I still like Janis' version best - but I think I was in love with her! Don't tell Dianne!by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
After my recent experience with a quality body shop, I can attest that there really is a difference. My dad was a dealer and had his own body shop. His shop could not hold a candle to the work that top line shops (at least the one in Atlanta) do.by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
After returning last night from the land of the midnight sun (Norway, Iceland etc), I went this morning to pick up the Georgia CURVN8R from the body shop after my shunt on I-285 with a crazy "lady"! I was delighted to find that I could not tell that it had been damaged. Good work from this body shop (Performance Auto Collision near Atlanta). They had even cleaned it up better than I left it -by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum

Generally, I have experienced fairly grubby operations at body shops - at least the customer input areas. Here, they were polite - the place was clean and comfortable. They offered bottled water, coffee, soft drinks, candy and even fresh cookies. The service writer was polite, knowledgeable and efficient. More importantly, I noticed a number of Porsches out front coming in for work. I noticedby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum

I spent a Little time with them on temporary duty in the avionics shop at Nellis. Back then they flew F-100s.by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum

I have babied this car for three years like no other. Not a dent on it and even a couple of rock chips were repaired immediately. Even though I am hopeful it will be as good as new, I will know that the right front fender has required "plastic surgery". Probably a personality fault that it bothers me so much! BTW - I got hit a couple of weeks ago by a crazy lady. I will take my baby to the body shop Monday. Hopefully all will be well when I return from vacation. mikeby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
Why do it yourself? Have a good body shop do it. After all, you are not paying for it. Besides, if there is any hidden damage, you have a better chance of getting it paid for if a reputable, approved shop has done the work. mikeby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
I am a new member of PCA and noticed this event not far from here. If we go, it would be nice to meet up with some of the folks from the board. mikeby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
OTOH, what good is any warranty if failure is most likely discovered when the engine is blown? At that point, replacing the IMS guardian system seems a waste of time. Sort of like throwing a new parachute on the body lying on the ground.by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
If it doesn't work, the engine is toast. I would guess that it would not pay for a new engine - but would only replace the system. Isn't that sort of like a free replacement guaranty on a parachute? Just curious. mikeby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
Pretty easy to ahieve high mpg on it!by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
It is fun to see how high you can get the mpg computer to go. I often drive down a very steep road and am able to register over 100 mpg if I reset it at the top of the hill - unless I hit traffic. Now if I could just figure a way to do that on level ground, I would be rich! mikeby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
I don't know how accurate the display is on my 987 - but even when I reset it, it eventually ends up at 39 mph average. mikeby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
The letter I received promised me, among other things, more power if I traded now. Problem is that the base model Boxster listed (the only version listed in the literature I received) is 255 hp while my 08 S has 295 hp. You would think they would have at least listed the specs of a new S model. mikeby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum

around Cashiers. I can put up 8 to 10 folks at my house in Cashiers, NC and there are plenty of other accommodations around. Can't even begin to provide what Karl does - but we have some great roads and the food and Scotch at m house will be good! Let me know if anyone is interested and we can try to work up some details. mikeby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
Great ideas - but I am afraid it is a little difficult (and I don't think fast enough) to get license numbers when trying to cross 3 or 4 lanes at 70mph! Just getting to the shoulder was about all I could accomplish.by Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
I am aware of that issue - but I am also aware that just about every good body shop has arrangements with some insurance companies. (Heck, years ago, my dad (a dealer with a body shop) used to "donate" a case of whisky to each adjuster around Christmas time. I don't know if dealers still do that but I would not be surprised if various "inducements" are still given.) However, in this case, it apby Lawdevil & CURVN8R - Main Forum
They are a State Farm "Preferred" repair facility - which means I don't have to mess around much with an adjuster - they repair it and send the bill to State Farm with relatively little fuss - or so they both say. You are right about Atlanta. I can't wait to get out of here. It is lucky I was changing lanes (away from the "lady" who hit me) or the damage would have been much worse.
