else get a sudden urge to do a hack on their Boxster when they wear their PB hat?by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
I think the carbon buildup on the tailpipe has something to do with driving style. Lots of short trips, cold starts, mostly low RPM's causes less efficient burning of fuel and carbon build up. With the engine properly warmed up (for me that's the coolant temp at 80 C or 180 F + at least 10 more minutes of driving to make sure the oil is properly warmed up too), it's good to give it an "Italian tby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum

I wouldn't have got my TechnoVolt. Boy oh boy, BRBS sure wouldn't have been the same without you. Maybe the tire bulge is an Atlanta thing. I had the same type of thing happen quite a few years ago on route to Florida. I limped into Atlanta and managed to get a replacement tire on a Saturday. After returning home, I had to get the shock at that wheel replaced. It had taken quite a beating. (Nby Guenter in Ontario - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)

during your reign, we'll have no rain at BRBS next year. Hey, if they old king could do it, why not the new one.by Guenter in Ontario - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
Hey Roger, This guys was setting a pretty good pace too.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
We had a great time going to and taking part in BRBS. The CanAm Caravan making a pitstop On the way to Bristol. Cars ready to go for a few laps. Yes, we had some fun. Somebody following in his dad's tire prints.by Guenter in Ontario - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
I don't know how Karl and Ron do it. Every year, BRBS gets better and better. What a beautiful location, having the Diamondback in our back yard, the food was great. All the activities were fun and enjoyed by everyone to whom I talked. I loved the idea of the umbrellas. I think we should get them again next year. WOW! Couldn't believe the weather. Drove topless the whole time. I GREAT BIG thanby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
It definitely stays cooler. I haven't measured the temperature, but anything in the back trunk is definitley nice and warm. Best place to store a sweatshirt if you expect the temperatures to drop. The sweatshirt comes out nice an warm.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Looking good, Dave. Lots of room for NC bugs.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
Got out on a Fun Run yesterday. Just a little warmup run for this Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We started out at Bayfield right on the shore of Lake Huron. Gray day, but pretty much dry. On the road. Stopped for lunchby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
QuotePedro (Weston, FL) ... how well you're getting to know me, or... am I THAT predictable? Happy Boxstering, Pedro 3 days, 16 hours, 38 minutes! Ya learn a thing or two about people when you hang out with them all the time. Now 3 days, 15 hours 7 minutes, but who's counting.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum

Happy to help in a small way. We just appreciate all the work you and Ron do to make BRBS what it is.by Guenter in Ontario - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
QuoteRoger987 Don't think I've seen this question posted before. Will two 235 width Boxster tires fit (not mounted) fit in the passenger seat of a 987, and leave room for me to shift gears? I'm en route to BRBS (currently in NC, where the temp yesteday was over 30 degrees C. Did you catch the Guenter? - it's toasty!) I may pick up some new PS2's when I cross the border back into Canada, Yup. Cby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum

Quotefrogster is that like Winnipeg cold or Vancouver cold? Ah, yes. I almost forgot about our left coast "cold". Poor s**wflakes don't stand a chance, reduced to a small quivering globul of water, even in the middle of your "winter". - I was refering to "real" winter.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
QuotePetee_C the ppi car was driven 60+ 0mile trips in the past 5 yrs..... so i think it qualifies for short distance driving.... just a differential diagnosis (DDx) BTW, I'm not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV, just on the web. P Since the PPI was done by Pedro, I have a sneeking suspicion that the car was not a Canadian (or northern US states) car. So it doesn't qualify on that score.by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
The white/cream goo stuff you're describing is water condensation. And you're right it's worst in cars driven short distances in cold (Canadian cold - not Florida "cold") weather. I had it on my Jetta too. What Pedro was showing was in the filter. Actually little chunks and pieces. Similar colour but different (and more expensive) stuff.)by Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
QuotePedro (Weston, FL) ... debris are shavings from the IMS timing chain guides. My guess is that the IMS bearing is worn and the chains are doing a number on the plastic guides and on the IMS Sprockets (metal bits). This car sat for 5 years and the owner (unknowingly) did the worst thing he could do for it's longevity: He started it every month. By doing this, after one month of being idle, anby Guenter in Ontario - Main Forum
