Well, boredom and curiosity got the best of me, so I strayed onto a Ferrari chat board. I figured I could keep my '01S as a DD and buy a Ferrari for a garage queen. Luckily, before I posted anything, I browsed a while. The first thing I saw was a noob with the same sort of questions any noob would ask- Any recommendations on model, year, maintenance issues, budget. All he got was a two page rby IFlyLow - Main Forum

It was in the shop for a clutch repair, so there should have been no reason to mess with the oil. It had been sitting for 9 months, nothing on the garage floor, so I don't think there was a leak. As far as the flashing indicator, she said it was the whole thing, not the individual bar. She did check the dipstick, and she does know how to read one. She said when she checked it the first time iby IFlyLow - Main Forum
Thanks Marc, She did check the dipstick, and confirmed it was low. I just had this nagging thought that there wasn't a dipstick, and wanted to ease my mind. Things always seem worse when you're not there to confirm them, I remembered all the posts about doing away with dipsticks, and wanted to make sure.by IFlyLow - Main Forum
Stupid question, and I'm embarrassed to ask, but I am trying to troubleshoot from Afghanistan, and haven't driven mine in over a year. My wife drove it home from the shop today, and twice, while the engine was at normal temp, she turned the key and saw the flashing oil indicator. Assuming it was low, she put a quart in each time. When I said it was probably overfilled, she said the dipstick sby IFlyLow - Main Forum
My wife and I looked at Audi SUVs, but our biggest complaint was that the base model was pretty well stripped, and they really charged for options. My wife is driving (and I get to ride, if I'm lucky!) our second X5, this one a 2012 Diesel. We love it. Lots of torque, and all the bells and whistles were included. My only complaint, with the 2007 and the 2012 is that the seats are too firm.by IFlyLow - Main Forum

Yeah, thanks. I have the same picture from the parts disc, and I can't tell either. The first (Presumably incorrect) time iinstalled it, the large flange was aft. The pressure plate slid on easily, which I assumed was a good thing. Speaking to the mechanic at Black Forest, I found out that the pressure plate should have significant spring pressure on it while torqueing it. Once turning it arby IFlyLow - Main Forum
Price? How hard is installation?by IFlyLow - Main Forum
Well, I am pretty sure I put the clutch plate in backwards. I turned it around, so that the larger flange is forward (in other words, the pressure plate is farther aft than before), and the pressure plate had much more back-pressure when I torqued it. Can somebody please confirm that this was correct, because I am now having other clutch issues. My current problem feels like a bleed issue,by IFlyLow - Main Forum
So, I was thinking about all the possible weak point in the system. Could someone who is familiar with the inner workings of the clutch answer this? Looking at the parts diagram (didn't want to post it due to copyright) the release arm pivots on a small piece, which snaps on to a ball. two questions: First, is that ball adjustable, i.e., fore/aft? Second, if that small piece had somehow fallenby IFlyLow - Main Forum
I have posted recently concerning my clutch dragging/not releasing completely. I just read another post concerning the use of DOT 4 fluid. I used DOT 5.1 I don't know the differences in the ratings. Is this possibly a cause?by IFlyLow - Main Forum
Thanks for all the comments. I replaced the slave yesterday, master today, and pressure bled the system. No change. I guess the comment about improper torque on the pressure plate could apply, though I followed the books, and torqued in two stages. I think I will have to give it to the dealer on Monday and hope for the best.by IFlyLow - Main Forum
I am keeping the pedal depressed. Not sure about the ABS, but I haven't read anything about it in the Bentley manual. I am going to replace the slave cylinder and see if it fixes the problem. I will know in the morning. I'm picking up a master cylinder and a slave cylinder, just in case.by IFlyLow - Main Forum
I had the exact problem, but the fix wasn't what Pedro said. (Whoa, never thought I would disagree with THE Pedro!) Just fixed it last week, and wish I had taken pictures. There is a 6" peice of plastic, looks like the string from a weedeater. It fits into a groove on the horizontal pivoting plastic pice, mounted to the pivot point. I know that sounds confusing, but once you find the strip,by IFlyLow - Main Forum
I am having serious problems with my clutch. Changed clutch, IMS, etc. a few months ago, and have had this problem since then, though it has gotten worse. At first, I thought the different clutch feel was due to a new clutch, but it has progressed. Recently, I have had to have the pedal fully depressed to disengage the clutch. The instant the pedal was off the floor, it would engage. It hasby IFlyLow - Main Forum
Sounds similar to what mine is doing, though not exactly. The travel feels normal on mine, no distinct point where it gets harder/easier. The clutch will not disengage until the pedal is on the floor. I think even then, it is still barely engaged, since it is harder to put into gear, and I feel a slight bump when it does go in. I bled the clutch, though not with the power bleeder, so I mightby IFlyLow - Main Forum
Having issues with my 01S clutch. Last week, it was getting stuck halfway up, and the pedal wouldn't come completely up without an extra nudge. I bled the clutch, and it fixed that part, but I am still concerned that the clutch isn't completely disengaging. With the car at idle, clutch fully in, I can shift into any gear, but there is a little hesitation in reverse. When it goes into gear,by IFlyLow - Main Forum
My RX-8 had comparable HP, 250 IIRC, but only when you got close to the 8500 redline. Lots of fun when you were driving it hard, but it was a slug around town. I hope that isn't the case with theseby IFlyLow - Main Forum
I replaced mine with the Wevo polyurethane mount. It was an easy install, since it came in two pieces, and was bolted in. I did sacrifice some comfort, though, since much more vibration is transmitted to the cockpit.by IFlyLow - Main Forum
I have a few symptoms which seem related, and I think point to bleeding the brakes/clutch, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing something. The most troubling was yesterday, when my clutch pedal would only come 6-8 inches off the floor. The clutch was engaged, and I could shift, but the pedal would stop halfway up. With a slight nudge, it would continue up, but there seemed to be a sliby IFlyLow - Main Forum
