are toyo R1R tires from 2015/2016 considered R comp tires? (These tires came with the rims I bought are in good condition, lots of tread left)by Petee_C - Main Forum
I hope to graduate to stickier tires soon for the track, and I've been told by a couple people to look at baffles for my oil pan to prevent oil starvation on high G corners... Looking for links or product suggestions, or DIY options.... Thanks, Peter '01 Boxster Sby Petee_C - Main Forum
fold the seats down, 2.25 wheels with tires in the trunk 1.75 wheels in the backseat area... lots of room. Is it possible to host pics at PBB yet?by Petee_C - Main Forum

But, for the apparently very few (tongue firmly in cheek) who spend most of their Porsche driving time NOT on a track, the speed of PDK shifts is of no consequence. Sorry, I'm not using them in the Jetta, I'm going to pick them up in the Jetta... Hopefully they fit in the back seat and trunk to take home.by Petee_C - Main Forum
Going to purchase a set of 4 rims and tires (toyo R1R's) to use at the track. They are 18" wheels from a mid 2000's Cayman. I've only got my Jetta tonight... I am thinking they will fit. The seller is 2 hrs away, but we've made plans to meet halfway. Anyone else have experiences shoehorning 4 wheels and tires in the back of a sedan (the rear seats fold down, and I think that will help a bit..by Petee_C - Main Forum
I put in a Kenwood HU a couple years (3-5 yrs?)ago. Definitely before car play and android auto. Mine is a single din. Would car play and android auto require double din? I just discovered spotify and bt it to my HU.by Petee_C - Main Forum
How about a teflon dry lube spray? I've also got some of that.by Petee_C - Main Forum
2 weeks in, and I've noticed a plastic on plastic squeek when turning the steering wheel. (squeek is coming from somewhere in the steering column)... It's been getting warm lately, so maybe the plastic's expanding? A quick shot of wd40 behind the wheel?by Petee_C - Main Forum
if you are doing new construction, make sure your slab is at least 4" under where the posts go for the anchors to seat properly. My 30 yr old garage had just under 4" of concrete where I put my lift, and I had to cut out 2 footings and pour new concrete for the lift. Each post now has a 3'x4'x 12" deep footing under wear they sit. The footing is keyed into the existing slab. It's been workiby Petee_C - Main Forum
Got one at whale tail in Waterloo... Used... Works perfect, cleaned up nice.by Petee_C - Main Forum
Is it a bad idea to get a used one? I'm think so, as it seems like it's not a very robust part. Anyone try an aftermarket stalk assembly? Rock auto and others? Mine has been a bit wonky for a while, but it broke today at a trackday I was at. Signaling my whole group to pass me in the 1st few sessions... Humbling being slowest in your group. No, I'm still thinking it's the new tranny fluid leading to improvement in shift feel... The clutch being hydraulic, shouldn't be affected much by whether the fluid is new or not,,, it's still not compressible at the temperatures/pressures it sees. I did not bleed the clutch. (I have changed brake fluid before with no difference in shift or transmission feel)by Petee_C - Main Forum
Thx. Yeah, I have a Dasani water bottle with a piece of wire taped to the side for a hanger as my catch bottle. Graduations are probably a good idea. Since I drain most of the old fluid from the reservoir, I'll aim for 150mL from the outer nipple, 50mL from the inner nipple on each caliper. That way I should have enough to do the full brakes with 1 new bottle next time.by Petee_C - Main Forum
In prep for my trackday, I flushed out the brake fluid in my Boxster S early this week ( it was over due anyways.) I had trouble getting it done with 1L of fluid, or it's hard to tell when the old fluid transitions to new fluid at the bleeder. Without dye options available, it's hard to judge between almost clear of new to the light amber of old. I was able to empty 90% of the reservoir atby Petee_C - Main Forum
I decided to change the gear oil on my 2001 Box S that has almost 140,000km on the odometer. I bought the vehicle used from Rizza Porsche in Chicago back in June 2009. It had just under 70,000km when I purchased it. Anyways, never completely happy with the shifting in the Boxster S. I tried the Pedro Enthusiast mount shortly after I purchased the vehicle, and it's still in there all these yeby Petee_C - Main Forum
update - I've had rear pads on my daily driver 06 Jetta for about 18 months and 55,000km... Decided to replace them as they had about 5mm of pad left on each pad, I was also getting a cold squawk on initial application of the brakes at the 1st 2 stop signs on my morning commute... sometimes also on my afternoon commute as well. at 5mm, the pads had about 30% left. Ideally I could have probablby Petee_C - Main Forum
The clips that hold my windscreen in place are a bit worn, I have used piece of weatherstripping in the past to keep the rattle down... However, the weather stripping compresses over time and the windstop starts rattling again... This is more noticeable when driving with the top up. (Moreso now as we head into fall. Anyone try hotglue to stop the rattle? A couple small dabs or lines along tby Petee_C - Main Forum
I got almost 40K km (25K miles) out of my old v12 evos.... Maybe I am being too frugal... My left tires still look better than my right tires.... I'll see if I can get an alignment somewhere... Everyone else getting even tire wear through the life of the tire? I'm driving a '01 S.by Petee_C - Main Forum
Maybe... I got an alignment 1 set of tires ago.... I read on the internet that the Right side gets more wear in North America because L turns are generally faster... dunno... The wear on my left tires were more even than the right side for sure....by Petee_C - Main Forum
they would need to be removed from the rims and remounted.... costly, but might be worth it if it saves on tirewear, or scalloping... I know there are probably a lot of reasons for road tire noise, scalloping is only one of them... Hope to get 3+ good seasons (late March to end of October) out of these tires....by Petee_C - Main Forum
Got 4 new tires to replace some Hankook v12 evos... I was bummed that the online places I used couldn't get the v12's in in my 18" sizes. My Right Rear was pretty worn on the inside shoulder, I was going to be on cords soon right at the edge of the inside shoulder. The fronts were 9 yrs old, and have been on the car since I got it in 2009. All tires had a bit of cupping on the inside shouldeby Petee_C - Main Forum

is the car running poorly? I don't know pcodes off by heart, but a former poster/former neigbor here (I think his handle was Alcantera) had misc pcodes linked to fuel/air mixtures... I am going by foggy memory here, but I think he *may* have had a lumpy idle as well.... Turns out, there is a gasket by the air filter box that was loose, once it was back in place, all was well... We decided to take the Jetta. She is 10 yrs old and seems now to get nervous travelling. Never happened when she was younger... It would probably be too much to be in the passenger seat of the boxster. She did fine in the Jetta, normally she gets half the hatch of our q7. Peterby Petee_C - Main Forum
Anyone regularly travel with a dog as a passenger in your boxster? Any tips? We have a 50lb golden doodle that I need to bring home from the cottage next weekend. Wondering if she will be a decent passenger in the front passenger seat of the boxster. 3hr trip. I might end up taking the jetta and having her use the back seat.by Petee_C - Main Forum
