If I read the thread correctly, the Battery warning light came on and it turned out to be a broken water pump?by boxsterd - Main Forum
I'm now thinking it's the alternator or charging system. When I got home I read the Check Engine code and it was P0562 indicating low voltage. I'l have it towed to the dealer Monday.by boxsterd - Main Forum
The red battery light on the dash came on this afternoon. According to the owner's manual the drive belt or battery charging system is broken. I barely made it back home (around 10 miles from when the light came on). The AC stopped working, the lights on console got dim, windows were very slow to go down, etc...all the things you would expect from a dead battery. The car also got very SLUGGISH inby boxsterd - Main Forum
Congratulations! Beautiful color. How do you like that PASM? Do you mostly drive with it off or on? How much of a difference does it make off or on?by boxsterd - Main Forum
I have replaced the brake switch and both the PSM and ABS warning lights still come on occasionally. It always happens when I'm cruising on the freeway with my foot on the gas. I'm not even touching the brakes. Last time it happened when I got home I hooked up the OBD and there were no codes. Any ideas what the problem is and what I can do to fix it? TIA.by boxsterd - Main Forum
I'm not sure I would call it dumb but I prefer having the dipstick. The reason is the electronic oil level has a specific limit in its range. For example, if you "overfill" the oil, it can't tell you just how bad it is, whereas with a dipstick you get a better sense of the "overfill". In that sense the dipstick gives you more information. I've checked the dipstick after seeing all the bars lit anby boxsterd - Main Forum
110k miles. I checked the coolant cap and didn't see any white residue. Is there a cheap coolant mixture I can buy at Kragen or must I use the Porsche coolant? TIA.by boxsterd - Main Forum
I think I have a slow coolant leak. I've had to top off the coolant after the red warning light came on the last 2 months. Anyone know what the problem might be and if it's a DIY project for someone who can at most change the oil and filter? Must I use Porsche branded coolant or is there something I can buy at Kragen? I have a 2001. I know the radio code. So if I replace the battery the only thing I need to "reprogram" is the radio code?by boxsterd - Main Forum
Yeah, dealer said something about the computer will need to be reprogrammed after the battery is disconnected. False?by boxsterd - Main Forum
Is it possible to replace the battery with a source of power connected to the cables, to provide constant power, so that reprogramming the computer isn't necessary? Has anyone tried using AAA battery replacement service? TIAby boxsterd - Main Forum
Do I need a blank or can I just buy the head and slip it over the key? TIAby boxsterd - Main Forum
I need to get a new key head for my '01. By that I mean the plastic head with the buttons for opening the doors. Dealer wants $350 for the part and $95 for programming. Seems kind of high. Thoughts? Anyone know of a more reasonable dealer in the SF bay area? TIA.by boxsterd - Main Forum
I had the exact same problem and after doing some research on the internet I had the brake pedal light switch replaced (part cost about $15). The problem has mostly gone away, from happening every time I drove the car, to now about every 10 times... I guess the next thing to do is replacing the battery, which it's about time to replace any way.by boxsterd - Main Forum
What kind of grease gun is that? What kind of grease did you use? Do you have to take the wheel off?by boxsterd - Main Forum
Thanks I'm going to try replacing that part to start.by boxsterd - Main Forum
I'm surprised with all the mileage you've never had to replace any suspension parts like control arms or shocks, etc? Also never replaced the engine mount? Did I miss something?by boxsterd - Main Forum
This has happened twice in the last week. Both the PSM OFF and ABS warning lights have come on while driving. Next time I start the car the lights are off. Any ideas what's going? Anything I can do? Is this something to get fixed at the dealer? TIA.by boxsterd - Main Forum
That's the list I was asking for...just general major stuff. I'm particularly interested in these two items: I've replaced the suspension from M030 to PSS9, all of the associated control arms, trailing arms, drop links, etc. Anything that has a ball joint has been replaced at least once I've got 106k miles on my '01 and the suspension is "creaky", which I guess is normal for this mileage? I'd lby boxsterd - Main Forum
I had the squeak on the rear driver's side. I followed the instructions in that video (I used a higher quality lube) and the squeak never went away. Any know around how much it would cost to have the part replaced at the dealers?by boxsterd - Main Forum
Amazing! Any chance you could post your maintenance history including the mileage when the part was replaced?by boxsterd - Main Forum

How do these compare with the LN Engineering bearings?by boxsterd - Main Forum
I do hear some faint clunking going over rough roads but i believe that's due to the suspension/control arms? Besides that I don't have any other symptoms you list. Is this the part you're talking about:by boxsterd - Main Forum
Hmmm.....my 2001 has about 105k miles on it and the engine mount has never been replaced. What are the symptoms of a worn engine mount? how much does it cost to replace?by boxsterd - Main Forum
