Jim ,I don't know if you read my post from a few months ago. I had that CEL for 2 years and finally fixed it this spring . one piece of my air cleaner assembly was missing . I guess somehow the outer frame had gone in the garbage . make sure you have all three parts. I would also look inside the air box for leaves on the screen and there is a water drain in the bottom which could be missing. , chby Alcantera - Main Forum

Last night I received a call from my oldest and dearest friend. He started the conversation with (" I think I may need a little automotive intervention") We have a life long pact ,neither will allow the other to buy a jag. He has a z06 vette which he loves , but you guys know how easy a new set of curves can turn a mans head. He has fallen in love with an 07 vantage. This is a tough one for me bby Alcantera - Main Forum

If its not the cap then look here; first remove the screws and look for signs of leaking around the base. These screws go into the plastic on the bottle if you overtightened them the screw holes look like little lumps . Take a counter sink and take only the bumps off , replace the "O" ring and then tighten very lightly . Only about as tight as you can turn a screw driver with your finger tipby Alcantera - Main Forum
Can you pressure test the system to see if you have a leak. I had a small leak at the base of the pressure relief valve; its very easy to over tighten the screws and pull the threads. It does not take much of a leak to cause the system to boil . pressure test and listen you should hear the leak. Never throw out old coolant tanks you never know when you will need relief valve parts. I just didby Alcantera - Main Forum
I see Mantis Racing makes a deep sump kit for the Cayman. I was replacing my coolant tank again, and thought to myself it would not be too hard to make an aluminum tank to replace the stock tank. I'm on my third tank so far. That looks kind of trick in your trunk. You are correct in making sure you have a constant supply of oil . I have always said, "That is more important than the type of oil."by Alcantera - Main Forum

I would clean out your shop vac completely then attach a clean piece of small diameter tube and try a little vacuum fishing in the spark hole . If you can, get a bore scope and see if you can locate the piece first. Its definitely time to go sit have a coffee and think this through . Do not start that motor. Removing the cam cover is also a possibility. A small magnet on a string can also beby Alcantera - Main Forum

I have always preferred the look of a Boxster over a Cayman. This morning I was surfing and found this picture on Planet 9. I guess it was always the back that looked a little off to me; my buddy has the same impression. He owns a Z06 but is always a little Porsche curious The conversations we have about the Cayman always included, "Its a great car, but I don't know, there is something weiby Alcantera - Main Forum

I have spent so may hours researching this problem, and for two years this check engine light has stayed on, my car idled rough, to high and and just never sounded smooth, I have replaced a perfectly good AOS, tried 5 different mass air flow sensors; had the car smoke tested, put on pwis and no luck. Reset the code and two days later, hello little yellow light. What really perplexed me is if youby Alcantera - Main Forum
I checked with Mike the really bad bearing had 60000km on it the other two 120000 and 140000. I m am as tired of this as everyone else is . It is time to put it to bed , may I suggest we know as much as we need to know and a standard reply to any enquires would be great, How about it Marc W or Guenter you two write excellent articles how about a standard reply that we can defer to.by Alcantera - Main Forum
I'm going in to see mike today ,I will ask if he knows about the mileage on the vehicles. I will also look at the third bearing again . One other observation was the black oil which poured from the second bearing did not smell good at all , mike had mentioned that the oil that came out of the ims tube smelled as well. He did not think the oil would ever drain from the bearing during winter storaby Alcantera - Main Forum
I make no conclusions nor do Do I wish to discuss this ad nauseum . I was at my local Indy ,and he had this stuff on the bench. I had my new torch with me so what the heck lets make a video. The guy in the video is my buddy mike , a local Indy. These four bearings are from cars that have passed through the shop. Mike recommends the bearing replacement if he is doing a RMS or clutch . The Porsche PET program makes/ a great source of info. One little trick I have found is when looking up a part, you get a small illustration on the left side and the text on the right one side of the page. There is an option to zoom the illustration and you can zoom ,and then drag and drop the minimized image on to the text.area All great tools agreed ; but still a little lacking.
