I added a dab of lube to the fork indent and the plunger tip and reinstalled the slave... again, connected the fluid line and bled successfully with the pedal at the floor. When I lift the pedal and pump a few times, the pedal will not hit the floor, it stops about 1 inch from the firewall. It feels like the fork is not depressing. Since the clutch pedal will not hit the floor, the sensor will noby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Thanks Grant, I'm scratching my head too. It seems like a straight forward remove and replace. The only caveats I've seen are, "Don't press the clutch if the slave is connected, but not mounted" and "Make sure it is inserted correctly so the plunger tip is correctly contacting the fork". I removed the slave and got my cell cam in position to show the mounting hole and clutch lever (fork). (Beloby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Forgot to add: 1999 Boxster, 5 Speed, 140,000 well enjoyed miles. The part was purchased from Pelican Parts. Brand: Sachs, 1999 Porsche Boxster Convertible Part #: 8E0-721-257-M-M38by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I have noticed brake fluid loss (warning light and topped off twice), but haven’t seen any drips, and the clutch pedal is occasionally sticking half way back on the return, requiring me to pull it back with my toe. I replaced the Clutch Master Cylinder and bled the clutch, but the sticky pedal still occurred. Yesterday, I removed the slave and noticed leaking fluid, so that appears to be the prby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum

I was looking out my kitchen window this morning and spotted what looked like the Boxster Concept car. I grabbed my phone and took a rather crappy picture. Is there a kit for this? The fenders, bumper and hood are definitely not stock. and I didn't see ANY side vents, but I only caught a quick glimpse. Can anybody identify this car?by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Keeping with the Schwarzenegger theme, how about. ILLBMACby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
At ~75k, I noticed the start up puff was growing and lingering. I knew that waiting for it to fail completely would leave the car crippled, so I changed it proactively. I have been working in Chicago nearly every week since November, so the car went from a daily driver to a driveway queen for 3 months and I didn't notice any change on the few occasions I drove it. Mine chose the ginormous cloud rby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
On my 986, the door latch bolts are triple square (12 point), not Torx (6 point). I believe they are 8mm. ~$5 at most tool stores.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Hey Doug, Throw in the following and I'm 6 for 6 (better than I'm doing in my MM Pool) OMG...My car just pee'd in the parking lot and the water pump pulley shaft needs a Depends! ...and... OMG... It rained last night and now my alarm won't set, the windows won't go down and the car won't start! I paid $116.47 with free shipping, so it guess it wasn’t too bad. I didn’t take the failed AOS apart, but I assume the failure occurs at the diaphragm in the round part on top. I’m not sure if there are any other “moving parts” in the rest of the device. If that’s the case, separating the round diaphragm from the rest of the part, via a screw fitting or clamp could make the point oby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Both the outgoing and new AOS were part number 996-107-023-04-M100, so I'm assuming v.04? I replaced the original AOS in June '08.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
A recent trip to the beach resulted in the Boxster recreating a James Bond Smoke Screen Scene from Goldfinger. I knew right away the AOS I replaced at 75k, was now DOA at 135k. Fortunately there was a turn-out and I had cell service and my trusty AAA card. I had it towed to my driveway and sat tight until the new AOS I ordered from Pelican parts arrived. The good news is, my car is still runnby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Doing the job on a work bench over a few weeks was worked well, I was able to apply the adhesive to the window channels and front edge and use binder clips to hold everthing in place over night without any time restrictions.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I took it to the self serve car wash today (it's a sin to wash your car in the driveway here in California these days ) and passed the water tight test with flying colors! Here are a few more pics in the sun so the top doesn't look blue.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
This top did not have the interior liner. The defroster connector was included and connects to the plug next to the driver's side rollbar. I have't had the opportunity to try it yet.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
As a CA daily driver without a garage, the lifespan seems to be 5 - 7 years. I used Plexus and did the chop and I'm looking forward to retiring both.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Thanks Maurice! I kept seeing your name on several convertible top DIY posts. Your suggestions were very helpful!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum

Thanks, Boxsterra. I was able to confirm the switch was bad, I ordered a new one and now the top is back in action!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I decided to bite the bullet and buy an after-market glass window top for my ’99. The car has 130k miles. The original plastic window was replaced by a professional in 2004. In 2011, that window cracked, so I bought a very good condition top & frame from Trygve's Spec Racer conversion. Unfortunately, that window developed a crack at one of the seams. Since I kept the previous frame & toby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I'll take a look tonight, thanks!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
With the key on, handbrake up (dash light on), latch open, top down dash button held, poking my finger in the hook opening repeatedly, NO top motor activity. I'll pull the switch again tonight and check the continuity.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Where would I check continuity on the latch sensor? The three pins at the connector? I have a multi-meter, but I'm no E.E. Thanks in advance. Bobby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Thanks Boxsterra, I didn't catch the B6 on the fuse diagram, but it is not blown, replaced it anyway with no luck. The handbrake seems to be working fine. I bent pin 18 on the relay years ago, I supose the relay could be bad. I'll start with the latch sensor and see what happens.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Thanks Pedro, both mecahnical swithes in the latch make an audible click, but I'll order a new one and see if that resolves the problem. I found one (986-613-795-02) for $67 with free shipping.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Details: ‘99 Boxster 5-speed with 130k miles. I put the top down last weekend and after a day of driving, I could not get the top to close. I lifted and released the hand brake (hard) numerous times and used my finger to trigger the latch & unlatch sensor, but no luck. I eventually popped the push rod ball sockets off so I could do the “emergency top close”. The parking brake sensor apby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum

I know this has been written up before, but my '99 finally came down with the auto-honk annoyance. Hard stops caused an embarrassing honk of the horn.
