I would NEVER buy a car from New Jersey. I live in Philly.... and have experience. Porsches in NJ are just banged up. Dings. They live a rough life. The folks in NJ are pretty darn rude, selfish, and aggressive. They bang doors in parking lots.... it is Lord of the Flies. I helped a buddy look, any car in NJ was not pristine. I am being serious here. Avoid cars in NJ. Now I am really goby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Atlanta dealer replaced my 2000 S engine in less than 10 hours.... so they said. I think it was way less actually. The new engine was a crated unit. All the "stuff" was on the new engine including the A/C compressor. Peace Bruce in Phillyby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
QuoteSpanky Bruce, I like it. Permission to reuse your "never in fashion, but always in style" tagline? Sure, but I will have talk to my mom. I will speak for her so go ahead. The perspective about style vs fashion has been around for ever.... It is one of those perspectives that need to be communicated to young people. What do you think of those prom dresses and tux pics in the '70s...???by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I don't intend to insult someones sense of aesthetics..... your taste is your taste..... nothing wrong with that. But.... living in and near a big American city like Philly, I see where some of the trends in fashion come from..... I saw the young folks in the city with super chrome wheels before anyone else.... a few years later, Porsche is offering them as an option. Then I saw the big spoolsby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I guess I am getting too old to be smitten by fads. I don't find the rubber band over a spool to be good looking... I totally don't get it. I have 19" on my 2009 C2S and when these Michelins wear down, I am tossing these rims and moving to 18"s. I think the ride on these larger wheels is just dumb. They are hard but not "performance hard". I can't describe it but they are just "bad hard".by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Yea, all consumer product companies should do this type of research. But I suspect that if they lean to heavily on it, sports cars would become bigger, longer wheelbase, softer, quieter, comfy cruisers, faster....... um ... ah..... oh oh. I believe it is totally repairable. When a car is that expensive, you can do a lot of repair work before the costs exceed the value. Bigger question is his coverage. Back when, Nationwide would cover you on the track as long as "it was driver ed, no competition, and not a timed event" or something like that. Yeah, driving around town, cruising on the highway, we use a small fraction. But even in aggressive driving....... Sure, we all want more HP... but I never, never thought I would say this, but the 385 in 2009 C2S is enough. It really is. I have removed the door panels on both of my Porsches and just recently, replaced all of the speakers in my 2009 C2S. The speaker grills are part of a larger panel molding, are either heat or sonically welded to the other plastic bits. On my dash, however, they can easily be removed... just be very careful and pry them straight up with a plastic trim remover. My rear speaker grills can be remby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
The Porsche computer can see deeply way beyond a simple code reader. They will most likely nail it fast. Don't waste your time. Really, just pay up. Peace Bruce in Phillyby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
You know, I think this is the new Boxster. £32,000 = $55,000 Do you really think they will have two cars that look almost identical, both convertibles, and both the same price????? Peace Bruce in Phillyby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I think the DFI technology opens a whole new set of doors. I don't like the way four cylinder engines feel, but...... if they can produce smoothness, both in power delivery and vibration, while delivering more torque and responsiveness in a lighter car with more fuel efficiency, well why not? It is just emotions..... I had a hard time giving up the V8. But then again, enjoying a car is by defby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

Here are my condensers at around 175K (??) miles. They look darn mashed up to me but were still very functional and this was their first cleaning. Peace Bruce in Phillyby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
What is the big deal? It is only a big deal if it is leaking. Otherwise, drive on. Guys who put tons of miles on cars, like Marc and Me, tend to not get upset by this stuff at all (at least I don't blink). If it is leaking, then replace it.... I would use Pelican Parts where you can get an OEM part, no Porsche label for around $200. I do this all the time, they are the same parts in my experby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
My insurance was just cancelled and mid August, I go into assigned risk. You don't want that. I let two stupid tickets go figuring I hadn't had a ticket in a ton of years so my future was bright... so I thought. Then an claim that was my fault. I am screwed. A lawyer costs about 500 and you don't go to court, just wait, they deal with it, you pay a no points fine. Sign "innocent" and send iby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
If the car was already manly or at least hinted at having dangling brass ones, putting this on would be a disappointment. But the car sounds like a Buick. Therefore, the addition is worth it to me. Now is sounds "more Porsche like". It sounds more aggressive outside the car or with the windows down. The cabin is just so well dampened that .... well let's face it: Porsche is making an old farby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

Mike and IMS thread got me thinkin I need a new post....... Your opinions? I am an odd one in that I expect my expensive, well engineered, supposedly really good car to last forever. Seriously I do. So while I have not been as extreme as Mike, I maintain the heck out of my cars. I don't let a rattle, fart or whatever go and I make sure the work done is pro. I have had 2, and earlier model and a recent one. Both broke.... would rotate in my ear, the buttons were hard to press, and they were uncomfortable. I hated them. Fortunately, my last Jawbone broke under warranty.... constantly would drop pairing or would show paired but not work. The charger would always plug in at a weird angle so I found them hard to insert the usb plug while driving....lby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

OK, bonus question: What percent of techs actually use a torque wrench on body and suspension parts? Talk amongst yourselves. Peace Bruce in Phillyby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Someone posted some values on another forum, but I want to make sure... you never know. One the one side, 118 ft lbs, the other is 56 ft lbs. 118 seems so darn high and 56 low. I just can't for the life of me find any service manuals out there for these newer cars. Bentley does not have one yet. Very frustrating..... Pedro, You seem to have the answers.... I need torque values for each side of this part: 997 331 043 01 Where are you getting this data? Thanx so much for your help. Peace Bruce in Phillyby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Thanx for the post Guenter. That car was fun!! I am so glad Grant gave it another life. Best car I ever owned. Grant, are you enjoying the stereo? The darned 2009 C2S Bose system is integrated into the car systems and I can't replace it.... at least easily. Keep having fun! Why was the IMS class action lawsuit only for IMS? Why didn't they view the engine as a single system but singled out only one component? There are multi failure modes for this engine design, and by looking at the engine as a single unitized system, the failure percentages would be higher. This of course should therefore, help their case. I don't want to dredge up a flame war again, but IMS isby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
