Hello folks - has anyone in the Houston area used a place called 'Safetow' for flat bed towing?by bb1 - Main Forum
Hi - From the first picture you can see a shade of green in the liquid. Coolant temp was not anything glaringly off. But it wasn't that hot out, and I think something failed pretty quick as when driving the car earlier in the day it didn't leak.by bb1 - Main Forum
Hello folks - I have a 2000 Boxster w/ about 70k on it. Today when driving earlier in the day I thought I had heard a new (and not a good sounding "new") noise never heard before - something like a bit of a clang sound - nothing horribly bad, but it didn't sound normal either. When getting home, after shutting off the car and getting out, I noticed the following: 1) some smoke (or vapor at leasby bb1 - Main Forum
Hi Folks - anyone w/ a Bentley manual can check if this is covered by the book? Thanksby bb1 - Main Forum
Hi Folks. Have a 1st gen Boxster and have noticed recently that it's been getting a bit harder to turn the headlight switch on/off. Just not feeling the same (almost feels like it will break if you turn it). They still work but I am worried the light switch is about to go out. (the "ignition switch" on the car has recently been replaced so there should be no problem there). Just wonderingby bb1 - Main Forum
Hi folks - finally located a rattle I've been hearing for ages. Now that I know where it's coming from I was hoping I could fix it. With the car off, just sitting in the passenger seat if you touch on the dashboard on the airbag door or anywhere around it, the rattle noise happens. So just vibrations/bends coming into the cabin are setting this off. I was going to wedge something in to try anby bb1 - Main Forum
Hi Folks - Hoping there is someone here who's able to help give some guidance/instructions on how to replace the windshield washer fluid pump on an 2000 Boxster. I've looked online and in a 101 Projects for Your Boxster book but no real luck. Thanksby bb1 - Main Forum
Hello Folks. Have gotten good help here before so wanted to post again. I have an older Boxster with the plastic rear window. It is so hazy, I can barely see through it. Once many years ago I found something to clean it (so know it can be done) but have lost track. What do you recommend to easily (and safely) clean it? Thanks!by bb1 - Main Forum
Hey folks - how about wheel chocks. What do you recommend for that for the front wheels? So many different ones online so looking for some recommendations.by bb1 - Main Forum
Hey Grant - there's no concern I have w/ storing the ramps or anything like that. Just trying to figure out the SAFEST approach. Since I'm a little uneasy about working under the car for the first time. What pictures are you referring to in your last post?by bb1 - Main Forum
Thanks folks. When you DO go w/ the jack stand approach, does that mean 2 jack stands (right in front of the rear wheels)? Or 4 stands total (2 more in the front)?by bb1 - Main Forum
Hey guys - thinking about doing this myself for the first time. What method do you recommend (and why)? Safety is my top concern. By ramps I'm referring to something like the Rhino ramps. Thanksby bb1 - Main Forum
I agree reading close is important. This kit though, if you click the 'more info' then the 'notes' tab - or just go there you can see it mentions the control arms and the control arm links in the kitby bb1 - Main Forum
Hi folks - I posted about a problem w/ my 2000 Boxster few wks back After taking it to a dealer they diagnosed the problem as being to do w/ worn: -front lower control arms -rear track rods And wanted approx $5k (total for parts/labor) to fix it which seemed stratospheric to me. Probably if I took my car to Carmax that's what they'd offer me for the whole car Anyway, was looking around andby bb1 - Main Forum
Hi folks - I have always had good luck posting here so wanted to try again. Have a 2000 Boxster w/ 75k on it. Rarely driven and for last 2-3 years have noticed a problem which I THINK is in the steering system somewhere. There is some noticeable vibration or shimmying that can be felt THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL only. Nothing huge/dramatic...but noticeable. It is NOT speed dependent and doesby bb1 - Main Forum
Hi Pedro - the PARK light is indeed NOT coming on when I pull up the parking brake. Tried the pulling it up hard and slamming down hard several times suggestion but that didn't change anything. Can you clarify bit on this point "remove the small panel just behind the driver's side seatbelt buckle receptacle on the center console" --- are you talking about something inside/under the center consoby bb1 - Main Forum
hello again and thank you for the replies so far. the windows DO drop a few inches (just as normal) when releasing the overhead latch mechanism. and i DO have (as usual the parking brake applied and the ignition on and clutch in, etc) before trying to press the top down button on the dash. however there is no sound, nothing at all happening when I do. there is no chance of water damage here.by bb1 - Main Forum
Howdy folks - has anyone had the same issue and figured out what was wrong (and how much to fix)? Today I tried to open the convertible top (same way I always have done) and when hitting the button on the dash there was NOTHING - no sound (from top motor, etc) and no movement of the top. Last time I used the top I didn't notice anything unusual. I checked the fuses best I could tell might haveby bb1 - Main Forum
Hey Guys - I have a 2000 Boxster w/ 70k miles. I rarely drive it but for last yr or so have noticed something "unsettling" that is related to (must be IMO) the steering "system". Just when backing out of my driveway (coasting back - so car in neutral), or coasting fwd too in a parking lot....................I can feel a (for lack of a better word) slight vibration "feel" in the steering wheel (by bb1 - Main Forum
Thanks - i'll try that approachby bb1 - Main Forum
Hi there - would any one be so kind as to offer some suggestions on what I expect is a common (minor) problem. The car is about 10 yrs old and lately when the air conditioner/vents are on, it is throwing out a bit of fuzz....on closer inspection, i can see behind the air nozzle/diverter/thingies...some gray fuzz/styrafoam material....and it looks to just have fallen apart due to heat/age. So itby bb1 - Main Forum
