A subtle, but nice ergonomic touch is the Alfa center gauges biased toward the driver. Laz - Wednesday, 29 February, 2012, at 10:39:56 pm |

Yes, all else being "equal," how can the action be as good as the previous position? Laz - Thursday, 1 March, 2012, at 1:58:27 pm |

I like that the shifter is closer to the wheel in height; however, it looks like it may be set further back than the old one. I wouldn't like that one bit. That's the case in the E90 BMW, and it felt very unnatural. I assume the Boxster's won't be anywhere near as bad; but generally, I think companies are now designing for autos and PDK, not for manual.
Sat in a 991 at local launch party... you'll like it in your new 981 *NM* Burg Boxster - Thursday, 1 March, 2012, at 7:44:35 pm |

Obviously you can't change the pivot point, but you can move the shifter in any direction about 1.5 inches.
This allows you to tailor it to your liking.
Happy Boxstering

Do you mean you can change the location of the shift mechanism (thinking of the short shift kit for instance) in any direction? Does that include up or down?
Not that I want to change mine, but just thinking out loud for possible future applications.
It may just be that the pictures are from slightly different angles. But it looks as if the top of 981 shifter is some 4 - 5 inches higher than the one in the 987. That would make it some 6 - 7 inches higher than the one in your car.Quote
