Your car looks great, Roger. BTW, I think 17" wheels make great sense for highway driving, especially if you don't have PASM, which gives you a softer ride in the standard setting. My only beef with Porsche 17" rims is that they had tended to be narrow on the 987 series (down to 6.5" widths vs. 7" widths on the 986) which limits what sizes and brands/types of tires you could put on the car.by MikenOH - Main Forum

QuoteBobtesa I thought their prices were very reasonable. I don't want to give out prices, that might not be fair to them, but give them a call or email. I found email worked very well with Taylor. I asked for a price for the oil change before committing and he provided the price, so ask him. btw, I wrote to Taylor about the 2 IMS issues that I thought he had wrong. Bob: Interesting info. So, for all us 2006-08 Boxster owners, we can have the IMS removed without pulling the engine and splitting the cases? That's good news, for sure, but I'd like to get some details on how they get that bearing out if the OD is larger than the opening in the case. Could you check with them on the details?by MikenOH - Main Forum

Quotedb997S Gee, too bad the author didn't let his views be known about his feelings between PDK and manual cars. Yeah, he's definitely in the manual tranny camp. I can see both sides of this:the manual is more involving, while the PDK will probably make the driver faster on the track--F1 cars, IIRC,have used semi-auto transmissions for quite a while--while still providing a car that can be driby MikenOH - Main Forum

I've been using the Chase cam mount for a few years mounted atop the roll bar with a Canon camera about the size of your Nikon. I put some foam around the mount to protect the bar and then use the metal straps that came with it to secure it around the roll bar--a very solid mount that passes tech. Good point, Bob. With the Cayenne, Panamerica and 911 representing the vast majority of cars sold in NA ( and with the 911 and Pana stickers well north of what Boxsters sell for), $300+ oil changes would seem to many owners as just part of the ownership cost of a high-end automobile. Having said that, given the higher prices that some dealers charge for the oil changes, I would think those thby MikenOH - Main Forum

Laz: Thanks for the reply. TR is typically the first place I start looking for the reviews--and there are a lot of reviews on various brands of UHP A/S tires. I was just hoping there were a few people on this board that have used this type of tire on their Boxster, since I think I want to move in that direction on our Boxster in the future.by MikenOH - Main Forum
In a month or so I'm planning on dumping the RFT's on an E90 BMW and am thinking about going with a UHP A/S, as a tire that can run 9-10 months out of the year in these parts. The goal is to get better performance and ride quality compared to RFT. I've got Blizzaks for the really bad stuff on another set of rims. Obviously there are compromises in rubber compounds and tread designs in these tireby MikenOH - Main Forum

Makes sense; I know a lot of guys spend time right after their runs going through the data to check their split times and the like, but you are right, if the video has enough resolution, you can see where the gauge is pointing without wading through computer screens. And a very persuasive witness at that; Fred Gwynne looks enthralled. If these cases were ever to go to trial, as a plaintiff, I'd want Jake and his bearing expert to testify on the engineering side of the issue and as a defendant, I'd have some technical expert from Porsche (and the the bearing maker) along with video deps from Marc and others that have turned 100K + miles with this engine, doiby MikenOH - Main Forum
