Thanks everyone for your great responses. I live in CA. My deductible is $500. Below is a pic of the dent. I'm thinking of just offering the guy $500 cash and if he wants more let my insurance take care of it. Edit: the car is a late model Toyota pick-up.by boxsterd - Main Forum
My wife got into a "fender bender" yesterday where a small dent was left on the other person's car. I'm guessing $1,000 - $1500 for repairs. Does anyone have an opinion on whether to have insurance pay for it and have my monthly payment go up, or offer the guy $1,000?by boxsterd - Main Forum
Here's a pic of the plug and radio next to it. Do you still think I won't need to remove the radio?by boxsterd - Main Forum
I like the concept of taking an older discontinued model and bringing it up to modern standards while keeping the same look. The best would be the 993.by boxsterd - Main Forum
Based on what I could tell, that would involve removing the CDR-220, correct? If that's true I'm taking it to the dealer.by boxsterd - Main Forum
I've always thought the 993 was the best looking 911. If I could get a 993 with all the modern features and accessories (PSM, PDK, latest navigation, side air bags, etc...) that would be my next Porsche.by boxsterd - Main Forum
I got the cigarette lighter and plug/housing upgrade from Suncoast for my '01 Boxster but I have no idea how to install it. Does anyone know? Below is a link to the parts. TIA.by boxsterd - Main Forum
I don't get it. I've never wanted more than 5 speeds. I think I would find 7 speeds annoying and tiresome. Is this just marketing? I'm guessing 75% of buyers will get the dual-clutch any way and Porsche is using the 7 speed manual for marketing to try to market the 991 as "high tech".by boxsterd - Main Forum
I got the cigarette lighter sleeve/plug upgrade from Suncost but I'm sure how to install it. How do I remove the old sleeve? Do I need to get behind the front plate? TIA.by boxsterd - Main Forum
Have you ever had to replace/maintain the shocks or CV boots in 243k miles?by boxsterd - Main Forum
It's always bothered me that the cigarette lighter plug on my 01 base Boxster seems "loose", meaning adapters for my Garmin GPS and iphone slips out when I go over bumps. This doesn't happen in my other car. Was there ever an update to the plug? It seems mostly useless except for the cigarette lighter.by boxsterd - Main Forum
I believe you can get the sport steering wheel option and get the paddle shifters.by boxsterd - Main Forum
Some of you may remember my earlier post. I had the dealer oil the driver's side seat so it wouldn't sqeak when I rocked back and forth or went over bumpy roads. That worked for around a week and now the squeak is back. Is there something I can do to permanently get rid of squeak? Thanks.by boxsterd - Main Forum
If I close the driver's door and do nothing else, is it supposed to automatically lock after some time has passed? How long do I have to wait?by boxsterd - Main Forum
Do you think I should be worried about water, e.g. rain, getting in? It seems unlikely any water would do any damage since the tear is closed I would think any water that got inside would be absorbed along the sides and not drip.by boxsterd - Main Forum
I have this 1.5" tear: Should I be worried about water or debris getting inside? Should I put some tape over it when it rains?by boxsterd - Main Forum
I've never heard of replacing an IMS seal. Perhaps you're confusing it with RMS (Rear Main Seal)? I had the IMS bearing replaced because if it fails, and it has been known to fail, the engine is toast and will need to be replaced. The ceramic bearing from LN Engineering is expensive, something like $500 or $600, but since the transmission was already out to have the RMS seal replaced, saving laboby boxsterd - Main Forum
As you surmised a new clutch isn't DIY. That said, if you're replacing the clutch, I suggest you also have the RMS replaced, and replace the IMS bearing with a ceramic bearing from LN Engineering. I had all three done by a dealer for about $3000.by boxsterd - Main Forum
How important is it to flush the radiators? I don't recall seeing it as part of Porsche's recommended regular service.by boxsterd - Main Forum
How much was just the installation? Anyone know of a good place in the san francisco bay area (California) that can do the job?by boxsterd - Main Forum
I agree with Marc...replace the AOS. If the AOS fails it could lead to other more costly failures, like the RMS. My AOS failed at about 68k miles...after I had it replaced I noticed oil leaking onto my garage floor. Dealer explained that AOS failure can lead to RMS failure because of something about the RMS being "sucked inside out" (or something like that. RMS failure was the cause of the oil leby boxsterd - Main Forum
When you say the premium is $3700 what does that mean? Does that mean you pay $3700 yearly?!?by boxsterd - Main Forum
700HP 930? That's crazy. I believe the standard (unmodified) 930 had a nickname, "widow maker", because it could be so "deadly" if the driver didn't know what he was doing.by boxsterd - Main Forum
Car is 10 years old with 68k miles. Symptom was humongous plumes of white/grey smoke from the rear of the car. Scared the hell out of me. I thought my car was going to catch on fire.by boxsterd - Main Forum
Do you think it's "normal" to have to replace the water pump at 65k miles and AOS at 68k miles? I didn't think I would have to deal with these expensive repairs until after 100k miles.by boxsterd - Main Forum
It's fixed! I never did find that little felt pad as you described, but in the process of looking for it, I forwardclined the driver's seat all the way to the front, then reclined it back to it's normal position, and voila, the squeak is gone!by boxsterd - Main Forum
I have a Stilello2 and it's great because I set it to record the Howard Stern show from 3am - 8am everyday (I live in the west coast) and when I wake up I can listen to today's show and fast forward/skip through all the commercials and anything else I'm not interested in. Unless he has an interesting guest(s) I only end up listening to about 1-2 hours of actual show. I always listen to Robin's neby boxsterd - Main Forum
