I agree. It's another great application for electrics. Just not sure it would get me to BRBS.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Interesting. By good investment, I take it you're talking about the PPI / oil change and not the car. I recognize the metal bits, but what are the chalky or sandy looking chunks and bits?by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Quotejwdbox Not really an issue since you only have limited storage But you couldn't even go on a Fun Run and I never pack anything for those. I just don't see how electric cars can be useful, except for short trips like shopping at the local mall or commuting to work as long as your work is less than 30 - 40 miles away. ....sigh . Your experience is pretty normal, as far as I can see, Mike. I've found the same thing when shopping around for new cars. There was about $2,500 difference between two dealers when I was purchasing my wife's BMW. It was precisely the same car as we were ordering rather than puchasing off the lot. Some dealers are more willing to bargain than others.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Well, it does sound interesting. I think there will certainly be a market for this type of vehicle. You sure can't argue with the performance in term of acceleration. Fastest Boxster to 60 mph, that's for sure. No tachometer. It's always been the dominant instrument in a Porsche cluster. Quite a paradigm shift for a Porschefile No mention is made of driving range. QuoteLorrie New Engine? Brakes? HORNS?! I'm having visions of this car at a recent ChumpCar race that had horns, real horns, mounted on the front of the car. Not on my baby! Yikes! I wouldn't put real horns on you Boxster either, because then you'd also have to get matching seat covers, 22' blingy wheels and one of those car rattling stereo systems.by Guenter in Ontario - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
QuoteLorrie Maybe I won't replace mine quite yet after all! I know, I'll have a set shipped in to Little Switzerland... Isn't Saturday the tech sessions / install day? That's a slippery slope, Lorrie. QuoteLaz Then I moved to where I do a lot more highway driving and the wear rate doubled. I'm surprised. I would think that the tires would last longer if you're doing more highway cruising. You'd think that stopping, starting and cornering would increase tire wear - specially the rears.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Maybe the ContiSprot Contact 3's have more straight line driving with 2 trips to BRBS (about 4.5 K total) OK, so the roads in NC weren't all that straight. . And one trip to California, (about 7.5 K miles) a lot of that was relatively straight roads, but managed to find a few curvey ones.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Lorrie, if you're anywhere near the wear bars, I wouldn't risk driving to BRBS and back with them. Specially on the mountain roads, you want good tires and brakes. I'm on my second set of Continentals -ContiSportContact 3's. My rears have 22,000 miles on them and have about 50% of the tread left on them. They've lasted a lot longer than my ContiSportContact 2's. My fronts are done at 20,000 mileby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum

QuoteLaz Look at the second sentence in the review by the Hyundai driver. (It might still be the first one.) It's a bit funny and took me a couple readings to figure out what the person was probably trying to say. There are four of them in the back, With the top (and clamshell) partly open, on each side there is a drain near the bottom of the plastic liner. There is another one right near the end of the channel close to the door frame (near the tip of the clamshell). If these get clogged, you'll get water into the interior during a heavy rain.
