Yes - I am unashamedly a plagiarist! But CURVN8R was the first 981!by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
As always, Karl, Ron, Nell and Mary did a magnificent job! And of course, Pedro was the man! What a blast! Already counting the days until next year. Special thanks to Teresa Covington for the beautiful "Boxster Quilt" Dianne was lucky enough to win. It already has a place of honor in our NC mountain house! If you have never been, you owe it to yourself to come next year. mike and Dianneby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
The visit to Dale's facility was a joy! I spent a lot of time with another fellow there (he had a white beard) who had a load of interesting stories. He was even a "car guy" as well and owned a vintage Morgan.by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
In the 20 inch size, the only tires available are Goodyear F1(n rated), Michelin PSS, Bridgestone Potenza (N rated), and Pirelli P Zero (N rated) - in order from cheapest to most expensive. Only the Michelins are not N-ratd.by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
The car came with P-Zeros. I have about 15,000 miles on them. The fronts are still OK but the rears are gong to need replacement in the not too distant future.by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
I will be buying new tires in near future - after BRBS, I have narrowed it down to the OEM N-rated P-Zero from Pirelli or the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. The Michelin tires are highly rated on Tire rack but the Pirellis are N-rated. Any thoughts on this?by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
I'm ready to take a new picture of the CURVN8R twins!by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
Well, I had the windshield replaced at the Porsche dealer today. Initially, the dealer quoted about $1075 and State Farm would allow $1050. The dealer matched the State Farm estimate and gave me a discount on an oil change so that I was not even out the $50 deductible. And I can't tell any difference from the original windshield. Very happy with Hennessy Porsche! While not cheap, I have alwaby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
Since I cannot find any evidence of an impact, I am going to try to get the dealer to cover it under warranty. Not sure how successful I will be.by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
No - no one borrowed the car and there was nothing around the car. I can't see any chips but I suppose there could have been a minuscule chip somewhere that spread into a crack due to temperature changes while I was gone. I can't think of anything else - unless there was an unseen flaw in the glass. I'm pretty sure the dealer subs out the job - the service guy said the windshield guy normallyby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
It definitely was not cracked when I bought it new almost two years ago. Don't recall any really bad bumps either.by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
I have been away from home for several weeks. My 981 has rested in my garage during that time. With much excitement, I went our this morning for a drive. Sat behind the wheel and I see a 10 inch crack running across the windshield. I know it wasn't there when I parked it. There is no evidence of any impact on the windshield - just the crack. Any ideas how this could happen? Anyway, I have anby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
I wish I still had my 914-6! Sold it for tuition many years ago. Funny how it is now well-regarded, but was disdained by "Porsche People" back then.by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
I tried it. In normal mode, it idles at about 650. In Sport or Sport Plus, it idles at 800. Does your idle at 950?by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
City cycle Trip length: 11 miles Test time: 31 minutes Number of stops: 23 Time spent idling: approx. 18% Maximum speed: 56 MPH Average speed: 20 MPH With 18% spent idling,it appears that cutting off the engine probably could have a significant impact on the final number.by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
I don't mind it - but I rarely ever use it since it is locked out when the car is set to "sport" - which is the first button I push after starting the car.by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
Quotemikefocke, '01S Sanford, NC ...They show how even dealer owned low mileage 918s are still a lot more than the $3.6k I paid for my first new Porsche and it had every option orderable. Amazing how few are out there for sale in the 2014 model year of either rag or hard top even expanding the search area to the entire US. I have two Rolexes (a President and a Datejust) - both inherited from my dad - and both close to 50 years old. Repairs are outrageously expensive and both are in the shop right now. Frankly, I look at them as jewelry rather than time pieces. My cheap Wenger keeps time as well (I wear it whenever I am out of the country and don't want to encourage a mugging). Its true that the automatic movemeby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
Really sorry I missed it. We were in South Africa in 90 degree weather when I say the CNN reports about the storm in Atlanta. Glad to hear that MER survived it. My next door neighbor in Atlanta told me he ended up leaving his car on the expressway and spending the night at a fire station. Doesn't happen often in Atlanta but when it does - WOW! I was here for the blizzard of 93 when we had arby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
While it is true there is much better lane discipline in Germany, you still have to be very careful. With all of the heavy truck traffic often encountered, it is not unusual for smaller cars to pass without realizing that the car in the rear view mirror is coming a lot faster than they think. I had a Fiat 500 doing about 70 pull in front of me when I was running around 150. Luckily, Porsches aby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum

Happy to do it! Here is the CURVN8R on the Dragon at BRBS this year with a few friends: And here at Road Atlanta for the parade lap for the Petit Lemans. That's Dianne holding onto her cap!by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
At 10,000 miles, I had my second oil change performed by the dealer. For about 1,000 miles everything was normal. Then I got an overfill warning after a "vigorous" drive. I called the service tech and he said the gauge is extremely sensitive and it was not unusual on the 981 and not to worry about it. I had no smoking or other signs of an overfill. After about a week the warning light went aby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
QuoteJoanne in OC Such fun...... I lived in Europe for 4 years, had a BMW while I was there. I remember the autobahn's with fond memories. Italy was another story and didn't drive there. I remember those tiny streets and the heavy traffic, not many nice cars. I remember being on the bus and a group of guys in a small car gave up on traffic, they got out of their car, lifted it up and turnedby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
QuoteJoanne in OC I'm sure glad I met Guenter at BRBS ..... You guys really "pick" on him. With all the comments I would have thought Guenter was a stodgy ole' man with no sense of humor and snooty and mean. But, I know otherwise Joanne Whcih one of those is not true?by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
