I received an email from Charles Navarro, from LN engineering. He states that his company waives the restocking fee for the IMS bearings, so no harm done! I will be ordering today.by IFlyLow - Main Forum
I am going to replace the IMS bearing, but live in Germany. To avoid a long delay, I want to order both single and double row bearings and send the unused one back. Pelican parts charges 15% restocking fee, and LN engineering charges 25%. Does anyone sell these without a restocking fee? I'm not a math wiz, but 25% of $580 is, like, a lot!by IFlyLow - Main Forum
As a helicopter pilot, we allow two minutes at idle before shutting down the turbine engines. This is to prevent uneven cooling on the compressor fins, which could cause scoring on subsequent starts. In Japan I had an RX-7 (twin-turbo) which had an after market turbo-timer on it. It required you to bypass the system if you wanted to shut down less than a minute after driving. I understood thby IFlyLow - Main Forum
Awesome. I have one, but didn't think to use it. I'll let you know how it goes.by IFlyLow - Main Forum
Wow, I was a dumba$$ three times in one post! 1. I left the top down in a light rain. 2. got home after midnight, didn't look too bad, so I put the top up and dried it in the morning. 3. Left the top down in the sun to finish the drying. (Wife: "Are you sure you want to do that?" Me: "Oh, yeah, it is the best thing for it!" I didn't think I could do this much damage in one day! So, what you're sayin', if I understand, is that I should stop draining my dirtbikes and puring the used oil in my P-car?by IFlyLow - Main Forum
Thanks for the info. As much as I love technology, not having a dipstick (my X5 is the same ) doesn't make sense to me.by IFlyLow - Main Forum
the car was somewhat level. I have started the car quite a few times since then, and it seems to work pretty consistently. I plan to change the oil next weekend. Is there anything I should look at while it is drained? Not sure where the oil level sensor is, or if I need to get at it from underneath.by IFlyLow - Main Forum
The whole icon was flashing, not just the oil level. It might be important that now it works, but it is showing overfilled. I did add a quart a few days ago, but the dipstick is still showing the oil at the correct level. Basic troubleshooting would suggest it has something to do with the oil I added, but I am confused because the dipstick is normal.by IFlyLow - Main Forum
Yesterday I noticed shortly after starting that the oil level icon was flashing. I shut off the car and it would not check the oil level. I manually checked it (thankfully I have a dipstick!) and the level was fine, so I drove home. It eventually stoped flashing, and now works normally. What exactly is the flashing indicator indicating?by IFlyLow - Main Forum
Over here, the drivers are aggressive and fast (I get passed by motor homes!) But EVERYONE follows the rules. It is predictable. There are so many 'me first' attitudes in the states that higher speed limits invite idiots to be idiots.by IFlyLow - Main Forum
Sorta morbid, don't you think? Like carrying my dogs ashes with meby IFlyLow - Main Forum
So, I'm thinkin' there are a bunch of people on this forum with interesting key chains. Here is mine- the second-most important key is the Blackhawk ignition keyby IFlyLow - Main Forum
The local Porsche club had open track day at Hochenheim last weekend. I missed it, but hope to get in on the next one.by IFlyLow - Main Forum
I had a leak from a spark plug tube which dripped directly onto the exhaust at the O2 sensor. 50 bucks and an hour on the lift, easy DIY project. Check out pedro's garage for the procedure.by IFlyLow - Main Forum
I had mice build a good-sized nest on top of the cabin filter of my RX-8. I never got rid of the smell. Had to get rid of the car!! Also, last month, I had a bad problem with my BMW X5. In Germany, the have Marders, which I think is another name for weasel. Anyway, we had one in the engine compartment, chewed wires, caused a fire, which melted the vacuum lines for the brakes. My first Porshe (Dad's, actually) was a burned out 914. I didn't follow it at the time, and didn't know it was a common problem. Fun car for a high-schooler, though!by IFlyLow - Main Forum
Awesome. That is exactly what I needed, thanks!by IFlyLow - Main Forum
I think I have the same problem. Are you talking about the cable above the door not fitting in the channel? I need to help guide it into the channel as the top reaches 3/4 up. If this is the same problem could you describe where the elastic is?by IFlyLow - Main Forum
Fiddly is not the word I would have chosen. It took about 4 hours for me, and most of that was reconnecting the hoses. I can't see the logic in the way the Dr. plumbed these lines.by IFlyLow - Main Forum
Thanks. Sounds like you have done somw homework on the topic!by IFlyLow - Main Forum
I traded an RX-8 for my Boxster. (Had an RX-7 before that) The rotary engines definitely were the smoothest I have felt, due to no reciprocating parts. The mileage, though was horrid. Basically, the same as any two-stroke engine, it had to run at higher RPM to generate decent power.by IFlyLow - Main Forum
So, living overseas, Esso gas is subsidized by the DOD to roughly equate prices in the states. Being half the local rate, it's pretty much prohibitive going to other brands. Esso here is slowly but surely phasing out super and replacing with E10. I have no experience with it, but need to know what to expect in my 01 S and also in my 07 BMW X5. I had heard that mileage is atrocious. Any expeby IFlyLow - Main Forum

Thanks. I will return them and look for some Beru plugs.by IFlyLow - Main Forum
Good info on the cats, Jeff. I just replaced the spark plug tubes today, though not sure these two are related. I haven't gotten the CEL for a while, but I will keep what you said in mind.by IFlyLow - Main Forum
Before I say anything ,I want to thank Pedro AGAIN fot his detailed DIY pages. I changed spark plug tubes, cleaned the throttle body and replaced the MAF with absolutely no surprises. It sure makes repairs easier when you know what to expect. My question: I bought the recommended Bosch plugs (two contacts) but when I pulled the current plugs, there were four contacts and they were approx 3/by IFlyLow - Main Forum
Thanks for the help! All these things make sense, and I will go down the list one by one. I have not had any rough running since the isolated stall, and the CEL stayed off after I reset it. O2 sensor makes sense, because I have an oil leak which has been dripping directly onto the RH O2 sensor. I was going to fix that until my X5 caught fire this weekend. I guess I will have to wait until thby IFlyLow - Main Forum
I got a CEL today, so I hooked up the Durametric. I got a P0430 cat conversion bank 2 code. Right now it isn't running funny, but last week I posted regarding symptoms I assumed was a MAF (rough, no power, stalled at 3500RPM) Any guidance? Other codes, not as pressing were: 60 central locking limit position not reached 46 Driver belt buckle 49 Passenger belt buckle Not sure how to interpreby IFlyLow - Main Forum
