QuoteMikenOH Had hoped to finish the year on stock pads but I think the car just has too much top end and/or braking areas for a track like MidOH to be effective for more than 15 minutes--so hello Carbotech or Pagid ($-gulp). Was at Mid OH last week end with Potomac and Maumee Valley. The Pagid Oranges I was running did fine. They're a little pricy, but having brakes at the end of the backby Dave In MD - Main Forum
Or this one.. Just kidding. Congratulations Guenter! I look forward to seeing it next year at BRBS. Daveby Dave In MD - Main Forum
Changing brake pads is very easy on these cars - both 986 and 987. I change mine all the time between track pads and street pads. With an impact wrench and a shop jack, it's a 20 minute job if you don't rush. The light just says the pad material is getting thin and it's done with a sensor attached to the pad. If it just came on, it's very unlikely you'll have a problem before "work on yourby Dave In MD - Main Forum
I'll be there next week end. PCA Potomac is having a 3 day event there. There's still room if you want to join us. There are 20 Caymans and 10 Boxsters signed up. It's on motorsportreg.com Would love to see the new car on the track Daveby Dave In MD - Main Forum
QuoteBoxsterra They always do. Unfortunately, it looks like we may be one of them. Not definite yet, but work is trying real hard to get in the way of BRBS this year. We were wait listed with the hotel last year for an upgrade and got it. There's a good bit of changes in the reservations in the month before the start.by Dave In MD - Main Forum
I bought a Cayman under CPO from a dealer back in September last year. The car came with new Michelin super sports. I've never had the PS2s, so I can't speak to the comparison but the SS tires are definitely very good handling steet tires. We'll see how the wear goes. As for the N rating, it's the "spec" tire for Porsche new cars but the dealer obviously didn't seem to care about it. In allby Dave In MD - Main Forum

None here. Nothing done to the suspension other than ROW M030, 18" wheels and track alignment.by Dave In MD - Main Forum
and installed mostly for DE. I pretty much agree with your assessment. My quick summary would be: Pot holes are much harsher, highway is actually a little better and on track is a huge improvement. Shorter suspension travel translates to harsher reaction to pot holes, big bumps and even pavement seams. Much less rebound from dips and pavement transitions helps on a smooth highway and makeby Dave In MD - Main Forum
QuoteJake Raby "Not sure Socrates would have agreed with you." Pretty sure that I don't care. Raby Pretty sure he doesn't either since he died in 399 BC! I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing. - Socratesby Dave In MD - Main Forum
QuoteRoger987 Not sure Socrates would have agreed with you. But then, he wasn't much of a thinker, was he. The philosophy department at the University here has a motto: Just think about it. Of course, the converse could be the Nike slogan: Just do it. Not sure if it comes from Porsche as a "package" anymore, but you can still get the parts. Suncoast still sells it as a single item for the 986. Suncoast Porsche Parts You could also give Bert Smith a call and see if they have it.by Dave In MD - Main Forum
Quotegrant But, that said, the M030 full kit (springs, dampers, bars) seesm to be excellent. Note that the performance of suspension is often neither good nor bad, its a trade off. Same here! Found it helped A LOT on the track over the stock. It's added stability and stays flatter in the corners. seem to be less used today than in the past. This thread may be indicative of that change in that other technology has supplanted the function they performed. I quit wearing a watch some years back as cell phones (and now smart phones) became always with you devices and always have the correct time, usually even adjusting themselves to time zone changes. My current MacBook Pro is about 6 months old, so not sure if they've changed recently but from what I can tell from their website, it looks like it's the same. On mine, there's both the Thunderbolt and the mini display port. Left to right on the right side of the keyboard it's: power, ethernet, thunderbolt, mini display, USB, USB, memory card slot. I use a video connector and use both my 24" LED and my MacBook display. Works great and provides a lot of screen real estate. Another one of the "it just works" part of OSX. Hook it up and it does the new screen perfectly. IIRC, the default is for the 2nd screen on the right, but it is changable (mines on the left).by Dave In MD - Main Forum

Agree. Powerpoints especially don't seem to be rendered near the same and fancy excel macros usually generate errors. There's also LibreOffice, which is a fork of Open Office. Greetings from my OpenSUSE 12.1 Linux box. Yea, I know - geek. I use Linux at home for day to day email, web surfing, music, video, NAS storage, development, etc. But, I'm also a MacBook Pro user and have been for years. And Andriod for my phone and Nexus 7. I also have a work Win 7 laptop and a home Win 7 machine. I'm not convinced that the Mac's TCO is that much different from Windows.by Dave In MD - Main Forum
There are several, but I've been using the Willwood dual receiver hitch for the past few years. I bought a used HF trailer and hitch from someone who was moving to a car on trailer arrangement. There's more info on the hitch here: Willwood I've seen a lot of different set ups for the trailer. Look around the Web and you'll find lots of examples. Just got power back around 4:30 today after it going out last night at 7:30. The temp has been dropping all day so it's nice to have heat again. We got through relatively unscathed, but there's a lot of damage in the area with trees down and flooding. just to update, I had the car on the racetrack at New Jersey Motorsports Park over the weekend. Runs terrific. Even on street tires. Very happy with the car! I believe Dr. Porsche would be proud. Bought the car on a Saturday, drove it home via the mountain roads and ran it on the track the next Friday. BRBS should be fun!by Dave In MD - Main Forum
QuoteThe Voxster ('03S, In-A-Band Jose) I think I've managed to put another 3-4k on her since then! :-) Very cool. It still amazes me the cars that get so may miles. One of my friends was lamenting that his Boxster's engine blew up this past weekend at 207k miles while he was on the racetrack track. Of course, you need to be doing 90 miles an hour to match Pedro's photos. Although, I don't tby Dave In MD - Main Forum
yep, I'd been thinking about a new one and the loss of permagrin with the car in the shop just lasted too long. I'd really like to keep both. Nothing like a convertible for the drives in the twisties in pretty weather. It's why I originally bought the car.by Dave In MD - Main Forum
