Thanks Pedro, I will consider that option. Right now look like I am going to sell it. Any one on the forum wants it? $3K take it? I also have a hardtop that match, that would be $1K. I am sad to see my baby go :-(((((( Thanks, Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
Well finally , my mechanic called me today and he said the engine just die the big way, it is not worth saving :-( Not exact sure what yet, will talk to him tomorrow. What are my options? Remanu. engine, Used engine sell as roller ? How much for each option, please advice :-) I am thinking just sell it and done with Porsche :-( Thanks, Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
I talked to one of the shop near my house (EuroTech Advanced Automotive speciallized in Porsche) and Bill told me it does not look good if the engine does not turn. He won't be able to look at it until next week :-( May be I should open up the oil filter and see if any metal in there? Thanks, Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
HI Pedro, If it is AOS, should the car has a lot of smoke coming out? Which I did not see at all. It just stopped, ka-put and die :-( Thanks, Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
Thanks Pedro! I will take your advice and have a shop look at it. Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
How much do you think I can sell it as roller? The car is in excellent condition until yesterday :-))) Thanks, Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
HI Grant, Sorry for not being clear, I was driving the car after about 50 miles, pulled in the gas station next to my house, with the engine on, filled her up and pulled out, As soon as I make a left turn back to my house from the station, I accelerated and then I hear a whooping sound like air came out from a flat tire, I felt the engine speed up very high and then dropped, all lights came onby boxster99 - Main Forum
HI all, The IMS ghost might just pay me a visit. The car was running fine, went out a drive about 50 miles, pull into gas station, fill it up, pull out then I heard a noise (sound like air escaping from a flat tire), all lights are on, the engine just stop. Can't crank it afterward. Put on an OBDII reader and it shows no code. IMS?? There is no drop of oil or anything, open up the timing belt aby boxster99 - Main Forum
How do you check if engine mount is shot? My car has 36K miles on it. I have a mid-rise lift. Thanks, Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
I have not bleed the clutch for 2 years about the same time that I changed the trans. oil. Gear changes from 2nd to 3rd was the worse, did not fell smooth at all even the clutch was all the way in. When I release the clutch I always try to match engine speed, around 3K+ RPM but the car still jerking. My other half keep laughing at me like I was some amateur just know how to drive manual :-) I aby boxster99 - Main Forum
Hi all, Lately my 99's base boxster clutch is acting up. Every time I changed gears (did not feel smooth anymore) and released the clutch, it jerked the car more than it used to. Is it time for new clutch? I had the transmission oil drain/refill about 2 years ago. Thanks, Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
Check out home depot for gutter cover section. It cost about $2.50 a piece, I bought one and it fits perfectly for my honda accord 03. What can I say? I am cheap Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
About $70 for me ($46 oil, $15 air filer, $10 oil filter) With 4 cars in the house, it adds up if you take them to stealer. My LS460 requires 10 quarts every six months as requirement. Thanks, Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
I just went thru the same problem with my Honda. it blew hot air. Turned out condenser is leaking. Put some dye in at the same time you refill with refrigerant (make sure, no leak sealer please) And buy an ultra violate flash light. It will show you if you have a leak or not. Thanks, Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
Here is the cut/paste copy of one of the exper on the web: "Refrigerant oil will start to boil off at approx 175 microns I have NEVER been able to pull anything under 200 microns on a MVAC system the shaft seal will not hold I usually shoot for 500 microns and lots of times settle for anything under 700. Unless you have a unusually tight system and a very powerful deep vacuum pump you have nothiby boxster99 - Main Forum
I pulled the vacuum for about 1 hour. I only remove/replace the condenser and receiver. This is what confusing me: some one said the vacuum is to lower the water boiling temp so it can evaporate, it should not pull any more oil out from it, should it? Others said it will suck the system dry including oil. Any vacuum expert around here? Thanks, Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
Hi folks, I have been searching the web all over and could not find a clear answer so hopefully some experts here can help me. Note: it is for a Honda 03 Accord (non-Boxster) Anyway, with UV dye I found out my AC condenser is leaking (bad design) so I replaced the condenser and the receiver. The manual call for 25 ml (condenser), 10 ml (receiver) of oil (PAG 46 = ND-OIL-8??) to be added after Iby boxster99 - Main Forum
Hi folks, I regularly rotate all my cars' tires once a year except for the boxster. Since the front and rear are not the same size, is it good idea just to swap left and right? Thanks, Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
Hi folks, I have several questions and need some expert advices: 1. I had my hardtop on for the past 3 years (too lazy to take it off, plus I like the look with the hardtop on . What does it do to the car soft top? Will I ruin the plastic window? 2. Last time when I put the soft top up (that was 3 years ago), the clamp shell did not close down evenly (about 1/2 inch gap on one side). But whenby boxster99 - Main Forum
Took you 10 years to officially marry her? She must be a very good girl :-)by boxster99 - Main Forum
Hi folks, What symptoms should I look for to tell that I need new clutch? It is not slipping or anything right now but it is sometimes hard to shift when it is cold. I am not a mechanic nor expert on car. I am thinking about replacing my '99 35K miles clutch (and LN IMS at the same time) I assume I have a double bearing IMS? If I do, what price range would it cost me. Thanks, Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
It is end at the end of the month. Get them while they still last !! Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
Again, thank you very much for all your inputs! Another question is: should I wait until next spring after the hibernation? OR do it now while the shop is not that busy. I am about to put my baby in for a long nap. I am thinking bring it to European Performance Engineering (specialize in Porsche) in Natick, MA Any recommendation? Thanks, Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
HI folks, My 99 box is now at 35K miles and I think I need a new clutch next year. it is kind of hard to ship from first to second gear and I can feel it is slipping. I am also thinking doing the IMS at the same time with the LE engineering. Everything original even the brake :-). Only thing I changed so far were the new tires, spark plug and annual oil change. Anything else you can suggest thaby boxster99 - Main Forum
The way I see it is: if there are thousands of small claims filed by individuals versus hundred of thousands joined in one class action suite: Porsche would prefer the later. They would rather have one big team of lawyers taking on one class action suite then having thousands of lawyers handle individual cases. Regardless, we win or not, these will give them a big %*^^ headache plus bad publicitby boxster99 - Main Forum
For the record, my 99 is still running fine for me for the past 13 years (knock on wood 3 times..) About the small claim court, it is something I were thinking out loud while reading the article about the Honda Civic case. IMHO, if you think it is impossible then we might as well go back to the ancient years and live like a cage men/woman :-) All is take is a *will of one person* that doing someby boxster99 - Main Forum
Has any one taken Porsche to the small claim court about their IMS flaw? There is a victory for Honda Civic Hydrid owner on CA. I love the fact that no lawyer allows in this court!! Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
Love it!! Only if I can afford to part with my '99. Still have the same feeling as day one :-)) Tonyby boxster99 - Main Forum
