The link lets you click on multiple sizes. The H7's are now sold out (apparently) and no longer shown. *IF* the H7s reappear, should I spend the money, or assume that the heat will yellow my lenses (of a 2000!) or otherwise mess with my car? Is there an upgraded bulb which would provide superior (to the Sylvania's I'm using) light and visibility without causing damage? Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Amazon has these on sale for $24.95 with a coupon. Oh Boxster gurus, will this work in my 2000 non-S? Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Sears makes or made a stubby screwdriver that is perfectly sized. I still have mine if someone needs it. Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I have a 2000 Boxster (base). I started it after having it sit for 4 days in an airport lot. It didn't initially want to turn over, but it did and the drive home was uneventful. Thanks for the help. Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I cracked my passenger side mirror while backing the car out of the garage. It's a 2000 non-S. The electronics still work, but the bottom plastic piece of the housing popped off as the unit rotated all the way forward ("what's that noise? I slowly thought to myself"). The plastic piece will likely snap back in place. From reading on the 'net, it seems as though this can be replaced by pullingby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Thanks so much for the response. You are running back to the fuse panel? Other solutions have suggested splicing onto the existing 12V socket? Am I pulling too much power if I splice? I don't mind 'always on'. I just pull the connector when I park or leave it in if the phone needs to charge while I run in to the store. Just to be clear, I'm not looking to light a cigarette - just to power Gby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Pedro, Thanks for the response. I'm not seeing anything on either Radio Shack nor Amazon that seems to fit "12 volt DV outlet". Can you point me to a link so that I know what we're talking about? I was of the impression that the cig lighter is a 12V outlet. I don't want to light anything, just power stuff. Thanks for the help. Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Taking it really slow, 'cause I'm really slow ... 1. Buy new cig lighter 'kit' or whatever Suncoast sells 2. Pry plastic off both sides of the dash 3. Splice the black to black and red to red 4. Replace plastic on both sides Given that the AC/stereo sit between the two locations, how do I get the wires across? Does the blank (wiper on left) just 'pop out'? Anything the viciously stupid neeby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
How/where does one gain access to the red and black wires? I can't pull my dash off Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
My 2000 Boxster has a second blank (it looks like) on the left of the center dash for a second cigarette lighter/power plug. I'd like a second one - it doesn't need to be always on like the first on the right side. My mechanic is willing to do the work, but I'd like to limit my cost - is this circle blank actually for a second power adapter? Is there a 'follow the recipe' guide for adding a secby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Dennis, My 2000 Boxster came with 3 keys (one valet which is lost forever). Both of the 'real keys' are finally dead. I bought two of the electronic stubs from Suncoast (apparently you can also use a 911 version per some info out there if you want an 'upgrade', but don't take my word for it). They will also sell you the key blank which has to be cut. Rob at Provost Motorsports was doing my bby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
My 2000 Arctic Silver Boxster needs a little bit of rehab. I was clipped by a hit and run tow truck and my wife dropped a ladder on the hood. My oddments tray also needs a new hinge. I had agreed upon a price with my normal body shop. Having been hosed by 4 contractors in the last month I asked that they send me a fax/email with the work and the agreed upon price - I promptly got fired by myby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
And if you aren't installing them yourself, you can have the tires drop shipped to NTB (or another list of preferred installers on the TireRack site) and get them installed for a much lower price than the installer would otherwise charge. Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Bruce, Somehow, my wife failed to pay the premium on our PUP (umbrella); the new PUP is actually less, but is linked in price to our auto (and other claims) insurance, and could dramatically increase should my claims go up. While not directly related, I feel your pain. I'm in NJ, and AllState has always been good to/for us. They are our sole insurer; we could probably shop it and save, but itby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I found some directions - But my blue plug doesn't look like what is in the picture. My plug has top and bottom row of three and middle row of two holes. Gah! Any experts out there? Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
So now, from finding some pictures, it appears that I get to use the 2 RCA jacks and mate them with a reverse splitter. Can someone point me to directions on the blue connector and where things get wired and wired into the head unit? Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I have a base 2000 with the single CD head unit. A long time ago I purchased a Becker part on dropped it in a drawer. The part supposedly gives me stereo input to the AUX connector. The part has a tag: 1319.116-276 - which appears to be the right item. I have 2 'sets' of wires 1) a single RCA end with two wires at the end (black and red) and; 2) a dual RCA (Red and white ends) end with threeby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I have the Willwood rack - love it on my 2000. The top can go up and down and the noise is well behind the driver. It does act as a speed brake, however, since the bikes are perpendicular to the car. Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Has anyone done either a plastic only replacement or full glass replacement top in the NJ/Philly area? I have a 2000 Boxster and the plastic window is showing its age Thanks all. Andrew.by AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Can someone in the Central NJ/Philadelphia area suggest an shop to replace the rear plastic in my 2000 Boxster? I have 'suggested installers' for a replacement top with glass, but I want to look at some comparisons. I know people have had this done, but I can't find the links that were local to me. Along the same lines, can someone suggest a reputable, but non wallet gouging, installer for a nby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I took the car to Provost Motorsport in NJ. They drained the fluid and replaced the coolant - gee, I get the pink stuff this time. I had them change the oil since the car was there. So, for $450 or so I got some peace of mind and my car got to exchange some bodily fluids. The Chinese restaurant across the street wasn't too bad for lunch, either. Thanks for everyone's input and assistance. Aby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
the 'InNYC' is a holdover from my previous, pre-child, life. We live in the Princeton, NJ area now. Before marriage and kids I was on the Upper East Side in Manhattan and then in Brooklyn Heights. Very little about NYC living that I miss other than the great restaurants. In Brooklyn Heights I was paying $460/month just for the Boxster to be garaged - and they still managed to dent it, kill aby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I found an Indy mechanic that my body shop suggested - about 30 minutes from here. They can do the job for roughly coolant cost + $125. They appeared to know what they were talking about over the phone (plus the body shop suggestion), so now I just need to find time to get the car over there. Fortunately I have another car to drive in the interim; unfortunately it isn't also a Boxster. I do hby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Well, my coolant levels were normal, and I filled up the resevoir to where I can see the fluid while looking in - of course the wiper resevoir is still empty. I hate taking my car to the local dealer - is this something that the guys at NTB can fix for me? I'll call them on Monday, but I'm unsure of the technical difficulty of doing the dump and fill since it is a Boxster - the guys at Pep Boysby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I have a 2000 2.7 Boxster. Thinking I was following the online Boxster pdf manual I just put washer fluid in the blue capped back trunk resevoir labeled 'water'. Now, having pushed the windshield wiper buttons and hearing the (still empty) motor from the front, I'm thinking that I made a (huge) mistake. The picture in the manual now seems to look more like the front trunk and front blue cappedby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I have a parking 'bump' in my garage to let me know how far to pull forward. There have been times when the wheel is locked on me as well. As silly as it sounds, rather than cranking on the wheel I have found that by shifting my weight around and rocking the car back and forth the wheel frees itself. If everything else is working, perhaps this may help. Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Tires are actually Kuhmo Exsta Supra (and they say 712 on the side as well). This tire isn't available on the Tire Rack nor NTB site (it isn't made any more) The closest match, per Tire Rack, is the SPT KU31 which I can't even find on their webstie. The next best match, again per Tire Rack, is the Kumho Ecsta 4X (Ultra High Performance All-Season). Since I can't have what I already have, whicby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I have a 2000 2.7 with 50K miles and its second set of tires; due to age, it's likely time for the third set. The current tires are Kuhmo Ecsta Sport (I think Sport, but the first part is right). Tires are stock sizes. I usually let NTB install my tires, but I bought the Kuhmo's from Tire Rack and dropped shipped them to NTB last time since they couldn't get them in stock quickly enough. QuotePedro (Weston, FL) ... on halogens just install the 55W H7 bulb which is the OEM. Going to a higher wattage will certainly harm your headlights from the inside out. Your other alternative is to upgrade to xenon bulbs which produce much brighter, white light at cooler temperatures therefore protecting the headlight. Happy Boxstering, Pedro Are. There used to be lots of talk about the E-Dot and others. Lens covers also turned brown . Without a brown lens cover, are there good or better choices than the OEM bulb? Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
