I remember reading that in his old age Enzo Ferrari lost the use of his left leg, but he still would only drive a stick shift car. . Apparently it was pretty primitive but he had the idle turned up on his car so that he could slip the clutch out to launch the car in 1ST and then it was a brutal crash through the gears but it worked. If Enzo can do it you can tooby San Rensho - Main Forum
The Matra was designed by Volanis in 1973, the Gtv Was designed by Giugiaro in 1974, so it looks like the greatest car body designer ever (just wikipediate Giugiaro and you will see he designed the best Ferraris, Lambos, etc as well as some very mundane cars) was probably influenced by Volanis when he designed the GTV. The best car i've had is an 82 GTV 6 . I got it for very little, it was a faby San Rensho - Main Forum
Marc Partsgeek has a rebuilt Bosch starter for less than $170. I put one in and its worked fine for well over a year now. By the way, they are killing you on the labor. The book rate does include the labor to take off the intake manifold, but its really easy to repplace the atarter without taking to take off the manifold by going in behind the seats with a long extension to get at the one boby San Rensho - Main Forum
You have just discovered the Mediterranean Sea. Wow, techs talk trash. If the techs had charged for service they didnt perform, or had damaged the car and then lied about it, txhat might be news. Unfortunatly, this is a case of "keep walking, nothing here".by San Rensho - Main Forum
Just replace it. The going rate is around $100-150 for used one on ebay. Mine went south like yours, the used one works fine.by San Rensho - Main Forum

Depends on how deadbthe battery is. The electronics need a certain minimum voltage otherwise no fuel injection or spark. So yes, its possible.by San Rensho - Main Forum
Probably nothing serious. Try to put the smoke back in the wires, that might work. This product is for Brit cars, but it may work on Boxsters.by San Rensho - Main Forum
Yes, as soon as his back end came around, he should have stayed on the gas and gone to opposite lock but as you can see he froze and his wheels were stIll turned left, when they should have been all the way to the right. It may have saved him, but in that situation unless you are really good, once you catch it, many times it will just start to spin to the right, especially of you are off the gasby San Rensho - Main Forum
Well it's true you want to get away from the idiots, but I'd rather have then behind me. That's why I drive a good 10 mph or more faster than the flow of traffic. That way the idiots are behind me and all I have to do is worry about traffic in front of me. I hate driving in the rear view mirror.by San Rensho - Main Forum
You can also lower part of the exhaust system rather than take apart the suspension to get the axle out.by San Rensho - Main Forum
I never use my signal here in Miami when I'm on the freeway. The drivers here are the most aggressive, obnoxious jerks I have ever encountered. Its always a race on the roads here, so If you signnal, the idiot behind of you in the lane you want to change to will immediately speed up to make sure you can't change lanes and get in front of him. I just check and go.by San Rensho - Main Forum
Try opening the windows with the key in the door lock. Turn the key in the lock all the way to the left and hold it there. If the window opens, then the mechanism is good and it's an electrical problem somewhere on the cabin.by San Rensho - Main Forum
The washer is supposed to be lubricated. If you didn't lube it, it could just be wear that caused the deterioration.by San Rensho - Main Forum
Who looks at the speedo? The best thing about a Porsche is that the rev counter, the only important gauge, is front and center. Anyone who drives aggressively only cares about the rev counter. Speed? Who cares, the only thing you are concerned about is if you can get 100 more rpms the next time you go into a corner. F1 cars and Moto GP motorcycles don't even have speedos. So, what, are you afby San Rensho - Main Forum
Blah, blah, blah. It's very unlikely you have a head gasket leak. You likely hav e a cracked head. Is there any oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil. If so, there's the problem .by San Rensho - Main Forum
QuotePedro (Weston, FL) ... did not offer any official numbers on failure rates, except talk about a 10% general number. All of the sub-numbers are just conjecture and WAGs. From what I've seen, IMS bearing's failure rates are: '97-'00 cars about 2.5% '01-'05 cars about 14% '06-'08 cars about 1.5% '09 and newer are 0% The numbers are not wags. I'm sorry, your anecdotal evidence, based on a veryby San Rensho - Main Forum
Quoteyellowesty I REALLY don't intent to beat that dead horse again, but, before we ponder "the failure rate for the IMSB DOF retrofit," do we have any REAL DATA on the failure rate of the 986 (or early 987) IMSB? I'm NOT a denier. I recognize that there have been a significant number of IMSB failures and that the consequences of IMSB failures are serious (maybe "fatal," considering the marketby San Rensho - Main Forum
QuoteOllie I put a known good MAF in tonight with no change... agree with Vac leak, this has been my main thought BUT I can not find one AHHHHHHH Pinch off the hose small hose thats connected to the throttle body at the same connection for the AOS. Thats a line that connects to the EVAP system. If the MAF values go back to normal, then the vacuum leak is somewhere in the EVAP system.by San Rensho - Main Forum
Creaking can come from the lower control arm ball joint. The fix is to prick a small hole in the ball joint boot and spray WD40 into the boot. It worked on mine, but not for very long, couple of months at most.by San Rensho - Main Forum
The MAF readings are way too low. Check the MAF parameters for a bad MAF. If its ok, then low MAF readings indicate a vacuum leak.by San Rensho - Main Forum
Why does it have power steering at all? With a car that light, heck, even with our cars, you don't need power steering. No PS will give a more purist feel, which is what they are going after and save weight at the same time.by San Rensho - Main Forum
Push starting will probably not work. The ECU needs a certain threshold voltage or it will not work and you won't get FI or spark. I would jump or recharge. Heck, if you are getting a new battery anyway, just put the new one in.by San Rensho - Main Forum
The A and Fe are a little high, but not high enough to tear down the motor. If you are tracking the car, you might want to try Renn Line, Gibbs, Motul or another high quality oil at a fairly short oil change interval and see what numbers you get. Not a reason to panic, IMHO.by San Rensho - Main Forum

QuoteCrooster I have a Motive Power Bleeder that I have used many times to bleed the brakes and clutch on my 951 track car. I plan to do a brake fluid replacement in the near future on my 986 since I have no idea how long the fluid has been in there. Does the clutch pedal need to be held down when using a power bleeder? Yes, but if you just open the bleed valve and push the clutch pedal it wilby San Rensho - Main Forum
I'm sorry, but what's the big deal. Dead battery, pep boys has a Bosch perfect replacement for about $100. There, was that so hard?by San Rensho - Main Forum
You can also remove part of the exhaust to get the drive shaft out and thereby avoid taking apart the suspension which will require alignment.by San Rensho - Main Forum
Keep the tow hook in the pouch behind the drivers seat. Why? The most likely cenario for tow is going to be dead battery and guess what, unless you are very prepared, you are not going to get into the frunk where the tow hook is with a dead battery. Be sure the tow truck driver does not attach any tie downs to,the suspension. They love using chains and cranking them down hard on suspension meby San Rensho - Main Forum
