Here is some good info from Tom Morris' site. Tom's Boxster jacking pageby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Not too surprising, I would imagine that most folks with high mileage, out of warranty cars have found a good independent alternative to the high priced (occasionally disreputable) dealers. At 102,000 miles, my car hasn't seen a dealer in over 50k miles and will not in the future, unless it's related to a recall. I do 90% of my own service and call in Alden at Fintworks if I get in over my head.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Fortunately this happened back in '04, so I have put all the fun miles on it and yes... I do drive it like I stole it! All better now...by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Sounds like a good run so far Trygve. Perhaps you can piggyback Alden on his Spec build. He just picked up a '97 with 191k and is starting his project. Keep us posted.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
My baby was stolen by bank robbers and hit by the mechanic at the shop they stole it from. They made everything right and I just passed 102,000 miles. Cars are fixable if you find the right "doctor". This picture was taken at the Police impound lot Not one of the better days of ownership.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Apparently he received at least 23 tickets in the past 13 years,10 for speeding. He was also busted for DUI in 2005. He had a .19 BAC and they estimated he was doing 130 -140 mph! I hope somebody learns from his mistakes, obviously Ryan didn't. Sad for his family and the family of the man he killedby BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
No kidding, the "opening salvo" video looked like a Hollywood movie where scores of bad guys fire assault weapons at the hero and every shot is wide. How far away were these guys?by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Distance from Earth to the center of the moon: 238,857 miles. Quite an accomplishment! At 102k, I'm not even half way there.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Great pics! A friend has a Spyder and it is a beautiful car!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
fell into the center console. Is it likely that I can just remove the ashtray unit, or am I looking at full console removal? I R&R'd the console a few years ago when I put in the short shifter, and it wasn't too bad. Has anybody used crazy glue or another method to keep this from happening in the future?by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
Quotejwdbox Interestingly under the engines it mentions the Direct Fuel Injection for the 911 but not the Cayman or Boxster. Strange oversight or indication of yet another change to come? It's more likely the marketing department is prohibited from printing anything that could be construed as placing the Boxster/Cayman at the same level as the 911.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I refreshed several times and occasionally get a blank space where the banner should be with containing static text, "All proceeds go to support PedrosBoard. Thank you!" It's not a hyperlink.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I replaced the coil on cylinder #6 based on the error code. Two weeks later, I got the same issue on cylinder #2, so I ordered 5 and replaced them all. They can be found on-line for ~$45.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I take mine to Home Depot all the time.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
My '99 started running rough and triggered the flashing CEL, so I pulled over and the light went solid. I was with a group and fortunately somebody had a code reader and found it to be P-0306 - misfire on cylinder 6. I was able to reset the light and drove the short distance home. I ordered and replace the ignition coil and all was good, so hopefully your issue is similarly minor. Good luck!by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
If it were a daily driver subjected to Bay Area stop & go, I would consider the PDK. Otherwise, if it is intended as a "toy-like" fun car, manual would be the only choice for me.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
I swap between ATE blue and gold for that very reason. In this day and age, it's a shame that a product is judged by the color of its fluid.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
When my crankshaft position sensor was failing, there were no CEL codes thrown. Unlike your situation, the non-starting was sporadic, only after the engine was hot. It would crank but not start, once it cooled down, it would start fine.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum

Good to hear, those pictures are just horrendous. A basement certainly seems like a "must-have" in that area of the country.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
If I recall, you've mentioned numerous road trips to visit family near Joplin. I hope they are all safe as well as other MO area boarders. You are in our thoughts and prayers.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
QuoteBoxsterBob - San Carlos Stephan (Boxterra) had a good writeup on PPBB that I used several years ago. Perhaps it can be resurrected. Hmmm, I'm not sure how this post ended up here, it was intended for the AM antennae thread.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum

BRBS is certainly on my Bucket List, until then I'll enjoy the West Coast gatherings. Have a great time, take lots of pictures and tilt a few in the Boxster Bar for us Left Coasters.by BoxsterBob - San Carlos - Main Forum
