60 kilometer service completed on my 01 Boxster. Low kilometers on my car that is driven only in the Spring, Summer and Fall months. The independent shop has looked after the car for the last 20 years. After everyone’s suggestions we have a list of things to be checked in addition to the service. Ended up replacing the water pump and all hoses. Replaced all filters. Check and service all pullby Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
Yes the AOS was on my list. The car has run flawlessly for 20 years. Routine service and an over the top number of oil changes. Runs better than new. My indie is great and I just wanted to make sure everything was covered off at this service.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
Hi guys, my 986 is coming out of hibernation next week. It’s going for the 60k service. On top of the scheduled maintenance, any suggestions as to what should looked at, checked over or replaced at the same time? Appreciate your help. 01 986by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
Thank you. I have replaced it while the top was fully open. Just doesn’t seem super secure?by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
It’s a beauty. My dream Boxster or sure. I have had my 986 20 years and I am really getting the itch. Congrats. More pics please.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
I hope these pics work. This piece fell our of the drivers side while closing the top. Doesn’t seem broken. What does it do? How do I fix it? Please and thanksby Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
Yup. 15 Celsius about 60 F.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
Bright sunny day in Ontario. Temperatures in the mid teens. That's good enough for me to get my 01 Boxster out of winter storage. As always, it starts first time without a complaint. Very little smoke and soon settles down to a nice burble. After 20 years in never ceases to amaze me that the car starts and runs perfectly after winter storage. Every year its like getting a special spring time presby Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum

I used to work in media. One of the perks some of our writers had were loaner cars to test drive and hopefully write about. In 2001 those nice folks at Porsche Canada offered me a Porsche for a week just to enjoy. I wasn't a writer but my interest in sports cars and racing was widely known. They were just being nice to me. They delivered a Zenith blue Boxster to my office. I drove it home and couby Iwas There (Toronto) - 10 years of PB

So am I better to try and get hold of a 2003/2004 top and install it or am i better to order a GAHH top. My local installer in Southern Ontario wants $2500 Cdn to install a new top with plastic window or $2900 Cdn. for a new top with glass window. He has a supplier.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
Thank you for your help and suggestions. I am going to order a new top with the heated glass window and find someone locally to install it.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
New with heated glass window. installation is way beyond my limited skills. Looking for a shop to do it, west side of Toronto GTA.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum

Looking for suggestions where to source a new top for my Boxster. Any recommendations or advice would be appreciated. Thanksby Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
I played on the Porsche Car Configurator today. My Spyder spec lists at $130k Cdn. give or take a dollar and thats before tax!!!!! Ouch!by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
I do too!by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
Well let’s see. My 986 is 2001. I think Pete had the t shirts and hats in 2002. The community on PPBB was very active then with some really strange and fun contributors. I still have my 986, although I must confess I don’t drive it as much. My car through 18 years of ownership has been almost bullet proof. Only scheduled maintenance and lots and lots of oil changes.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
Thank you. My brain has gone soggy with the pic instructions!by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum

Congrats, love to hear more thoughts on your comparisons between the 986 and the 981.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
Thanks Petee, very similar to your crack. I was quoted $2500 cdn. plus tax to replace the top. Seems like nobody wants to repair the plastic window. Might try the tape meanwhile.by Iwas There (Toronto) - Main Forum
