Ocean blue, a dark blue is a factor I am sure. Plus, there is the Zaino factor, how many coats, etc. Then the bug-splat factor... I am sure that the amount of splats, how big they are, how thick, and what species... With all of this data, I think..... Did you run your stereo? I suspect I may have had higher temps in the front due to my constant playing of my system. Since the amp is a heat source, there is no in and outflow of air, the temp may rise. Of course the chassis will absorb heat but if the amp can insert it faster than the chassis can dissipate it, then temps will rise. I am really surprised your front temps were only a few degby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

My 2000 S just hit 180K miles (130K on the engine) and I am taking it to my indie for an oil change etc. I want to tell him what oil to use and it got me thinking. Didn't Porsche change its oil recommendations for my car? Why? By the way, I tried the 0 weight Mobil 1 for a bunch of years as I think that is the newer recommendation and I get oil drips. On the last two, I told my indie to putby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

I filed two claims for fender benders on my Porsche and now with my wife on my policy, filed a $15,000 claim on her Lexus. My rates never changed. I have no problem filing.... you or me are not guilty of anything, this is how the system works. Again, they predicted my accidents before I had them.by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Call your agent and ask him/her. Then call their competition and get a rate quote. Then decide. Coupla items: 1 - Car insurance is highly competitive right now and if they do raise your rates, just shop elsewhere and you have a good chance of lowering you payments from what they are now. 2 - This fear of raised rates is an industry scam that the industry has colluded on for years. The "good" shop is Karosserie: I met the owner a few years ago and he told me how he got his start many years ago. Apparently he was asked by an acquaintance who worked for the American importer of Ferrari that American customers were rejecting their cars due to lousy paint and asked him to repaint them. I don't know how long ago that was (30 years ago?) but Ferrari hasn't improved the painby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Just back from dropping my 2000 Boxster S at a shop for a front bumper replacement. What I learned was that different shops do very different work - quality and effort. That may seem obvious but it really is true. A quick background story: The Lexus/Honda owned shop I took my wife's IS250 to last year did a gawd-awful job. They are a "high production" shop and just did a crappy job. Tookby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Although I didn't have to "cut up" the Yakima racks, they just bolted on no problem. The removal of the bumperetts and then drilling the two holes each was very easy.. really no big deal. You do have to cut a small chunk out of each bumperette so if you decide to remove the receivers, you will have "damaged" the rubber. I figured should it come to that, assuming someone would see the little miby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I can't believe I still have this crap on hand. You really should go to his website or contact him directly. From some document I found but honestly I don't understand it. I can't even remember if I only purchased the receivers and frame from him, and then purchased the Yakima stuff from REI (which is what I think I did): Porsche Boxster (’97-’04) and 911 (’99-’04) Hitch/Bike Carrier/by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

If my memory serves me (and it isn't doing that too well lately) I had an overly rich mixture that was caused by a faulty o2 sensor. Shouldn't you get the sensors corrected as they feed data back to the computer to then change mixture?by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

The estimate is just over $1,600 and includes a new bumper and that fish-lip trim. He has no deductible so no out of pocket expenses for either of us. Odd though, the insurer requires the shop to attempt to source a used bumper and requires the estimator to document calls to three dismantles. Then it goes to the insurance company computers and they do some sort of search for a used part. I caby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

If you know anyone in the venture capital business, they will tell you there are gizzilions of dollars sitting on the sidelines waiting to be invested in innovation. Did you ever wonder why there are not tons of money pouring into developing alternatives to the gas engine? Because the Arabs will simply lower their price for a barrel and choke off any alternative. His insurance is Ohio Casualty and they want me to go to one of three shops in the area for an estimate. After the estimate, I can get that shop to do the work, or take the estimate to another shop as long as that shop meets the estimate price (or i guess I pay the difference). They gave me three shops near me, and does anyone have any experience with them?: - Pro Team Collision in King of Pruby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
My buddy called and apparently there is no deductible when applied to my car so no worries, a new bumper and done right is on order. On another subject, I could have prevented this by starting my car and putting the lights on as soon as I got into the car. Instead I was futzing with storing my camera, installing my radar detector, mounting my cell phone, etc. etc. and took a long time. Technby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Buddy of mine backed into my 2000 S last night.... not a big deal but the receiver on his SUV punched a hole in my front bumper. Since he is a friend, I want to do this on the cheap - he has a $1,000 deductible but we have no idea if this applies to my car etc.... he has a vmail into his agent now. So I want to do this on the cheap for him. Questions: 1 - Source for a bumper? Pelican Parts hby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I too have been taking my car to a good indy.... they guy was the shop foreman at a Porsche dealer for ... who knows... 15 years? Now he has his own shop so for me, I didn't think anything of it to go to this indy. But, wouldn't a dealer have more knowledge or access to more information about an older car? No?by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
There are two service guys here at Don Rosen Porsche so the other one may have a different story, but apparently, my 2000S at 178K miles is a bit of a record for them. (Actually about 130K on this engine.) I don't quite know how I feel about this....... Anyway, it is what it is and it gives me encouragement to hear others with high mileage cars are on this board. Pedro, thanx for the encouragement. Easy as pie. Actually pretty surprising how easy. Apparently, as Marc W noted, Porsche doesn't use the anti-squeal backing pad anymore as the old pads came right out and the new ones didn't have the pad. This kind of worried me as some had said, a long time ago, that you have to pull the calipers off. Can I go to an auto parts store and get the same OEM stuff or should I go to the dealer? I am about to replace the rear pads on my 2000 S as my dash light is on. I never did this before and read Pedro's nice writeup but..... I understand my S has anti-squeal something or other and require an additional procedure that includes removing the calipers. Is this true and where can I get the additional instructions? I also wonder if my mechanic replaced the pads with the anti-squeal typeby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

He started it up this morning and it ran fine. Codes said misfire on 6. Since I will be up for a plug change in 3.5K miles, he recommended changing all 6 plugs and coils. I should have the car back tomorrow at 2:00.by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I restarted the car about 10 mnts after I got the shudder and light.... it shuddered and the light flashed with that restart. Tonight it seemed fine as I pulled it around for the flatbed. Great. It better light tomorrow at the repair shop. I will post what it is hopefully tomorrow. My mechanic is pretty sure it is a coil.
