Give me a few days to settle in & if you care to we can meet up for a drive. Regards, Edby Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
No more snow shoveling for me & I get to use the Boxster year round! Needless to say the move comes with a few questions: Need a good indie service person - any suggestions to tint or not to tint - and if so, what % and do you do both the side and rear windows? any "cars and coffee" type get togethers? do I have to change my screen name? ;-) TIA, Edby Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
Originally got them for my 2001 - they now adorn my 05, Still look great. You were able to get them customized with Boxster S graphics for a few $ more. Edby Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
There's nothing in the owner's manual about routine maintenance for the AC unit - anyone know if there's a recommendation about checking the refrigerant level, or replacing after "X" years? Thanks, Edby Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
I can't afford it!by Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
That was fun - wonder why they don't give you the price as configured? Edby Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
I remember the "good old days" where anyone who even suggested to put their Boxster through a car wash would have been "flamed" to death on the Board! Oh well, guess I'm living in the past. Regards, Edby Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
What are the odds that they'll make a Boxster version? My guess is no (unfortunately ) Edby Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
Too bad it's not open to the public! https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=gy7ndSApr84by Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
For those of you who don't know Captree is a State Park on the eastern end of Jones Beach Island (NY) where every Sunday morning during the Fall/Winter Long Island holds its version of cars & coffee. I won't bore you with pictures of all the Porsches that were there (quite a few Turbo's) but I thought I'd share some other marques I enjoyed seeing. Probably could have gone a bit more, but I noticed it wasn't holding a charge when put on the CTEK battery charger. Moll definitely makes a good product, but I went with a Bosh Platinum AGM as its replacement - we'll see how long it lasts. Edby Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
Hi Guys, It's been a while since I posted & I need some advice. My car's now 9 years old (time flies!) with 41,000 miles. I've always followed the "wisdom" of doing the routine maintenance items based on mileage (oil changed every 5K miles and brake fluid +/- every two years) versus time so I'll be doing the "major maintenance" items for 40K miles - way past the four & eight year poiby Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
he stitched up the damaged area, including replacing some of the vinyl - looks so much better than my attempted tape fix! Edby Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
Maybe I'll just throw a tarp over it and not drive in the rain! I appreciate all of your suggestions, but the sewing idea is way beyond my capabilities. What I need is a tape with high elasticity that will adhere to both the vinyl and cloth. Google, here I come! Edby Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
Mark, I did - their "solution" was to replace the top for $750! Which was what led me to explore alternatives Edby Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
Fortunately not the Boxster! My 1993 Toyota Celica's rear plastic window has separated from the top and I want to tape it in place - looking for an inexpensive fix. So far I've tried Duct Tape and Gorilla Tape and neither has stood up to the rain or the up/down movement of the top. I no longer put the top down to try to get the "fix" to last longer. Any suggestions would be appreciated (shorby Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
Took delivery at the Factory - they said once the car was warmed up not to worry and I didn't. But you should do whatever you're comfortable with. Enjoy, Edby Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
just don't brake! Hope all is well. One of these days we've got to get the "gang" together for a drive. Regards, Edby Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
Anyone have any idea why my 05 isn't listed as being covered? Fortunately, I haven't had (and hope not to) had an issue, just wondering why some cars within a model year are excluded? Edby Ed fromTampa ( formerly Long Island) - Main Forum
Given the Feds average mpg standards for the manufacturer's entire product line the "exotic" niche players are scampering to meet them.. They don't have the econobox cars with high mpg to offset their performance cars. At least the turbo 4 has enough power & torque to keep most people happy. One advantage of a trade-in (perhaps the only) is that you only pay State tax (at least in NY) on the difference between the sales price of the new purchase and the trade-in value of your car. Using rough #'s if the Cayenne costs $90k and you get $25k on the trade-in you'd pay tax on only $65K - could save you a bit of $ to offset the lower price the Dealer offers on your trade.
