I have got the LN bearing in my 2005 S . Do I need to put the DOF on as an extra precaution?. I just spent 14,000 on a new engine and I think the cost of a DOF makes sense for eliminating the risk of another ims failure. Any comments would be appreciated.by getready - Main Forum

Sometimes when I start up my 2005 S after its sitting for a few days I get a puff of smoke out the tail pie and then it goes away quickly. Is that normal?by getready - Main Forum

Could be the switch itself or the locking switch on the top release lever, might also be the control box under the seat. Do the windows work the way they normally do? If not then its likely the control box under the seat.Check to see if there has been any water on the floor under the seat, that will cause electrical problems with the windows and the top. When my day running lights are on and I use the signal light my cluster lights go out.The cluster lights then come back on a few seconds after the signal turn lever is back to the nutural position. The same thing happens if I use the four way emergency flashers. When I turn on the full lighting system though every thing is normal. I just had my 05 s engine totally rebuilt with a doner block from the same year with an upgraded IMS and some other upgrades added which gave me some more horses....... much more power in the top end at lower RPMs. I would recommend the ladds at DC Auto in Rocky Mount NC to any one. Great service at a resonable cost.....$!4,000 in and out the door,for a better engine than the original. Hey! thesby getready - Main Forum

Any one know of a link showing how to install the rods for the soft top, transmission to soft top. Just don't know what position the rear body flap needs to be in to hook the rods back up to the soft top..........or does it matter?by getready - Main Forum

Totally brand new rebuilt long block, new LN IMS bearing, racing car oil delivery system and larger air intake. I have about 30 more horse power and the rpm is lower on the top end. The engine runs cooler and gets better gas mileage.by getready - Main Forum

Took my car to North Carolina to DC Auto. They did a fantastic job on building a new motor for my 05 S which blew an IMS in 2009. Lots of up grades and more horses.I highly recommend those guys in Rocky Mount to anyone considering anything to do with engine rebuilds or just upgrades. Feels good to drive again! Thanks, I'll check that out. First thing though I need to replace the up down switch beside the hand brake..... its definetly toast. Maybe that is all thats wrong. Has anyone replaced it before, if so what's the best way to get it out?by getready - Main Forum

Code comes up as "convertable top contrl failure" , windows still come down after the latch is released but when the switch is engaged .......nothing happends???? Fuse is OK, so whats next? Is there a way of checking the moduale under the drivers seat and if so is there a detailed instrucion to take out the seat? Any help would be appreciated.by getready - Main Forum

Could be early warning of IMS bearing failure. If thats the case change it with the upgraded Raby bearing before you lose your whole engine. Good Luck Richby getready - Main Forum

We live in the country and have lots of mice, chipmunks etc.......I put high frequency rodent devices right in the trunk and one in the interior when I put the Boxster to bed in the garage.......they really work good, never had a problem yet. About 30 bucks at Canadian Tire.by getready - Main Forum

I 'm thinking on buying a 2005..... 911, 3.6L engine to put in my 05 boxster s. Has anyone done this and if so was it a smooth transition? It's a OEM rebuild with 8,000 miles on it with an upgraded IMS. I was told that the only thing is that it will need is to reprogram the computer to run on the 3.6 program. Has anyone had any dealings with Motor Mieister in CA. They say that if you didn't drive your car without losing all your oil during an IMS failure that the engine is still fixable.They claim that they can tear down the whole engine check every part, put in a new ceramic bearing, replace any damaged parts if required and away you go. Thanks for the info........I did file with them last year....... also wrote letters to Porsche head office in Germany, USA and Canada.Was also on a local CTV station to plead my situation on consumer reports slot. Porsche on all three counts passed the buck one to the other.by getready - Main Forum
