Today we travelled to dundas Ontario to see how the body work on my friends 356 was coming along. This was my first trip to "Bobbies place" Bob is a 75 year old retired body man . He owns a beautiful home ,which he built that overlooks Hamilton. The garage was really amazing the 356 was on top off a jig that Bob had made . His floor was built in the garage as flat as possible then the jigs arby Alcantera - Main Forum
Marc now that you have dissected two of the AOS maybe is time to invent the Mark upgrade AOS if that diapharm is weak maybe switch it out its probably worth about 99 cents,.by Alcantera - Main Forum
grant set the bearing up right on a piece of clean cardboard if my theory is correct we should see a an oil stain begin to form after a time. I'm am wondering if southern cars driven all year have this problem less often than a stored car . If the bearing grease is being replaced by engine oil then to me it makes sense that the oil will slowly run out over the 5 months of inactivity, since theby Alcantera - Main Forum
Interesting the people in the Alabama dont see ims problems and the local indys dont ever see it . Two companys offer an upgraded bearing , motor rebuild companys sell reman motors on ebay and my buddy who sells used parts gets a call a week from people looking for replacement 2.7 and 3.2 motors. We are also seeing 996 and 986 cars on salvage yard web sites that have suffered engine fires????by Alcantera - Main Forum
Do you drive your car year round or store it? could you remove the rubber seal and see if you have oil or grease inside? thanksby Alcantera - Main Forum
I would wonder if your ignition switch is starting to go . Almost all other systems are self checking and would throw a CEL . At 100k your kind of in the needs a new switch realm . cheap to do and your probably due.by Alcantera - Main Forum
. After my first week of boxster winter driving I'm thinking if you put them away till spring are missing a ton o fun. A great handling car is a great handling winter car . I had this thought this week, the guys at L&N tell us the grease in the intermediate bearing gets washed out by engine oil correct? then we park our cars for 5 months .what do you think that nice thin Mobile one does in tby Alcantera - Main Forum
The local indy (a friend ) did one that was weeks from doing a Chernobyl impersonation . Remember that old commercial "you can pay me now or you can pay me later"by Alcantera - Main Forum
The local petro can has a deal, 1 car wash per day for 90 days for 160$ its touch less and does a great job so I can spit that with the wife and the Boxster should stay fairly clean. Its a nice sunny day today I'm off to do some driftingby Alcantera - Main Forum

. Purchased a set of perelli snows on 17" rims and I'm going to drive my Boxster in the winter. We are both semi retired and the number of times we need two cars is rare, so i put my beloved old S70t5 on kijiji and sold it. I took some of the money and brought the snows. The boxster is really good as a winter car, the traction control and PSM will not let me do anything stupid (kind of like theby Alcantera - Main Forum
I was in my buddies shop today and we talked about doing the bearing and clutch. That sounds like a great price for all that work . I think if your cars out of warranty and has 50,000 miles or more, do the bearing, the CV boots ,and the clutch and the aos you should be good for the next 100000 miles. I'm sure if you were to try to sell a car that has a receipt for all that work its got to be a pby Alcantera - Main Forum
Steve it has lots of nice colored pictures, not playboy nice but nice . there is some weird stuff around page 217 some guy installing a ROO bar under the car. I'm sure you will rate it 12/10by Alcantera - Main Forum
Steve stay safe my friend, are there crocs around that area? i guess the cane toads are really pissed. Its on my bucket list to tour OZ. I was thinking me and Scarlet Johanson in a speed yellow gt 2 playing a little Robby Robinson and stopping to surf fish along the great barrier reef! So far the wife is OK with the fishing rod ,by Alcantera - Main Forum
Chapters called tonight my copy of Wayne Dempsey's book is in, just got home and after a brief looky look i would say its a must have. very well done!! and if you are reading this Wayne two thumbs upby Alcantera - Main Forum
My buddy built one years ago he put wild fish that are common to our area in the tank ie small mouth bass ,large mouth, pike, cat fish, crappies a walleye and a big craw fish . we would pour in some minnows and watch, the mayor of the tank? the craw fish!! the cat fish was the most aggressive. we were into tournament bass fishing and found this tank spell binding. The one thing that stuck with meby Alcantera - Main Forum
Its NBC but if you watch this video you will enjoy a good laugh at spice and beckhams expense > also you get to see sasha baron cohen before he became borat . Enjoyby Alcantera - Main Forum
I saw a C4s in Toronto this summer it was the same color as this, however that guy had wrapped the whole car. I guess if you got tired of it you could always have it unwrapped and the paint underneath should be perfect> My wife's friend spends a lot of time in London and she told me flat black sports cars are everywhereby Alcantera - Main Forum
I have been driving a friends cayenne turbo ,it has a set of blizzacs on it. I would say that has to be the ultimate winter vehicle with 3 inches of snow you can punch it and it still pulls really hard!by Alcantera - Main Forum
You are about to waste a lot of time. I cut open the top off a muffler ,gutted the inside, welded it together and the result....no difference at all!!!! the only option that works is to do the Pedro bypass, I did that with 1 1/2 stainless pipe which is about as big as you can go. its a little tricky but you have all winter. i read of a place that does this on an exchange basis you may try go oglby Alcantera - Main Forum
on my desktop page on my blackberry is.........yep your car , my Basalt black boxster will have to suffice for now, as the money tree seems to be suffering from some kind of wall street induced blight!by Alcantera - Main Forum
That video brought back a memorie from my past, in grade school I sat beside a guy who was a 426 hemi road runner!! between every class he would make all the sounds of a hemi !! he could do the sound exactly ,from the starter to the idle sound to the shifts. What became really strange was we could tell if he was a 4 speed with 4.11 gears or a automatic with 3.91 rear gears. Sometimes he would stoby Alcantera - Main Forum
I would have someone follow you to see if your still getting smoke during the shifts, its really hard to see whats happening while doing a red-line shift into third. you could clean the throttle body as there may still be some oil there from the replaced AOS. The next thing to do would be a compression test/leak down test. Have you missed a shift lately? how are your fluid levels?by Alcantera - Main Forum
I checked on my pet program and the variocam actuator part 99660590200 is common to all early boxsters. If so we have two from an early 2.5 . I can get you a price if you wish > I work for a independent Porsche parts supplier here in Canada. I recall a local shop doing an L&N bearing , a clutch and new tensioners slippers on a 3.2 and the bill was less than your quote. One upside to this rby Alcantera - Main Forum

Its not my 911e that I'm working on , Its kind of fun I just go over to Randy's and say I need a right front widow mechanism ,and he will pull 6 out of a bin and I get to choose the one I need .I spent Monday night watching TV and sorting through fender bolts looking for the correct ones. I was looking for a part the other day and found a 356 steering box that Randy had miss placed. Randy,s memorby Alcantera - Main Forum
In the last few months I have been helping out Randy Meyers at Whale tail Canada . We became golf buddies, then I built some doors around his home, and finally I took apart a 2003 c4. This car was used in a movie with Nicholas cage. The final scene has the car hitting a tree. The great part about this was the motor, transmission and differential were removed for the stunt. We have the complete motorby Alcantera - Main Forum
