Looks like the Ontario caravan may get larger next year! And with a Canadian King and Queen to boot. Sounds like we'll all be drinking Tim Horton's soon, by royal decreeby grc0456 - Main Forum

.......as the forecast for LS does not look too promising Not that we won't have a great time, which we will, but we may have limited opportunities to put the top down and take in the wonder Blue Ridge views. Travel safely, everyone!by grc0456 - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
Tomorrow the old Box gets a pre-trip oil change and look over at my indie shop. She's only about 3k miles since her last change, but I'd rather "get er done" before the trip. This weekend will be spent packing and giving the car a nice detailing. We can't leave until Tuesday as my wife, Ellen, is a nurse and has to work Sat, Sun, and Memorial Day Monday (ugh). Definitely printing this for future reference. Thanks for you work!by grc0456 - Main Forum
Thanks, Guenther! I have a rather large bag with tools and such (air pump, socket set, torx bits, tire plug kit, extra fuses, jumper cables, etc.) in the deep frunk. It takes up a lot of the available depth, so I think I may break that down and stow these items in nooks and crannies.by grc0456 - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
A few more: Tootsies - just to get the full-on honky-tonk experience Country Music Hall of Fame - interesting, even if you're not a big country music fanby grc0456 - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
Gonna detail the car the weekend before (weather permitting) with a full wash/clay/polish/wax (using the dual-action machine). Will check fluids and air-pressures. Debating doing an oil change as I'm about 2,000 miles away from my 5,000 mile scheduled change. Thinking I'll just change it when I get back. I also bought some water-less car wash from Griot's Garage that I can use while at our caby grc0456 - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
As long as I don't get short-sheeted, made to change everyone's left rear fog light, or send on a blinker fluid run - I'm good with buying a round or two!by grc0456 - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
25 days and counting! Looks like there 85 cars on the roster. We're excited for our 1st BRBS and looking forward to meeting many new friends!by grc0456 - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)

Thanks Guenter, Roger and of course, Pedro. I don't know if we adopted it, or the Box adopted us. She looks and drives like a much newer car. We get compliments all the time (and some unwanted attention from idiots in Ford Fiestas who want race us ) Yes' we look forward to meeting many new friends at BRBS. Now, I know Pedro can't go this year, but I wonder if cardboard cutout Pedro can make it??by grc0456 - Main Forum
Another first timer here as well. Hope to see meet some new friends, see some sights, and eat some carni food The people on the Boxster Register board are meeting for a photo at 1:15 in the concours area. I'm also planning to meet up with a friend from the 986forum. I should be there early as I am staying with family in Delaware tonight. Then its only a 90 minute ride up through Penn. I'll play. I wasn't on here back in the day. Probably because I drove a Honda Civic then (I still do - great DD commuter car). But I am I certified Boxtser exhibitionist. After an all-day spa and detail treatment, the old girl is looking good:by grc0456 - Main Forum
QuoteGuenter in Ontario QuoteRoger987 QuoteGary in SoFL Although this four-door 6-series Gran Coupe could hardly be called a 'sports car', there's something about this review which quickens my pulse.... even though I understand not one word being spoken. Oh, cool. I had forgotten his name. The story is something like the regular drummer got sick, and this kid practically got plucked out of the audience (not really) and went up on stage and played like that in front of a half million people. Incredible! Great to see that he is still playing. Thanks, Roger!by grc0456 - Main Forum

Nice report, Guenter. Sounds like a great trip. I rented a ragtop 'stang in LA a few years ago. I think mine was just a base six. Same deal, special upgrade available at LAX. Nice car to drive around town or to do some leisurely cruising, but I had generally the same impressions as you. Especially when I had a chance to drive the Angeles Crest Highway, a known twisty favorite for bikes and sby grc0456 - Main Forum
I can only chime in as another 986 owner who just did this - this weekend. There's a Youtube video for removing the bumper skin on a 986/996, and I'd imagine it's fairly similar on the 987. There were only two tricky screws - under the wheel well liner right behind the side markers. Would have been easier with wheels off, but I just turned them to get access. I had vacuumed from the front befby grc0456 - Main Forum

Congrats, Frontpage. What a beauty! And I'm sure every penny you spent with Pedro was needed and well worth it. Who cares that these cars are cheap to buy and can be expensive to maintain. How do you measure the pleasure you get every time you drive it, or even look at it? I sleep soundly at night knowing that my old 986 was Pedro-ized! Quotedennisafrompa I actually traded in my '73 914 2.0 when I got my '99 Boxster. The dealer wanted it for his collection. Cool, Dennis. It's probably a $20k+ car now. Not that it's a lot - like air cooled 911's from the era - but clearly it's a car people still want.by grc0456 - Main Forum
If not for the Boxster, I'd probably be driving (and trying to maintain) a well-sorted 1973 914 2.0. Clearly, they were/are not for everybody, but I just loved those cars. IMO they were funky and cool, and certainly there was nothing else like them on the road. The handling is the proverbial "as if on rails." I think they are great - if only they had another 50HP and had been dipped in a gianby grc0456 - Main Forum

QuoteRainyDayGarage We took the Boxster out to go to an all-day Aikido event in Somerville and was heading home around 8PM. There was about 5" of snow on the ground. That amount is nothing for New England, but the plows have not had time to clear all the roads at that time. With all the storm warnings, there weren't many vehicles on the road. So the going, while slow, was pretty non-eventful...by grc0456 - Main Forum
