Hi Marc, Just a curious question and looking for some rumination on high mileage. I now have 185K on my 2000s chassis with about 140K on this "new" engine. It looks like I am starting to wear out my second set of front end suspension parts as I am getting a bit of vibration at high speeds with both my summer and winter wheels.... replaced engine mount, ignition coils and water pump a few monthby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I always believed they operate both companies in a portfolio fashion with car lines compliementing each other etc. like the GM family of car companies. Maybe they want to merge to prevent another Wiedeking personality from being involved.by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

I reported a few days ago that I discovered that my car was covered with a fine mist of something that made the upper surfaces like fine sandpaper. Well, after I calmed down, I realized that is may have been over spray from a new bumper I had put on three months ago. My buddy backed into me and I got a new front bumper courtesy of his insurance. Well after posting here, I went back out to inspby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I just went to wash and prep my finish for the winter and my car was sprayed (?) with a fine acid or clear paint. I can't believe it. I hadn't washed the car in about two months and today, I put on my winter snow tires and washed the car with Dawn to prep for a coat of Zaino followed by Mother's carnauba. The entire car's finish is like fine sandpaper!! Running a towel over it makes a "sss"by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
This from my friend who has now owned three of them. Even winning one, I would sell it ASAP. They are just not worth it. True story: I had to have my 2000 S towed a few years back and while I was chatting with the tow truck driver, I mentioned my Ferrari friend. He said, "Oh I know XXXX, I tow all his cars!". True story, and he was referring to his many many tows of his Ferraris over the yeby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
I noted this story already here when I posted my heater core story.... That maple syrup smell was pretty evident in my car for a long long time (no affect on heating system performance by the way), maybe well over two winters. This smell was misdiagnosed by many genuinely knowledgeable people. Two very senior mechanics thought it was the AC refrigerant - it does need a charge every year and aby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

Back in the day, under warranty, the dealer replaced my 2000S strut bearings and did an alignment all courtesy. Apparently there was some sort of TSB out on them but was classified something like "if you like your customer, then replace gratis". I kinda figured they improved the design but did not. The creaking came back after a few years. I have since had them replaced a few years ago whenby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

This same issue is around airplane wings. Some call the things that pop up during landing as air brakes. They are not. They are spoilers and they spoil lift. Notice when the airliner touches down... as soon as the wheels touch, the spoilers pop up thus killing lift and transitioning the airliner from flying to rolling. My Porsche indie responded to an email I sent to him asking what he recommends for lubrication of my top mechanism. His response was HS2000 and he said it gels as it drys. The product description says the following: "The solvent in Würth HHS 2000 evaporates as it is sprayed resulting in an immediate strong adherence of the lubricant onto metal. The other day, while putting the top up, I heard what sounded like friction noises and they sounded like they would be coming from the sliding rails but I am not sure. So, I think I want to lubricate the top mechanism. How do I do that and what lubricant do I use? Obviously I can see the joints and sliding rails so what do I use? They probably will get these already, but what the hey... 1 - What type of tire dressings are good or bad for tires? 2 - What is the value of nitrogen 3 - Is there any preparation for storing tires that are mounted on a car for the winter? 4 - I swap winter/summer tires and wheels. Is there any I should do or not do for off-car seasonal storage? 5 - What should I do if I have a high speed vibraby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Last year, I had my springs, shocks and a few of the supporting bits replaced. I did this because one of the springs in the front actually broke. Given that I had so many miles on my car, well one thing led to another, and I replaced all four shocks and springs. My independent, who used to be a shop foreman at a Porsche dealer, noted that there is a commonly known Bilstein replacement shock thby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
See link below. I can add just a bit on this.. back in 2001 or so, I wanted to upgrade my suspension on my 2000S to the ROW suspension that supposedly lowered the car profile a bit - I decided against it. There were tons of information out there and given my very picky analysis, all said some things that were a bit different. So, when I was in Berlin, I went into the local Porsche dealer andby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Man was I pissed. I am sitting there talking to my buddy who is outside leaning on the car, and I am thinking the car is misfiring. I look at the RPM needle and it is steady. I gun the engine and it smooths out a bit... RPMs drop and the misfiring continues.... then stops. Had no clue it was an earthquake. Only thing going through my mind was "what's this going to cost?".by Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum

No coolant light, wipers work, no problems. Coupla tips should anyone find this in the archives: - I purchased an OEM exchanger but not an official Porsche part. It was exactly the same except it didn't have the foam seal at the top. The old one lifted right off and went on the new one no problem. - Mark the wiper position with a sharpie. No biggie, but it helps. - I primed the new exchangerby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
Well Pedro, you've created a monster. First I replace my rear pads with your on-line help. Now it's a heat exchanger. I pulled everything apart no problem. Darned easy actually although I haven't got it back together yet. I am having Pelican Parts overnight me an exchanger and I will put it back together tomorrow. I found but now lost, a link to a site that showed you how to replace the A/C Heat Exchanger. Does anyone know the link? I just can't find the darn thing. 2000 S Why I want it: I have had it with smelling maple syrup for two years now so I want to pull this thing and see if it is leaking. I always put about 4 pounds more in the front than spec'd. This dials out the understeer. I will give it a try..... rain this weekend so may take a few days. I have a strange neural disfunction in that I can't remember absolute numbers - really it runs in my dad's side of the family - so I can not for the life of me remember what my tire spec is. I just got back from my Indie for an oil change, and got some advice on a vibration in my front end and wanted to run it by you folks here for input. Since I got my new Michelin summer tires early last Spring, I had a vibration in my front end that start at over say 50 mph that smooths out around 95 MPH. My 2000 S has now 180K miles and I live outside of Philadelphia that, while not the Great White North, does use salt and brine on its roads in the winter. I do drive my car all year 'round swapping summer with winter tires so my car may be a good indicator on the corrosion resistance of these cars. The verdict? Well I am pretty darn amazed. The only damage from corrosion that I can directly aby Bruce In Philly (2000 S Boxster, now '09 C2S) - Main Forum
