You are on the right track. The canvas part of the top can operate with only one pushrod connected, but the side that is not connected will lag behind or lurch forward (depending on which part of the cycle it's in) while closing and opening, respectively. The plastic ball cups are designed to break before any other parts as the "other parts" are made of unobtainium and cost an obscene amount toby MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
Take a look at the Part II PDF at this link: Specifically take a look at the photos at page 19 and page 31 to help you understand what you are looking for. Your plastic ball cups are probably white (not red as in the earlier Boxsters). Regards, Maurice.by MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
No need to beat yourself up...from what you describe (i.e., the clamshell still functions up and down, but the canvas part does not move) it sounds like you have caused the plastic ball cups to break apart, nothing more. Porsche only sells the plastic ball cups attached as a part of a complete front pushrod assembly (about $85 each), but there is a guy in the Netherlands who has had the ball cupby MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
If the top is difficult to latch closed, if possible, let the car sit in the sun for a few days in the fully closed position. Driving it around with the top up will have a similar effect but the surface of the top will not get as hot and thus take longer to have the same effect. That will allow the canvas to stretch and the top will become gradually easier to latch closed. If the water is not bby MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
That is very rare, indeed! It should make BRBS that much more enjoyable! Regards, Maurice.by MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
The longer the rod the further the front edge of the top on that side will end up farther forward. After you reach a certain (overall) length of the front pushrod, it will start to retract just as it reaches its final position (i.e., when the electric motor cuts off and the idiot light on the dash goes out). You can't mess anything up that would damage the top with these adjustments, and you shby MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
The length of the front pushrods ( the ones that terminate with the white plastic ball cups) control the final position of the leading edge of the canvas top as it mates up with the upper horizontal part of the windshield frame. You can make gross adjustments at the 10mm nut with fat washer or fine adjustments by screwing the plastic ball cup in or out to shorten or lengthen the pushrod. Parts cost is around $1080 plus shipping. Not sure about cost of installation as I plan to DIY. Regards, Maurice.by MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum

The most common area is at the top of the strut, where the stainless steel rod goes into the top of the housing tube. Regards, Maurice.by MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
If both reservoirs are full, it certainly looks like a leaking strut. Your third photo shows the liquid on the inboard half of the wheel well liner, and it probably ended up there after dripping onto the inside of the rim and getting flung outwards. Take a look at this link for an evaluation of the various options available in replacing your top with one with a glass window: Regards, Maurice.by MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
Thanks for the heads up. I'm still looking. Regards, Maurice.by MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
Mike: Thanks for the input. The Bridgestone RE970AS Pole Position were the other tires I was considering. They seem to have gotten slightly better reviews overall, but are more expensive and I don't know if there is enough of a difference to justify the cost.. I'll give TR a call and see if I can get some more info on the two choices. Regards, Maurice.by MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
Carlos: I don't have those skills either, but the Sumitomo HTR Z III is a "summer only" tire, "... it is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice" , according to the manufacturer. If I don't find anything acceptable, I may bite the bullet and get them because I already have 17" all season rims and tires...They just don't look as nice as my Cayman S 18" rimby MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
I'm willing to trade off some performance for not having to be concerned about driving when the temperature drops below 40 degrees and these have gotten good reviews on TireRack. Not sure about how they would be on a Boxster. Regards, Maurice.by MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
I've never dealt with autotopsdirect.com, so I can't comment on that. Every rear glass-windowed canvas replacement that is performed without changing the frame from the three-bow frame to the later four-bow frame will necessarily have somewhat more restricted access to the engine compartment. I have seen GAHH and Robbins tops with the glass windows installed and they both have more restricted aby MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
Porsche has apparently succeeded in developing a convertible top mechanism that now makes the side view of the coupe indistinguishable from the convertible with the top up. I didn't know that that goal was so important. I wonder if it's another way to distinguish it from the Boxster? Here's the link...the video is down at about the fourth set of photos from the top (after a brief commerciaby MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
JM: Have a look at a product called "Timeserts", which is similar to helicoil, but more precise. I became familiar with these during my exhaust manifold bolt surgery, and they make them in metric sizes for different applications. IIRC, Gundo pointed me to them. Here is their website: Regards, Maurice.by MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
QuoteTony in Whittier Do you mind sharing the cost? My rear window is split again. I intend to get a glass window and new canvas this time. What did you not like about the GAHH? Did you have any difficulties with the install? It looks like you removed the seats in the process. Thanks. The GAHH with the glass conversion will result in restricted access to the engine, whereas the factory ('03 anby MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
Good place to get a complete top and frame assembly, and this DIY should only take you one to two hours. Once you have finished the install, be careful to check that your latch clears the plexiglass windscreen between the roll bars. If it doesn't clear, it could end up in the wrong position when the top reaches the windshield frame and get jammed there, causing havoc and destruction to variousby MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
by removing the front wheel well liner on that side. After you have removed the wheel well liner (you can get away with just pulling away the section in front of the wheel) you can then install the headlight and hold the receptacle in place so that it plugs in properly. There is only one MAF, and it's on the driver's side. You will need a T-20 Security Torx Bit to remove the two screws that hold it in place. Regards, Maurice.by MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
No personal, first hand experience, but there is no shortage of information on Motor Meister available on numerous Porsche forums...none of it good, I'm afraid: Pretty scary, actually. Regards, Maurice.by MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum

Check the bleeder valve, where it is bolted onto the top of the expansion tank and at the silver lever on top of the assembly. Aside from the hissing, you may be able to detect some coolant residue in that area. You have to remove the thin, black plastic cosmetic cover that is over the oil fill and coolant caps to get a good look. Sometimes it is one of the two o-rings inside the bleeder valby MauriceonLongIsland - Main Forum
