OK, perhaps I misstated facts. I have the basic, regular lights. These are not litronics - they are halogen (I believe). So let's restart the conversation based on my needing H7 bulbs. Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Yes I have litronics. I was under the impression that there were certain higher lumen lights which wouldn't discolor the plastic assembly on the market. Thanks for the OEM pricing. Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I've just noticed that one of my front headlights appears really dim. The other bulb was replaced after my deer accident. I have a 2000 Base (not S). Two questions: 1. I'm probably going to replace both bulbs so that they at least match in brightness. I'd like the brightest bulbs possible - but I remember that some older, bright bulbs used to melt/burn the lamp covers. What bulbs should Iby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Rainy, Do you have a picture or part number - Radio Shack's webiste has nothing for inline/radio filters and my local RS guys understand how to sell cellphones. This is just a small RCA in/RCA out (male one end and female other end) component, right? As a rant, RS used to have all sorts of oddball components that, when you needed one, you needed it badly. Now, anything more offbeat than a pusby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Pedro, I don't know what I'm looking for or at. What/which 12V adapter are you referring to. My multi door garage door opener is a 3V Chamberlain model - it's the only one which will open my otherwise non-compatible garage doors. Radio Shack has the parts for me to convert the 12V to 3V so that I can wire in connectors to the replace the remote battery and hook up athe opener to a set of dashby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Anyone have a picture of the RCA jacks coming out of their head unit? Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I'm looking at making some changes to my '00 Boxster and don't know if they are possible. The car has a circular blank opposite the standard cig lighter adapter (ie its mirror on the dash). Can a second adapter be installed here without issue/trouble? Any idea of the cost? I'm looking at wiring my garage remote into the 12V system. Along with the second lighter adapter (cell phone charger anby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I really don't care where the remote actually goes - I just remember the version I saw having the remote in a ziplock bag in the bumper. I'm likely going to have my body shop guy do the work (if I use a soldering iron my wife proactively calls 911). If I give him clear directions, he can do it quickly. Al, two questions on yours: 1) how hard would it be to swap out the remote - ie I move or seby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Yes, I found this one, but it doesn't a) put the remote in the front fender b) use a dash switch (I have heated seats, so my console is fully used c) isn't wired in through the electrical system. I'm looking for an a-c solution. Thanks, though. Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Can someone please post a universally accessible link for me - I can't find it (and neither can my google skills). There was (once upon a time) a link on wiring a garage remote into the car's electrical, using a new switch on the dash and hiding/locating the remote (inside a ziplock bag) inside the front bumper. I have links which purport to go to garage door opener hacks, but the links are deaby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I have a 2000 Boxster (base, not S). It was recently repaired following a chance encounter with a deer - the Boxster made a contribution, the deer made a commitment. After the repair, the doors no longer lock a 5 MPH as they did. Is this a setting which can be user-set via ignition key turns or the like, or do I need to take it back to the dealer? Secondly, I purchased a set of radio keys andby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Thanks - nice to know I'm just losing my mind as opposed to a problem with the car.by AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I hit a deer at the beginning of the summer (or, given the angles, the deer hit me). The auto shop and dealer were having difficulties with the alarm system which was traced to a passenger door actuator (?) which indicates whether the door is open/closed/locked, whatever. This weekend the car gave me the same issues - I would lock it with the key and it would lock, unlock and double beep - so bby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Silly, commoners - it's a portable parking garage; I would never park my Boxster out in the elements!by AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Car is/was to be delivered back to me today. Auto shop called (at time the flatbed was supposed to arrive) stating that the turn signal seems to intermittently not work. They had to do a new headlight assembly on the left side - perhaps the wire harness they used is faulty (or something). It's that or they didn't get everything finished or detailed. Since I'm working, it doesn't matter when tby AndyInNYC - Main Forum

Bruce, Your waxing job is blinding! Any interest in practicing on my car?by AndyInNYC - Main Forum
$12K may be the right number - that's what edmonds priced it to as a dealer purchase ($14 for private sale). That number still seems (seemed) really low to me - all the more reason to want my car back rather than take $8K and find a new one (good luck). I was surprised that the airbag didn't deploy in the accident (it was a front end, but not dead center). That would have added considerably toby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I have Will's (Willwood) rack and cargo tray. I've never used the tray, but pre-kids we used the rack every weekend for our two bikes. Worth noting is that the Willwood rack requires some drilling behind the bumperettes to mount the receivers for the hitch - this isn't the 'clip on' kind that you'd find for $50 for a Nissan. Installation is straightforward and stealthy when the bikes aren't loby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
A deer committed suicide via Boxster to ruin my night last week. The car is at the body shop which repaired it last time (rear ended at a light). The car's frame wasn't bent, but the front end driver's side is mangled - new headlight, bumper cover, etc. According to the shop's computer/the insurance company's calculation my 2000 Boxster with 50K miles is only worth +/- $8K. Can that really beby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
My Boxster has now been to D&A Autobody in Levittown, PA twice. It's there now after a Boxster v deer interaction. They've been fast, good work and pleasant to deal with. The local Porsche dealer (which is now Don Rosen) uses them. BTW - I have a 2000 Boxster and this will be either my second or third bumper. Just called my local Pep Boys - they are getting a 48-690B from one of their other stores $99.99 +$15 install. Of course now I need to have AAA come by and jump start the car to get me there. Will Pep Boys put a trickle charger in the cig lighter so that I don't lose radio codes and window programming (yeah, the windows are no big deal)? I've only used them for wax and cleaner and stuff. Thanby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I called Walmart and requested a MAXX H-6 which is supposedly the correct battery; They told me I had to go with a 94R which is $105 plus. I don't really care about the $20, I care that I'm getting different opinions. Did you get the MAXX H-6?by AndyInNYC - Main Forum
I need to replace the battery in my 2000 Boxster. The car is virtually stock (read 'no big aftermarket amps, etc.') and lives in the reasonably mild central NJ area. I'm going to have the place I buy it install it, but will NOT take it to the local dealer. I know that the stock battery has venting, and some of the replacement batteries are vented also. What is my 'best' choice for a drop-in rby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Bruce, Who's your guy in Philly and where is he located. I'm near enough that if he's good enough I'll bring my car to him. Andrewby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
Just got pulled over doing 53 in what turns out to be a 30 (it's 40/45 before and after a curve) in NJ - clearly the officer knew exactly where to camp out. $200 ticket. In NJ I can get it knocked down (once) for unsafe operation and no points. Of course that option is more expensive than simply paying the $200. So basically, NJ recognizes speeding tickets as a revenue generation device and isby AndyInNYC - Main Forum
