Quotecarlos in Montreal I would check the the movable curtain over the engine (from the window to the back of the car). It's attached with a long plastic bar, I this bar is not proplerly attach to the back of the car the water will not drain to the drain and you will get water in the cabin. Good point, Carlos. That curtain helps direct water in the rear to the side drain holes in the drip trayby grc0456 - Main Forum
Hi Ace, While some people call the IMSB issues the Achilles heal of the 1997-2008 Boxster, a potential high ankle sprain for the car is the wet immobilizer. There is much information out on the inter-web about this (try the 986forum), and I am not an expert in this. But the usual culprit is clogged drains. There are some in the drip trays under where the top stows, and some in the front underby grc0456 - Main Forum
Posting this up on the main forum. It's also in the Events forum:by grc0456 - Main Forum
Of all people, you need to be there, Pedro! Hope you can make it work. Happy Holidays (and Boxstering) to you and yours!by grc0456 - Events
That's fun to watch. Sounds great, too. Thanks for sharing. I've never been on a track, but hope to do a DE in 2017.by grc0456 - Main Forum
...and I forgot to add the theme of this year's reunion is the 20th anniversary of the Boxster.by grc0456 - Events
Hope to see some PB members (and maybe PPB himself?) at the first Werks Reunion to be held on the east coast at Amelia Island on March 10, 2017. See below for details: Gary PS: The day I posted this it was 1F this morning in Boston. Looking forward to being in northern FL in the Spring!by grc0456 - Events
QuoteGuenter in Ontario Magnus won't likely ever buy a Porsche at a dealer. He likes the older Porsches and customizes them himself. He actually buys the cars to use as Porsche intended. No texting, nav, Burmeister, PDK, connectivity. The adrenaline rush comes from the pure experience of driving, shifting, steering and maintaining control while conducting the Symphony in Flat Six doing what it wby grc0456 - Main Forum
QuoteGuenter in Ontario QuoteJackintheBoxster ...... Really, sound? That's the problem?........ You got it. At least in my view, it's part of the problem. After I'd heard a number of 718 Boxsters on YouTube, I had posted here, that there just didn't seem to be any sense of urgency in the sound of the new 718 Boxster. It just didn't sound exciting. At least for me, a sports cars should feel excby grc0456 - Main Forum
QuoteGuenter in Ontario Quotedb997S I've gotten that message every year of ownership. I assume the shop sets it up. I find it annoying having to clear it. Besides, ever since I purchased my first vehicle, I've paid attention to service and oil change intervals. I tend to hold onto cars for long stretches. You want them to last and be safe, you take care of them. Unfortunately, those of us wby grc0456 - Main Forum
Agree! I guess what I was trying to express was that those living in colder climes have great passion even though most have a limited driving season. Actually, it's probably because of this!by grc0456 - Main Forum
Yes, be safe my friend! My step-daughter is in Miami, so our thoughts are definitely with you guys. And now they are saying Matt may pivot and loop back. Not good.by grc0456 - Main Forum
Nice shots, Guenter. I am always impressed by the passion for Porsche that our cousins north of the border have.by grc0456 - Main Forum
Great pics! Even with this small sample size, it is easy to see why we all love these cars.by grc0456 - Main Forum
Those who know me, know that I am going to post a picture of my car.........because I love it! This is not the greatest picture because of the lighting (sun not behind my back), and I just used my iPad to shoot, but it is in the spirit of the fall season. Love your wheels, Boxstaboy. And G, your car always looks great.by grc0456 - Main Forum
Sorry to hear that, Jeff. Glad you were OK. Don't a lot of folks down in PA mount those silent deer whistle things on their cars?by grc0456 - Main Forum
QuoteGuenter in Ontario Looks like it was quite a day with a pretty big turnout and lots of eye candy. Did you have a chance to hear the Carrera GT get fired up? Thanks for sharing, Gary. I did, Guenter! We both pulled into the lot at the same time, so I followed him getting checked in. He did give it a little bit of a rev, so I heard the V-10. I'd say it has the most popular car at the shoby grc0456 - Main Forum
I went to Porsche Day this past Sunday morning at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, MA, and enjoyed viewing and talking with the owners of a nice variety of P-cars out on the (drought stricken) lawn. Here are a just few shots of the non-Boxster variety to share:by grc0456 - Main Forum
I loved your story, too, Bob. I may someday in the future trade up to a 981 to get the modern conveniences and HP/torque boost, as well as the sharper styling. A BGTS is my dream car. Wonder what one will go for in about 5-7 years? But since my 986 is still sort of new to me, and my first P-car, I am in love. Could it use a little more power? Yes (maybe Santa will bring me a TechnoPower2 kitby grc0456 - Main Forum
Holy caveat emptor, Batman - and Pedro! I sincerely hope this owner is not a member of this or the 986forum. I could not live with myself if I ever tried to pass a car off as being so "perfect" with this kind of problem. Thank goodness the potential buyer went to you for the PPI.by grc0456 - Main Forum
Oh, I don't know about the one in Tiverton. I wish I could find a C&C on the North Shore, although the the SoBo is very nicely organized. Good turnout today - about 30-40 cars.by grc0456 - Main Forum
Happy to help! We're all in this together Hey, I see you're in or near Dedham - Hi neighbor! Stoneham here. Do you ever go to the Taunton or SoBo Cars and Coffees? There's a SoBo tomorrow and I think I'll head down for a nice ride.by grc0456 - Main Forum
When I purchased my Box from Pedro, standing in his garage, not knowing how to properly work the trunk release button, I pushed it straight down (rather than horizontally) and right through the housing - to my utter and complete embarrassment. Pedro, being the jack of all trades, and super nice guy that he is, simply unbolted the two rear mounting bolts of the seat, and tilted it forward. Thisby grc0456 - Main Forum
While I'm sure the new 718's are fine cars and super quick, I too NEED the sound of a NA flat 6. It's addicting, and once you get a taste you want more. I actually like hearing more intake than exhaust sound in my old 986 when I step on it in pretty much any gear. Feed me, feed me it says. And this is in 225hp/192 ft lb car, so it's not fast. Although, having followed G-Man's car with PSE atby grc0456 - Main Forum
Many, many pics of BRBS18 up on the site ...........for those that have an hour or two to kill.by grc0456 - Main Forum
Looks like some Canadian guys took most of them......hmmmmby grc0456 - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
Holy moly! I will not complain about wearing my new SA2015 helmet on a likely hot day at AX in a few weeks, but I think someone needs to take the keys away from Bob. Thanks for the safety tip, Pedro!by grc0456 - Main Forum
Roadsta? Wait, I thought you were from Ontario, not Boston Seriously, the car looks great! Miata's are terrific cars, but you've made a big step up with the Box. And trust me, with a wife, you're going to appreciate the two trunks, and the deep front one will really swallow quite a bit of stuff (used soft-sided or duffel type bags). Anything you need to keep cool, stow in the frunk (e.g. winby grc0456 - Main Forum
