Had the same type of problem going to Portland Parade. At the last minute had to drive the Passat rather than the Boxster. The Passat did need new tires but didn't have time to change. Had a blowout on the way and ended up spending a day in Portland during the Parade finding new tires.by bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum
It was good talking to you Ed. It was probably the blue tape that disguised the Speed Yellow Yeah a dry heat in Michigan.by bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum
On my way to the Fort Worth Parade the fuel gauge went 'wonky'. When I made a fuel stop the gauge did not return to full. As I drove down the road the needle moved towards the full mark but never reached it. Spent the 2 weeks before I got home keeping track of the number miles between fill-ups. Turned out to be a fuel level sending unit - replaced under warranty. No problems since. This was oby bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum
Based on my experience with 2 Boxsters ( a base and a S) there is no reason to remove any fenders to replace the windshield. I had the windshield replaced on my '02S last fall and watched the tech do the work. You do have to replace the Titanium molding on the S. Not sure about the rubber molding. My understanding is that the only glass available is OEM; I wouldn't have any other kind installby bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum
Congratulations on the new!!! car. Parade registration is actually March 27th. Apparently there were some computer problems.by bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum
The hardest part for my tourist delivery was the months waiting to go there after ordering the car. 9/11 didn't help either. We left Denver one month after the attack. I think I did the break-in on the way from Stuttgart to Torgon. Switzerland. Didn't worry too much about the speed but I did keep it below 150 kph. This was the part of the trip when I got passed by the Jeep.by bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum
We were there in 2001 to take delivery of the 986S for the fall Grand Tour, Had three weeks ti travel, Germany, Switzerland and Austria - hit a little bit of France also on the south of Lake LeMan (Geneva). Since I was trying to pretend I was following the break-in suggestions, I kept the speed down to about 145 mph. Still quick enough. One time I had backed off to about 100 mph and got passby bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum
Used to see bumper stickers on US285 to the effect that I drive 285 and survived. Drove many times to and from work (Evergreen to Waterton Canyon/ I-25/Arapahoe Rd. A better drive though was South Turkey Creek Canyon to Deer Creel Canyon Road towards Waterton Canyon, especially during the winter.by bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum
305 miles from my home/garage to the nearest Porsche dealer It is a great drive through the mountains though.by bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum
That was the logo on my '70 911T. I do recall seeing some 2.4L with a similar logo but I think they were aftermarket additions.. Loved the 2.2, it was the first 911 I owned (bought used in 1973) and I turned it into a concours winning example. Replaced it in 1980 with a '74 which was I turned into basically a streetable race car that I restored to original in 1998 then sold.by bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum
Been there several times. When the spouse and I were able to square dance, we even danced on the medallion dentoing the actual junction of the 4 states.by bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum
If the system is the PCM1 be aware that updates for it are no longer available and haven't been since about 2002. The PCM2 system is a CAN based unit and would require a large amount of rewiring work to fit into a 2001 Boxster. I have an '02S with the PCM1 system and it is almost useless for any detail work; it will get me into the general area and then I have to rely on maps or an additional Gby bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum
I solved this problem in my '02S by wiring the remote into the window opener switch and hiding the remote under the center ashtray. It did require purchasing a rocker switch from the dealer (at the time about $26). There use to be a link to a site, Boxsey.com, but it doesn't appear to be active at this time. I think there is a way to search the early PPBB archives and the info may be there.by bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum

Been there, done that. It was interesting to see the Enterprise. I was on the team that did the testing and checkout at Palmdale in the 70's. You haven't lived until you are in the landing gear bay and they raise it to ensure that there were no hydraulic leaks I got stuck with the job because I was the team lead that did the computer modeling for the hydraulic systems in addition to the fligby bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum

I made my reservation yesterday (the Parade is too far and too humid ) There are two packages, a full event package including the banquet on Saturday night @ $275 per person and a "light" package not including the banquet @ $205 per person. There are quite a few tours, both guided and self-guided. The guided tours range form about $95 per person to $45 ea. The self-guided tours are IIRC $15 eby bgale (Montrose,CO) - Events
I lived in the area and worked in DC for 12 years and had the same problem on every commute. I didn't even have to be driving the Porsche.by bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum

I watched all 4 parts and it was moving. I never drove any F1 cars but having raced sports cars in the late 50's & early 60's, I can strongly relate to the lack of safety regulations and the dangers involved.by bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum

Great pics. I have been to most of those sites several times (of course I'm a lot closer than your are ) I was a little surprised you missed a picture of Snoopy and Lucy in Sedona -- great little town. We vacation there quite often (have a timeshare condo there). We usually try to go in the Spring or Fall when the temps are only in the 80's or 90'sby bgale (Montrose,CO) - Main Forum
