hi grant, not sure that i'm following. with the airbag removed, the metal plate that is now exposed that floats on the four gold nuts/bushings is the horn plate. remove the four nuts to see the contact points under the plate. as for not doing something dumb, all I can suggest is to not listen to folks on the internet! disconnect your battery, wait x minutes (where x is some amount of timeby SMILIN - Main Forum
i'm not certain if it's a factory part. very hard to find. got it through suncoast (9X6BKN. it's slightly different from the factory part that I got from CFG many moons ago, but close enough. the painted section is now clear coated. the leather is a different texture and add stitching. otherwise, it's an exact replacement for my worn and torn part.by SMILIN - Main Forum
After ~18 years with an H&R lowered set up, I changed back to stock ride height. I had a couple of leaking shocks and torn boots, and decided to restore the OEM springs while in there. I just do street driving anymore and got tired of bottoming out on squirrels and scraping my bumper every time i pulled in and out of the driveway. I went with the US 030 kit out of laziness. happy early birthday to your car Trygve. I know that the way you've outfitted your car is about as close as you can get to a bad ass Boxster racer. I love the versatility of these cars. don't forget, BOXSTERS KICK ASS!by SMILIN - Main Forum

Thank you Grant and Marc. Revised plan to research and discuss with the shop: 1) dump the original springs that have been sitting in the attic for 18 years 2) new M030 springs and shocks and rubber mounting bits (M030 avail with '98? standard if not) 3) inspect, clean, grease, new boots for half-shafts 4) inspect all rubber and replace liberally What are a couple of the current leading sourceby SMILIN - Main Forum

I'm approaching 20 years and 147k miles on my '98. About 18 years and 110k miles, many track days and autocrosses (SMILES!) on H+R springs and 030 shocks. I haven't tracked the car in 8+ years and have been thinking about returning to OEM springs and shocks to reduce bottoming out on speed bumps, scraping the bumper on everything, and, well, sorry, but improving comfort. This should also allowby SMILIN - Main Forum
I guess I use my horn more often. easy fix. do an internet search on "boxster horn o-ring" - the first link takes you to a cheap, easy, good fix.by SMILIN - Main Forum

just great, thanks. family is great. life is good. coming up on 20 years with the car, and 145k smiles. usually drive to work with the top down, the radio blasting, and my Hawaiian shirt blowing in the wind. still just love it, and still amazed (and happy) about how so many friendships developed as a result of owning this car. good to hear from you. dougby SMILIN - Main Forum
