Happy Thanksgiving to you too Meredith! I'm still driving my '99 with 125k miles, plenty to be thankful for!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum

If I had $1M and wanted a Posche, I'd buy a new, loaded Boxster and have $900k & change in the bank!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Bruce Canepa has federalized a few of these beauties. I've stopped by their shop and they really are amazing. Bruce has a Pearl White 959 for sale now, but you have to call for the price. I know what they say, "if you have to ask...". Pearl White 959by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum

Though I've never used the term, I used to feed my '66 VW Bug a, "Dog's Breakfast" of whatever oil was at hand.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum

Much appreciated, Grant, I'll let you know in about 55,000 miles.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
'99 Base (like there is any other )I bought the oil, then realized you needed a 16mm Triple Square bit. How many times will I use that $37 albatross? Alden changed the gear oil with my fluid for $20 at a car care day at his shop in Campbel. Win-win.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Is Chuck's K45-286 still on the road? I hope so.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I was able to have mine changed at 90k at a local car care day at Flintworks (local indy). I bought the fluid, but wasn't keen on buying the ~$40 socket required that I would likely never use again. I try to DIY whenever possible but decided gear oil change is a job better left to Alden.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I spend a lot of time in Charlotte, and would have waved, but it wasn't me. I keep pointing out new 981s to my wife here in CA. One of these days we'll have to pull the trigger, until then, I'll keep adding to the 125k miles.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Only in this parking lot, she's now 24 and has never driven the Boxster solo. Yes, it would be brave indeed, I'm not that brave. However, IMHO, every driver should learn to drive a stick, not necessarily be an expert, but learn the process. No different from learning to check air pressure and oil & water levels.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
When behind the "Elephant Doors" at convention centers it's a different world. The F-word is used as nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, conjunctions, prepositions, articles and interjections.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Great pics, especially your daughter sound asleep. Our daughter was 12 when we bought our Boxster. She really enjoyed learning to drive it at 16.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
A friend of mine was the GM for a large Trade Show facilitator and I used to help him out with some IT stuff at Moscone Center in SF. Fire regulations require the disconnection of all car batteries when on the convention floor. When the show ends, you have a very small window to clear your area before Teamsters start clearing the floor. It wasn't an Auto Show, but one of the presenters had a BMWby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
My wife was right with you until the spider. Looks like a good time was had by all!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I like the fogs when driving on rural roads for the peripheral light. The switch on my '99 allows 1 click to turn on the fogs and 2 clicks to add the rear taillight for true foggy conditions.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
As my car nears 125k, I start thinking about those, "you'll only have to fix this once DIYs", AOS, Water Pump, coolant tank, etc., and wonder when they will come back for round two. That's the price we pay when drive the snot out of 'em. Good luck, Doug!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I don't know what it is, but it would look much better with a Mushroom Cloud on it!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
The crankshaft position sensor was probably my most frustrating Boxster problem. I'd drive to the store and it wouldn't start when I got out. I'd wait 30 minutes and it would fire right up. It got to the point where I'd be driving on the highway at 65 mph and the engine dies. Flat bedded the car home and it started right up. Thanks to the diagnostic help here (or perhaps PPB and other forums, iby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
We have SUVs sporting CHP logos here. The usually target big rigs, checking tires, brakes and load limits etc. As long as they carry a ticket book, I'm sure they're happy to issue one if they see a passenger vehicle misbehaving.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Congrats on 15 years of fun, many more to come!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I'm sure I'll be doing the CV Joints some day. All four show no visual sign of failure. All 6 plugs all came out light caramel brown with no sign of fouling, also, no plastic or metal debris in the used oil. For some reason, the car just feels happier with a fresh fill of oil.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Mark, thanks for the suggestions, it is easy to omit items based on the assumption they are "new-ish". I think the next project (no due date) would be some suspension item replacements. 120k miles, mostly on the highway 101 Peninsula will take its toll on any suspension.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
The Beru plugs arrived from Pelican Parts, along with the OEM Pollen, Air and Oil Filter and a Liter of ATE Brake fluid - regular, redish-brown I think. I used the Blue for my last flush & clutch bleed. Motive Power Bleeder has been a great investment! Wal*Mart has Mobil 1 at $22.97 for the 5qt jugs. My local store has 0W-40 but I have been using the 10W-40 High Mileage for the last severaby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
