either a) depress the clutch while starting because he knows that's generally required, or b)by scott in socal - Main Forum
Then you don't have to worry about it and have the added benefit of not having to get in the car to start it. I love being able to reach in and start it, then do something else for a couple minutes while both the car and seats heat up. Usually a quick wipe of the rims or windshield. Then off you go!by scott in socal - Main Forum
